Nicene Creed Penitential Rite I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made; For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (all bow) and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Comunión: Arriba los Corazones Salida: Que Se Abran los Cielos Pastor’s Page Page #7 MARY VIII The Second World War came to an end in Tokyo Bay on the deck of the battleship Missouri, with the official surrender of Japan to allied forces. The date was August 15, 1945, the Feast of the Assumption. Fatima-watchers see no coincidence in that date. In July, 1952, ten years after his initial consecration of the world, Pius XII privately consecrated Russia and her people to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. He did not ask the bishops of the world to join him in the consecration, and again, it is presumed that political realities were high among the Pope’s considerations. Stalin remained in power in Moscow; the Pope did not want to touch off a new round of persecution against the Christians of Russia. The 1952 consecration was not without its effect, however. Classified KGB files made public after the collapse of the Soviet Union show that at the 1952 congress of the communist party in Moscow, Stalin announced his plans to invade Western Europe – after the harsh Russian winter. Stalin gave his speech on October 13, the anniversary of the great miracle at Fatima, not that Stalin knew or cared. His target date for the invasion: April, 1953. Stalin died suddenly in March, 1953. He was replaced by Nikita Kruschev, a cold warrior, to be sure, but a man who had no interest in another war, and who would seek a workable accommodation with the West. It would be another thirty years, the mid-1980s, before Russia would again consider an invasion of the West. By that time, however, a Pope named John Paul II was in Rome. This Pope was determined to bring about the IHM Pray for us Fr. Jim consecration according to Our Lady’s request. IHM Ora por nosotros Padre Jim ALL SAINTS AND ANGELS CARNIVAL—THANK YOU!! The Third Annual All Saints and Angels Carnival this year was a huge success! The attendance (not including volunteers) numbered over 400. Children and adults alike had a wonderful time. A large group of volunteers helped to set-up, run and clean-up the event. The carnival has grown in the past few years and is fast becoming known as a 'safe', non-scary and spiritual event for families to celebrate our faith as Catholics. The evening also included a little parade of 'Saints and Angels" into the Church where children are reminded of the origins of the evening and then receive a blessing. The chairpeople would like to extend a thank you to the many ministries from IHM who donated various amounts of money to help fund this free parish event. We are also grateful for those parishioners who purchased one of our famous Rootbeer Floats during the summer months to help raise money for this event. Truly by all joining together, we have created an event for entire families to celebrate their faith and yes, even evangelize and welcome those who may not be weekly church attendees. Because planning begins in the spring for this event, we encourage all to become part of this fun and faith-filled event! Please call Jill Wright at 420-6865 or Julie Figueroa at 513-8155 if you are interested. We would be happy to add you to our list of volunteers for next year. We are certain that all volunteers will receive heavenly rewards - and ATTENTION ALTAR SERVERS –Spanish and English—There is a mandatory Altar Server training Sunday Dec. 8th.
