Buried Pipelines in Texas
There are buried
pipelines throughout
Texas, and you don’t
always need fancy
technology to know
where they are.
Sometimes they are
under the street,
sometimes running
underneath your property, and sometimes they are
located in a pipeline right of way. A pipeline right of way
is a strip of land over and around a buried pipeline that
allows it to be permanently located on public and
private land, providing natural gas service to you.
Rights of way are kept clear of obstructions to enable
Texas Gas Service to safely operate, patrol, inspect,
maintain and repair its pipelines.
Your Pipeline Right of Way Responsibility
To locate a pipeline right of way, look for distinctive
yellow markers that identify buried pipelines. If Texas
Gas Service has an easement on your property, you
should be aware of our guidelines for disturbance and
construction near natural gas pipeline equipment.

It’s important that property owners not install any
structures, store anything that could be an
obstruction, or plant trees or shrubs along rights of
way. You should never dig or construct anything in
the area without first calling 800-DIG-TESS
(344-8377), to advise them of the location of your
excavation project.
If you have a pipeline near your home, do not:
• Plant trees or tall shrubs on the right of way
• Dig, build, store or place anything on or near
the right of way without first having Texas Gas
Service mark the pipeline, stake the right of
way and explain the company’s construction
guidelines to you
• Do remember to call before you dig

Un derecho de paso para tuberías es una franja de terreno
sobre y alrededor de una tubería subterránea que les
permite estar ubicadas permanentemente en terrenos
públicos y privados, proporcionándole a usted el servicio de
gas natural. Los derechos de paso se mantienen libres de
obstrucciones para permitir a Texas Gas Service operar,
patrullar, inspeccionar, mantener y reparar tuberías de
manera segura.
Su Responsabilidad Sobre los
Derechos de Paso para Tuberías
Para localizar la tubería de derecho de paso, busque una
marca distintiva amarilla que identifica las tuberías

paso en su propiedad usted debe de estar informado
