The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts of Spain (ICAA) a part of the Ministry of
Education, Culture and Sport, together with the American Cinematheque and EGEDA, announce
the 20th edition of Recent Spanish Cinema series, a showcase of the most outstanding recent
Spanish films at the Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028
This year's lineup includes Spain’s Official Oscar Submission David Trueba’s insightful road movie
LIVING IS EASY WITH EYES CLOSED, the story of a teacher’s 1966 pilgrimage to meet John
Lennon, which swept this year’s Goya Awards. Director Álex de la Iglesia infuses his horror-crimecomedy mash-up WITCHING AND BITCHING with the dazzling visuals and nonstop energy of a
video game. Paco León revisits one of the most hilarious characters from last year’s Recent
Spanish Cinema - the foul-mouthed Carmina Barrios - in CARMINA AND AMEN. In Daniel Sánchez
Arévalo’s FAMILY UNITED, the World Cup soccer final adds to the chaos of a wedding, while in
Emilio Martínez Lázaro’s SPANISH AFFAIR, a Basque identity becomes a prerequisite for a
marriage. Three of Inma Cuesta’s ex-boyfriends get hitched in the space of one month in THREE
MANY WEDDINGS. In ISMAEL, the 8-year-old title character searches for his estranged father in
Barcelona. Additionally, the winning entry of the New Filmmakers From Spain short film contest ,
SEQUENCE by Carlos Torres, will screen before the opening night film. On Friday, October 17, all
filmmakers and talent in attendance will participate in a free panel discussion in the Spielberg
Theatre.

CON LOS OJOS CERRADOS, inspirada en la historia real de un profesor de inglés que en 1966

director Álex de la Iglesia nos trae una original mezcla de comedia,horror y crimenes, LAS
