have dealt with as many joker brokers as a human could handle in a
lifetime, finally accepted the fact that the only place where a real
exchange of Bolivars takes place is in the Colombian border with
Venezuela, in the city of Cucuta.
Even then, that wasn’t good enough, it wasn’t safe to travel there by
himself, he could be cheated again, the dollars by themselves wouldn’t be
enough to retire on, he needed a comprehensive solution, something where

utilizada en el mercado de negro.
Necesitaba esos dólares para importar mercancía para su negocio,
o para enviar algo de dinero a su hijo que estudia en el extranjero, o
incluso sólo para salir de Venezuela de una vez por todas y empezar
de cero.
Pero había un problema: No entendía que el tipo de cambio de
bolívares es al igual que cualquier otro mercado conducido por la
oferta y la demanda; a pesar de que era consciente de que en
Venezuela no hay tal cosa (ya que el intercambio de divisas por
medios distintos a los del gobierno se considera ilegal), todavía
tenía la esperanza de encontrar a una persona los suficiente buena
que le vendiera dólares a una tasa muy baja, inclusive por debajo
de Sicadi.
