Day!
Cassiday Studios is once again coming to
GW to take marvelous photos of all our
adorable kids! Photos will be taken, rain
or shine, on Monday, September
12th. Please make sure to dress your
children in bright colors and to return
the order forms to the GWPTA mailbox
no later than September 9th. Makeup
Day for absentees and retakes will be
announced later.
No orders can be accepted after Picture
Day! Your child will have to retake
photos on Makeup Day if payment is not
received by September 9th.

Please Note: Photos will be taken of
ALL students for inclusion in the 20112012 GW Yearbook whether you order

Principal Mungin's Message
It’s hard to believe that the beginning of a new school year is here! I am hopeful that our
GW families have had a restful and rejuvenating summer and are ready to start what is
certain to be a wonderful school year. Mr. McCarthy and I have been busy reviewing the
many successes of the last school year and planning for the opening of what we are sure
to be a year of building upon a solid foundation for all of our GW Patriots. As I meet with
parents and teachers and discover the many GW traditions, I marvel at the accomplishments
of the PTA and am impressed with the commitment of our staff. I am excited about the
possibilities that exist not only for our students, but for our entire school community as we
continue to grow as a Professional Learning Community. I am eager to lead the GW
community to continued success. We have much to be proud of!
¡Es difícil creer que el comienzo de un nuevo año escolar nos ha llegado! Tengo la
esperanza que nuestras familias de GW han tenido un verano con descanso, rejuvenecimiento y están listas para comenzar lo que tenemos
la certeza que será un año escolar maravilloso. El Señor McCarthy y yo hemos estado muy ocupados revisando los muchos éxitos del
pasado año escolar y planeando para la apertura de lo que estamos seguros será un año que construiremos sobre una base sólida para
todos los patriotas de GW. A medida que me encuentro con padres y maestros descubro las muchas tradiciones de GW, los logros
maravillosos de la PTA y estoy impresionado con el compromiso de nuestro personal. Me emocionan las posibilidades que existen no sólo
para nuestros estudiantes, sino para toda nuestra comunidad escolar a medida que continuamos creciendo como una comunidad

President's Desk
Welcome back to George Washington to all our GW Veterans and a warm welcome to all the new members of our GW Community! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing summer break. Our PTA has an exciting year planned to enhance the social and educational
environment for our students. From a fun filled Halloween party, to author visits, to chess club, and our school newspaper, our PTA will be
busy this year! The purpose of PTA is to support the faculty, staff, parents and most importantly, the students of George Washington. There
are many ways that you can show your support of the PTA. First, please show your commitment to GW, its faculty, staff and students by
joining PTA. Membership flyers were included in the summer mailings or can be downloaded from the PTA website (www.mygwpta.org).
Another way to show your support is to participate in PTA activities. Your participation can range from being a committee chair,
volunteering at an event or in the classroom, or attending an event. Whatever level of participation you choose, your support is appreciated!
I hope all of you will come to our first PTA meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 13th at 7pm. Babysitting will be available so bring

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a George Washington y a todos los Veteranos de GW. Una bienvenida cordial a todos los nuevos miembros de
nuestra Comunidad GW! Espero que todos hayan tenido un descanso maravilloso y relajante en el verano. Nuestra PTA tiene planeado un
año muy interesante para mejorar el entorno social y educativo de nuestros estudiantes. ¡Que consistirá con una fiesta de Halloween
divertida, visitas de autores, el club de ajedrez, y nuestro periódico escolar, el PTA estará ocupado este año!El propósito de la PTA es apoyar
a los profesores, personal, padres de familia y lo más importante, los estudiantes de George Washington. Hay muchas maneras que usted
puede mostrar su apoyo al PTA. En primer lugar demuestre su compromiso con GW, su facultad, personal y estudiantes uniéndose al PTA.

Look in your child’s backpack during the
first week of school for the Fall Fundraiser
packet! This year we will be selling items
from the Innisbrook Catalog. Innisbrook
features quality wrapping paper and a nice
selection of modestly priced gourmet food
and gift items. Deadline for receipt of orders
is October 6. This is the major fundraiser for
the GWPTA. Funds raised go toward the
many PTA programs that support our children.
