We’re kicking off the 3rd Trimester:
Ya Empezamos el Tercer Trimestre
Dear Parents:
Many Thanks for the support,
time, energy & enthusiasm you
put into Olivet to make it a
special place! If you have not
been involved yet, there’s time!
As you may have read before,
our teachers are being trained
and are now beginning to
implement Common Core lessons: increased rigor, promoting students to communicate,
collaborate, create and think
critically. We are working to
build perseverance and independence in our students. Technology is integrated into lessons, projects and classtime.
(Did you know each class has a
sets of chrome books in grades
3-6?) In grades 1 & 2, there
are mini-labs, and K can go to
the computer lab! State testing: In mid-April the students in
grades 3-6 will be taking the
field test of the Smarter Balanced Assessment on computers. It’s like a test of the test,
and we will not be receiving
results/scores this practice
year.
OUR WISH LIST: We really need
2 things from you:
We could really use your kind
donations of a flat of bottles
waters or a box of granola bars
(or other emergency food) to
help your child’s class complete
their emergency preparedness
food stash. Thank you to the
many families that did send a
comfort for their child.
Re-use - recycle.We could also
take advantage of any gently
used toys, party favors, trinkets,
happy meal toys, school supplies
etc. that you no longer need. We
are looking for these items to put
in our prize box! Turn your junk
into child’s treasure!
Padres– Muchas Gracias por la
energia, apollo, tiempo y entusiasmo que hace a nuestra escuela
ser tan especial. Si no se han
involucrado todavia, hay tiempo!
Quizas ya sabe que nuestros
maestros han sido entrenados y
ahora empiezan implementar el
Common Core a las lecciones.
Lecciones son mas profundas, hay
mas creatividad, pensamiento
critico, colaboracion y cooperacion. Hay tecnologia en las leciones, proyectos y salones de
clase. Sabien que hay chromebooks/laptops para cada nino en
grados 3-6? Y los de grados 1 y 2
tienen mini-laboratorios de computadoras. En Abril ninos de grados
3 a 6 van a tomar la version de
practica del examen Smarter
Balanced en las computadoras. No
recibiremos resultados, es como
“una practica del examen del
estado.”
La lista de Esperanzas: Quisieramos dos
cosas de Ustedes:
-Una caja de botellas de agua o cajas
de granola bars. Es la comida para
estar preparada por emergencias del
salon de clase. Gracias a los que ya
trajeron su bolso de emergencia
(comfort kit).
-Reciclamos. Necesitamos los juguetes
pequenos y poco usados. Son
para la caja de premios para la
escuela.
