Bilbao, September 14, 2015 Luis VEGA at Shocks, Singularities and Oscillations in Nonlinear Optics and Fluid Mechanics, Rome Italy Ø Ø September 14 -18, 2015, Rome, Italy The conference is organized for celebrating the 65th birthday of Guy Métivier Luis VEGA, Scientific Director of BCAM, will open the conference with his talk: An isoperimetric-type inequality for Dirac Hamiltonians with electrostatic shell interactions This conference takes place in the framework of the activities of INDAM and it focus on recent major advances in the study of nonlinear hyperbolic systems. General theoretical issues such as symmetrizability, singularities, low regularity or dispersive perturbations will be addressed. The last decade has been marked by important breakthroughs in the study of physical phenomena where the theory of hyperbolic systems plays a central role. The conference will pay specific attention also to these applications. In particular nonlinear optics, shock theory (stability, relaxation) and fluid mechanics (boundary layers, water waves, Euler equations, geophysical flows, etc.). Se abordarán cuestiones teóricas generales como symmetrizability, singularidades, baja regularidad o perturbaciones dispersivas. La última década ha estado marcada por avances importantes en el estudio de los fenómenos físicos en los que la teoría de sistemas hiperbólicos juega un papel central. La conferencia presta atención específica también a estas aplicaciones. En particular, la óptica no lineal, teoría de choque (estabilidad, relajación) y la mecánica de fluidos (capas límite, ondas, ecuaciones de Euler, flujos geofísicos, etc.).
