Scholarships at LSE Annual scholarships are awarded competitively to University of London graduates who have completed a BSc degree that is academically directed by LSE (usually with First Class honours) and who have been accepted for postgraduate study at LSE. Transfer to a UK university Occasionally, some first-year students who perform exceptionally well are able to transfer to the second year of a similar degree as an on-campus student at a UK university. Study independently or at a local teaching institution You can study for your University of London degree in parallel to a local degree at one of our approved teaching institutions in South America (see p. 12 for more details). All of our approved institutions in South America support a range of courses developed by LSE (e.g. accounting, finance, management), while some support law, business administration, or the International Foundation Programme (see p. 10 for more details). You can also study over 100 courses independently by distance learning. Support from the University of London The University of London provides a range of printed materials and online resources that draw upon the cuttingedge research of its lead colleges. These include detailed subject guides; a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) with online resources and discussion forums where 8 you can meet students from around the world; and an online library which gives you access to journals and databases. Student life at teaching institutions Approved teaching institutions offer lectures and seminars that help you to structure your studies and understand more of the material. You also receive all the benefits and facilities of a campus study experience alongside your Virtual Learning Environment. You should apply online through the webpage of your chosen programme: londoninternational.ac.uk/courses If you intend to study at a local institution, you should contact them for advice before submitting an application. Undergraduate entry requirements The qualifications accepted for entry in South American countries can be found at: londoninternational.ac.uk/ am-i-qualified You may also need to meet programme-specific entry criteria, details of which are listed on the individual programme pages: londoninternational.ac.uk/courses English language To be accepted on our programmes, you must meet our English language requirements. The full list of accepted proficiency tests and awards is available on our course pages: londoninternational.ac.uk/courses 10 Alternative Entry Routes If you don’t meet the undergraduate entrance requirements, you may still be eligible for an alternative programme that will prepare you for further study. •The International Foundation Programme (IFP) provides you with the skills and knowledge required for undergraduate study. Passing the IFP guarantees you entry to most undergraduate degrees offered through the International Programmes. Many universities worldwide also accept the IFP as an entry qualification. This course must be studied at an approved teaching institution (see p. 12 for details). Postgraduate programmes You will generally require a degree which is comparable to a UK second class honours degree. If you do not meet this entry requirement, you may still be eligible for a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma. Further information and how to apply online can be found at: londoninternational. ac.uk/courses Study for a University of London degree in South America Graduating from the University of London The award you receive: When you graduate, you are awarded a University of London degree, diploma or certificate. The final parchment includes the University of London logo, the signature of the Vice-Chancellor, and specifies the college of the university that conducted your examinations. Graduation ceremonies: You may attend the University of London International Programmes graduation ceremony in London. Held in March, this is presided over by the ViceChancellor, or the Chancellor, HRH the Princess Royal. You also have the option of attending graduation ceremonies held at institutions in South America. Alumni Association: Upon graduation, you become a member of the University of London International Programmes Alumni Association, which has over 100,000 members worldwide. The Alumni Association provides a range of opportunities to stay in touch with the University and fellow graduates. londoninternational.ac.uk/south-america 11 Teaching institutions in South America The University of London International Programmes works with a network of about 140 teaching centres worldwide, of which nine are based in South America. In order for an institution to become recognised as a support centre for our students, it must satisfy strict criteria set by the University of London. • Registered Centre: These institutions demonstrate commitment to delivering high standards of teaching, student support and administration. Students can expect to be taught by wellqualified teachers, receive learning support and guidance on their studies, and get access to resources and facilities that benefit their studies. •Candidate Centre: These institutions have received approval to begin teaching University of London International Programmes after meeting a series of due diligence checks.
