Arise – Together in Christ, our parish
evangelization process, will begin the first
week in October, and will continue for
6 weeks. Arise is an experience of joining
with other parishioners to reflect on the Scripture, to pray
and to share our Christian Catholic lives. The Theme for
this season is Encountering Christ Today. Next Sunday,
September 18, is Sign-Up Sunday. Those who desire to be
part of a small Arise community will have the opportunity
to sign-up to be part of a small community. We invite all
parishioners to participate in Arise, and we ask you to
invite neighbors, friends and family members who may be
distanced from the Church to consider signing up for a
small Arise community.
Saturday, September 17, is the bus trip to
Washington for the Jubilee of the Icon O.L.P.H.
If you have signed up but haven’t yet paid your
balance due, please do so this week. The bus will be
leaving from 5th Avenue, in front of the church at 7 AM.
Please be there at least 15 minutes early to sign in.
The OLPH Circle of Friends next trip will be to
Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA, on Wednesday,
October 5. The bus will leave from in front of
the Church (5th Avenue between 59th & 60th St)
at 9:30 AM, and will return 6 hours from arrival time.
The cost of the bus is $40, which includes bus fare and $20
free slot-play and $5 food voucher. Please call Sister
Lucille at 347-603-3738 for reservations. If you are paying
in cash, Sister Lucille will instruct you how to get the
payment to her. Please do not leave cash at the rectory. No
seat reservation is final until full payment is received.

Bible Study and Faith Sharing: Come and join Father
McDonald in a group that seeks to know the scriptures and
to share their faith. This class meets every Monday in the
Parish Center at 7:30 PM.
CIRCLE OF FRIENDS: As soon as all is ready
in Notre Dame Hall, we will set the date for our
first meeting - then members will receive their
usual letter in the mail.
On Friday, September 16, 2016, Father John Murray will
teach a Scripture class entitled, "Who are the Samaritans
and what is their importance in the early Church?” We will
start promptly at 11 AM in the sacristy of OLPH Church,
5th Avenue and 59th Street, Brooklyn, NY. All are invited.

Foundations for Ministry Program, a 10-week, 20-hour
course in Theology and Spirituality for Ministry, will take
place in the Fall, 2016. This course is designed for those
who are thinking of enrolling in the 3-year Lay Ministry
Program, for Pastoral Council members, and for others
involved or wanting to be involved in parish ministries.

Special collections for disaster relief: On Sunday,
September 25, the second collection will be for the victims
of the floods in Louisiana. On Sunday, October 9, the
second collection will be for the victims of the earthquake
in Italy. We continue to remember the victims of these
natural disasters in our prayers.

Hoban Run, a 5 mile run which is now a September
tradition in Bay Ridge, will take place on Sunday,

Police Alumni, the NYPD, and the entire community, the
Hoban Run supports a memorial scholarship fund to honor
Christopher Hoban ‘80, an NYPD officer who lost his life in
the line of duty in 1988 at the age of 26. If you have any

El sábado, 17 de septiembre, se realizará el
viaje a Washington para el Jubileo de N.S. del
Perpetuo Socorro. Si ha reservado un asiento y
no ha pagado el costo total, favor de completar
su pago esta semana. Los buses salen de frente a
la Iglesia, 5ª Avenida, a las 7 a.m. Favor de estar presente
al menos 15 minutos antes de la salida.
Levántate – Unámonos en Cristo, nuestro
proceso parroquial de evangelización,
comenzará la primera semana de octubre,
y seguirá por 6 semanas. Levántate es una
experiencia de una pequeña comunidad de
parroquianos que se juntan para
reflexionar sobre las Escrituras, para orar y para
compartir su vida Cristiana y Católica. El Tema de esta
primera etapa es El Encuentro con Cristo Hoy. El domingo
próximo, 18 de septiembre, es el Domingo de Inscripción.
Los que desean participar en una pequeña comunidad de
Levántate tendrán la oportunidad de anotarse para una
pequeña comunidad. Invitamos a todos los parroquianos a
participar en Levántate, y pedimos que inviten a sus
vecinos, amigos y familiares que están alejados de la Iglesia
a inscribirse para una pequeña comunidad de Levántate.
Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro Academia Católica de

las inundaciones en Louisiana. El domingo, 9 de octubre, la
segunda colecta se dedicará a las víctimas del terremoto en
Italia. Seguimos rezando por todos los afectados por estos
desastres naturales.
