Are you looking for ways to experience
God? It can be difficult. God is a spiritual
being. How do you experience a “spiritual
being”? Members of the Society of St.
Vincent de Paul invite you to share in their
ministry of experiencing God in the poor.
Holy Scripture tells us: “The Word became flesh and lived
among us, and we saw His glory, the glory that is His as the
only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (The Gospel according to John, 1, 14)
We see Christ in the poor and when we see Christ we experience God. Come join us on Tuesday September13, 2015
from 7PM to 8PM at the Rectory to learn more about this
very special ministry. We look forwarding to seeing you!

A Note from Fr. Manny
Dear St. Francis Family,
Our believing mind at times leads us to
presume that when we serve God and follow
His will, everything will be alright. But it is
not what Jesus is teaching us in the gospel this
weekend about discipleship.
“If anyone comes to me without hating
his father and mother, wife and children,
brothers and sisters, and even his own life cannot be my
disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come
after me cannot be my disciple.” (Lk 14:26-27)
Discipleship therefore entails serious commitment to
follow God’s will and be ready if needs arises to sacrifice
dearest persons and things in life. One must calculate the
cost before setting it out.
Like St. Francis, our patron saint in his own way of
following the will of God and given the challenging opportunity to choose between his father’s will and the call of
God to serve His people, he preferred to answer God’s call
for him to serve, even though it cost the hatred of his father
Pietro di Bernardone.
As Jesus disciples experienced the “way of His cross,
we as Christians must always bear in mind that God did not
promise an easy journey but a “GREAT DESTINATION”
“But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” (Mt.
10:22) Amen.
Yours in the ministry
Fr. Manny S.
Padre Manny S.
