INTENDED USE:
For the preservation, transportation and the processing of Fine Needle Aspirates (FNA) specimens to produce a readable, diagnostic
slide to be read and diagnosed by a laboratory professional.
SUMMARY AND EXPLANATION:
The following are the components of this processing Kit:
 Liqui-PREPTM Preservative F Collection Vial - 10mL per vial for the preservation, transport and fixation of the FNA specimen.
 Liqui-PREPTM Cellular Base F Solution (80-3050) - 10mL per bottle for encapsulation and adhering of Liqui-PREPTM
processed cells onto a clean glass microscope slide.
STABILITY:
 Supplied reagents and solutions are stable until the labeled expiration date.
 Specimens collected in the Liqui-PREPTM Preservative F Solution is stable for 30 days at 10O to 30O C.

Pipette to dispense the volumes of 200µl, 100µl, and 50µl
PRINCIPALS OF THE PROCESS:
COLLECTION - After the tissue is aspirated, using a syringe and needle, the aspirated contents of the syringe are immediately and
gently expelled into a Liqui-PREPTM Preservative F Collection Vial containing 9 mL. The syringe should be rinsed several times
(at least 3 times) in the Liqui-PREPTM Preservative F Collection Vial by repeated aspirations and expelling the Liqui-PREPTM
Preservative F solution, thus washing the residual specimen from the syringe. The specimen is labeled and sent to the
laboratory for processing and diagnosis.
PRESERVATION & FIXATION - The specimens must reside in the Liqui-PREPTM Preservative F Solution for at least 30
minutes prior to processing.
CONCENTRATION - After fixation, the specimen is mixed, poured onto a 15mL centrifuge tube and centrifuged for 10 minutes at
1,000 x g-Force. The supernatant is discarded resulting in a reasonably dry cellular pellet.
ENCAPSULATION AND ADHERENCE - 50µl to 200µl of Liqui-PREPTM Cellular Base F Solution is added depending on the size
of the cellular pellet (most FNA specimens use 50µl to 100µl). When Liqui-PREPTM Cellular Base F Solution is added to the cell
pellet this produces an appropriate cell concentration. This cell base suspension is mixed well (using a vortex) to produce a
homogeneous suspension. This final homogeneous suspension is then mixed very well (using a vortex) immediately prior to
taking 50µl of the final suspension and applying it to a clean dry glass microscope slide. After drying, the Liqui-PREPTM processed
slide is ready for staining and interpretation by a trained professional.
WARNINGS:
 The reagents in this kit contain very dilute mixtures of denatured alcohols and are not intended for human consumption.
NOTES:
 The processed Liqui-PREPTM cytology slide is stable for up to 2 days at room temperature prior to staining.
 Adhering the encapsulated cells to the glass slide depends on very clean slides. Clean the slides by dipping the
slides in 100% denatured alcohol and allowing them to drying.
 Prepared slides can be dried in room temperature or in an oven at temperatures up to 50 OC. To heat dry these slides they must
be placed on a paper towel to insulate them from direct heat.

PRINCIPIOS DEL PROCESO:
COLECCION - Después de que el tejido es aspirado usando una jeringa y la aguja, el contenido aspirado de la jeringa es inmediata

ADVERTENCIAS:

PROCEDURE/PROCEDIMIENTO
COLLECTION:
 The aspirated specimen is immediately expelled into the Liqui-PREPTM Preservative F Collection Vial. The syringe is then
rinsed by aspirating some Liqui-PREPTM Preservative F and expelling it several time (minimum of 3 times).
 After collection, label the specimen and send it to the laboratory for processing and diagnosis.

FIXATION & PRESERVATION:
 ALLOW A MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES FOR THE SPECIMEN TO BE PRESERVED (Fixation)
BEFORE PROCESSING
THE SPECIMEN.
 After preservation, mix the specimen very well using a vortex mixer (at least 1,000 RPM) for 30 seconds.
 Proceed immediately to Concentration.

PROCESAR.

CONCENTRATION:
 After mixing, pour the entire specimen from the specimen collection vial into the centrifuge tube.

CENTRIFUGATION:
 Place the 15mL centrifuge tube with the specimen into the swinging bucket centrifuge.

 After centrifugation, decant the supernatant by rapidly inverting the tube, keeping it upside down, until all the supernatant

 Pipette 50µl to 200µl (amount depends on the size of the cellular pellet. Most FNA specimens use 50µl to 100µl) of LiquiPREPTM Cellular Base F Solution is added to the cell pellet thus producing an appropriate cell concentration.
 This Cellular Base suspension is mixed (using a vortex) well to produce a homogeneous suspension.

SLIDE PREPERATION:
 This final homogeneous suspension is then mixed very well (using a vortex), immediately prior to taking 50µl of the final
suspension and applying it to a clean dry glass microscope slide.
 Allow the slide to dry, stain and read the slide.
PREPARACION DE DIAPOSITIVA:
