The Year of Faith The Ascension of the Lord May 12, 2013 The Lord Jesus takes his place in the Kingdom and continues to guide and shepherd us. St. Pius V will be conducting that Campaign in the fall of 2013 with other parishes as well. As Father Ted announced last November, when we conduct the Campaign we will raise funds for the diocesan efforts and receive a portion for our own projects. We plan to use our portion of the funds to refurbish the statues of our Saints, to reupholster the chairs in the Chapel and, if funds are sufficient, to install solar panels to help lower our electrical costs. Please take a tour of our future Christ Cathedral soon and pray about your gift to this effort. Adults to be Confirmed at the 5;15 pm Mass next Saturday, May 18 Next Saturday is the Vigil of Pentecost. Some adult members of our parish will be confirmed at the 5:15 pm Mass. The Sacrament of Confirmation “is called Confirmation because it confirms and strengthens baptismal grace.” “The effect of Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that of Pentecost. This outpouring impresses on the soul an indelible character and produces a growth in the grace of Baptism. It roots the recipient more deeply in divine sonship, binds him more firmly to Christ and to the Church and reinvigorates the gifts of the Holy Spirit in his soul. It gives a special strength to witness to the Christian faith.” (Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church Nos. 266, 268) The Vigil of Pentecost is not as extended a celebration as the Easter Vigil but it will take a little longer than a usual Saturday evening mass so please plan accordingly. ¿A qué esperas? ¿A qué esperamos nosotros? —Virginia Stillwell Derechos de autor © 2012, World Library Publications. —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
