Awareness, Attitude, and Use Survey
Dublin City Schools
Purpose of PPAAUS
•  Tracks changes over time in the use of alcohol,
tobacco, other drugs by Dublin youth
•  Identifies some of the correlates and predictors of
alcohol, tobacco and other drug use
•  Identifies areas of problem behaviors and safety
concerns in our community
•  Empowers community sectors (i.e. parents, schools,
agencies, law enforcement, city administration, etc.) to
better understand how they can effectively address
issues facing our youth
•  Provides information that can be used to guide
prevention and intervention activities in Dublin

1.4% (14 students) of eighth graders,
9% (98 students) of tenth graders, and
28% (251 students ) of twelfth graders
= 363 students reported binge drinking
at least once in the last 30 days.
17% of eighth graders, 20% of tenth graders, 30% of twelfth graders
thought there was minimal harm (no risk or slight risk) associated with
binge drinking on the weekends.

been drinking in the
past year,
15% (465 Youth) with
a driver who had
been smoking pot.

had driven a car while
using marijuana, and
26% of youth had served
as a designated driver.
