SHARE THE BURDEN
―Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest‖ (Matthew
11:28). These words of our Savior seem to be
in stark contrast to the previous chapter from
the same Gospel, when we were told that if we
do not take up our crosses, we are not worthy of Christ.
Connecting these two messages might help us on
our faith journeys. Being a follower of Christ surely
means that we must embrace the cross, in its mystery
of both suffering and triumph. This is something that we
need not do alone, for the burden is often too heavy for
us to carry by ourselves. Who, then, do we turn to? We
can turn to the Body of Christ—the community of disciples gathered for worship. When we find the burden too
heavy, let us remember that we can share that burden
with our Christian sisters and brothers, who can help

COMPARTE LA CARGA
―Vengan a mí, todos los que están fatigados y
agobiados por la carga, y yo los aliviaré‖ (Mateo 11:28). Esta palabras de nuestro
Salvador son un gran contraste con el previo
capítulo del mismo Evangelio, cuando nos dice
que si no cargamos nuestra propia cruz, no somos dignos de Cristo. Relacionar estos dos mensajes puede
ayudarnos en nuestro camino de fe. Ser seguidor de
Cristo ciertamente significa que debemos abrazar la
cruz, en su misterio que es sufrimiento y triunfo a la vez.
Es algo que no necesitamos hacer solos, ya que la carga
suele ser demasiado pesada para llevarla sin ayuda. ¿A
quién volcarnos entonces? Podemos volcarnos al Cuerpo
de Cristo, a la comunidad de discípulos reunidos para el
culto. Cuando sintamos que la carga es demasiado
pesada, recordemos que podemos compartirla con
nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo que pueden

Low-gluten hosts are available
People who have celiac disease cannot tolerate gluten, a protein in wheat, rye and barley.
This is problematic for Catholics who have this
disease since in order for the bread that is
used at Mass to be a valid substance for the
sacrament it must include wheat. In recent
years, the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual
Adoration in Clyde, Missouri (the motherhouse
of the Benedictine sisters here in Tucson)
have developed a low-gluten host. Many who
suffer from this disease have been able to
consume these hosts without any ill effects. These altar
breads have been approved by the Vatican as meeting the
standards required for the host to be considered valid substance for the sacrament.
If you suffer from celiac disease, and would like to be able
to received the Body of Christ at communion, please let us
know in the Parish Office. If there is a need in our parish,
we will make the necessary arrangements to make recep-

We live in a time of instant communications; and many
have come to act as if the world will end if they do not
respond immediately to the outreach of a friend via
their cell phone. Yet indeed, it will not. One can dedicate the time of a Mass solely to the Lord. Admittedly,
even when one intends to do this, one may indeed forget to turn off their cell phone or to place it on vibrate
when coming to Mass. So, we include a reminder about
cell phones at the beginning of Mass. However, if one
arrives after the opening announcements, one doesn’t
get reminded; and, sure enough, very often one of their
phones rings during Mass. If this happens, the appropriate response is to simply silence the phone and turn it off or to vibrate. An in appropriate response is to answer the phone and
begin to talk. This also applies to texting — it is inappropriate
to respond to or to initiate a text during Mass.
In Celebration of
Independence Day
The Parish Offices will be closed for this national holiday on Monday, July 4th. The regularly scheduled
Daily Mass at 8:00 AM will be celebrated.
Youth Ministry Update
Vivimos en una época de comunicaciones instantáneas;
y muchos han llegado a actuar como que el mundo se
terminará si ellos no responden inmediatamente a la
llamada de un amigo a su celular. Cuando en realidad,
nada pasará. Uno puede dedicar el tiempo de una
Misa, únicamente al Señor. Admitimos que aún cuando
uno así lo quiera, uno puede olvidar apagar su celular,
o ponerlo en vibrador cuando viene a Misa. Por eso, al
principio de la Misa, incluímos un recordatorio. Sin embargo, si uno llega después de los primeros anuncios,
no le podemos recordar; y, de seguro, muy a menudo
uno de sus teléfonos suena durante la Misa. Si esto sucede,
la respuesta apropiada es simplemente silenciar el teléfono o
ponerlo en vibrador. Una respuesta impropia es responder a
la llamada y ponerse a platicar. Esto también aplica a textear
— es poco apropiado el responder o iniciar un texto durante
la Misa.

Las Oficinas Parroquiales cerrarán el lunes 4 de julio, con
motivo de la festividad nacional. Sí se celebrará la Misa
Diaria programada a las 8:00 AM.

Panda Mania VBS 2011 was a great experience. Who could forget all the new Bible
Buddies and the great music? Thank you to
all the station leaders - your hard work paid
off. Crew leaders you were awesome. Don’t

#9380 - Knights of Columbus will host the
first of two semi-annual blood drives for
2011 on Sunday July 24th from 8:00 AM through Noon in
Nicholson Hall. Members of the Knights will be at a table in
the church vestibule on the preceding weekend (July 16-17)
after most of the Masses to solicit sign-ups. You can also call
ahead of that weekend to make a reservation with Timothy
McClaughry @ 228-8875 (Work) or 327-8998 (Home) or our
Parish Office @ 795-1633.

This Weekend

This weekend we begin accepting donations for the first
quarter of the new fiscal year for our Maintenance Fund.
These monies enable us to address extraordinary maintenance needs which are often quite costly. We, like most
parishes, cannot cover these expenses out of our ordinary collections. When repairs and/or upkeep is delayed, additional costs are often incurred down the line. Your support in
helping us ―catch up‖ as well as ―keep up‖ the facility is
greatly appreciated.
Este fin de semana empezamos aceptando donaciones
para el primer parte del año económico nuevo para
nuestro Fondo de Mantenimiento. Estos fondos nos permiten atender necesidades extraordinarias que a menudo son muy costosas. Nosotros, como la mayoría de las

silverware, TV’s, linens, toys. We need the following volunteers: English tutor, family mentor, GED tutor, apartment setup assistance, transportation to appointments, welcoming at
