SUMMER LEARNING It is mandatory for all scholars to complete the work below this summer. Track summer learning every day in the attached homework calendar. If you have questions, please call 720-863-8920. 1. Online math for 20 minutes/at least 4 days per week a. ST Math (JiJi) for returning RMP scholars - 100% completed by the end of summer! i. Go www.stmath.com and click on JiJi the penguin. Click on the Homework button. The scholar should enter his/her password and then type in Rocky Mountain Prep and press Enter. Begin playing assigned homework. If no homework has been assigned, access content by clicking the “Replay Games” button. b. Dreambox for some returning and all new RMP scholars i. Go to https://play.dreambox.com/login/457r/rockymp and select the name of the classroom teacher listed on the label on your scholar’s orientation folder. 2. Online reading (Raz Kids) for 20 minutes/day at least 4 days/week a. Raz Kids: http://www.raz-kids.com/main/Login (Type in your scholar’s teacher username that can be found on the label on your scholar’s orientation folder) b. Lexia for some returning RMP scholars c. We highly encourage families to visit the library several times a week. All DPS students are eligible for a free library card - you’ll need your proof of address to complete an application. Need internet or a computer? If your scholar qualifies for Free or Reduced lunch, you can get internet from Comcast for $9.99/month! If you need a computer, RMP has them to loan! Echo Reading Checking for Understanding YouTube videos with strategies When reading a book, you read a phrase or a short sentence and then your child repeats it. That way, your child gets to hear how you read and their voice "echoes" yours. It's a great way to stop your child from reading in a "robot" voice and read with expression! It can be used with any text material you have in the house, and is especially good for material that might be a little too difficult for your children to read independently. These are the big 3 questions to ask your child when he or she is unsure or makes a mistake on a word: Does that look right? Does that sound right? Does that make sense? Don’t leap to correcting the word immediately – it is important for your child to be able to think critically about their reading. They should be able to explain their thinking and justify their opinions. 1. Why? - Which page was your favorite? - Why? - Does this story remind you of another story you’ve heard? How are they alike? 2. Choose the video called “Reading Strategies” and your scholar’s grade level. ¿ Necesita Ayuda?
