Jesus uses tough language that we may not want to
hear. But, we are all called to be generous with all our
gifts. Not just the ones we pick and choose, but all our
gifts: our time in prayer to God, our talent in
participating in parish ministries and our treasure
supporting our local parish and other charities.

LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
This week’s letter is best summarized by a great quote
from Matthew Kelly which I find astonishingly true:
The happiest people I know are also the most
generous people I know.
Conversely also, stingy people are the most unhappy
people I know as well. Is that a coincidence? I
don’t think so. The world proposes selfishness
as the path to happiness. God proposes
generosity as the path to happiness. I know
many selfish people, but I don’t know any
who have a deep and lasting happiness.
Selfish people always seem restless and
discontented. The happiness we experience
through selfishness is fleeting because it is
dependent on external circumstances. But I
also know some very generous people, and
their happiness is not dependent on things
going their way or on getting what they
want; their happiness is rooted in the life of
God. This happiness, this joy springs up from
something that is taking place within them.
We are all invited to that life.”
The sooner and the deeper that we come to let go to
believe and trust in God on the level of generosity, the
sooner we will enjoy the depth of his blessings in our
lives.

CARTA DE NUESTRO PÁRROCO
28o domingo de tiempo ordinario
Queridos Parroquianos,
Para que seamos generosos con todos nuestros
regalos, especialmente aquellos que son más
preciados para nosotros.
"Le resulta más fácil a un camello pasar por el ojo
de una aguja, que a un rico entrar en el reino de
Dios." – (Marcos 10:25)
Jesús usa un lenguaje duro que puede no
gustarnos. Sin embargo, todos nosotros somos
llamados a ser generosos con todos nuestros
regalos. No solo aquellos que escogemos, sino que
todos nuestros regalos: nuestro tiempo en oración
para Dios, nuestro talento al participar en los
ministerios de la parroquia y nuestros tesoros al
apoyar nuestra parroquia local y otras caridades.
La carta de esta semana es el mejor resumen
de una gran cita por Matthew Kelly que es
asombrosamente verdadera: Las personas
más felices que conozco son también las
personas más generosas que conozco.
A la inversa también, las personas tacañas
son las personas más infelices que conozco
así. ¿ Que es una coincidencia? No creo. El
mundo propone egoísmo como el camino a la
felicidad. Dios propone la generosidad como
el camino a la felicidad. Conozco mucha
gente egoísta, pero no conozco a nadie que
tenga una felicidad profunda y duradera. Las
personas egoístas siempre parecen inquietas y
descontentas.
La
felicidad
que
experimentamos a través del egoísmo es
fugaz porque depende de circunstancias
externas. Pero también sé de
algunas
personas muy generosas, y su felicidad no
depende de que las cosas vayan bien en su
camino o en conseguir lo que quieren; su
felicidad está enraizada en la vida de Dios.
Esta felicidad, este gozo nace de algo que está
ocurriendo dentro de ellos. Todos estamos
invitados a esa vida."
Lo mas pronto y profundo que llegamos a
creer y confiar en Dios y en el nivel de
generosidad, más pronto podremos disfrutar
de la profundidad de sus bendiciones en
nuestras vidas.

Month. This year's theme is "Every Life is
Worth Living". Cardinal Sean O'Malley tells
us "When we encounter suffering of
another, let us reach out and embrace them
in love, allowing God to work through us.
This might mean slowing down and taking
the time to listen. It might mean providing
respite care or preparing meals for a family
facing serious illness. It might mean simply being present
and available. And of course it always means prayer bringing their needs before the Father and asking Him to
work in their lives."

LAUGH LINES – Jake and Junior liked to hunt. Hearing about a
big moose up north, they went to the wilds of Canada. Each
bagged a huge moose. When their pilot landed to take them out,
he saw their gear and the two moose. “I can’t fly out of here with
you, your gear and both moose,” he said. ‘Why not?” asked
Jake. “Because the load will be too heavy, the plane won’t be
able to take off.” They argued for a few minutes, and then Junior
said, “I don’t understand. Last year, each of us had a moose, and
the pilot loaded everything.” “Well,” said
the pilot, “I guess if you did it last year,
I can do it, too.” So they loaded the
plane. But, it was too heavy
and
crashed
into
the
Mountainside. No one was
hurt, and as they crawled out
of the wreckage, Jake asked, “Where are we?” Junior surveyed
the scene and answered, “Oh, about a mile farther than we got
last year.”

REFLEXION SOBRE LAS ESCRITURAS - Dios de verdad
provee a aquellos que son agradecidos y generosos. Esto es
muy difícil para las personas que no viven una vida de servicio.
La gente es escéptica y dice que es solo una coincidencia. Si
usted es escéptico, trate de vivir una vida de servicio por solo un
mes - sea generoso con sus dones de tiempo, talento y tesoros y
vea como Dios provee para sus necesidades. En la segunda
lectura de hoy, San Pablo agradece a los Filipenses por
compartir de Buena voluntad en su penuria y promete que Dios, a
su vez, les proveerá de lleno en todas sus necesidades.
¡Verdaderamente nuestro Dios no puede ser superado en
generosidad! “Cuando pases por las aguas, yo estaré contigo; y
si por los rios, no te anegarán. Cuando pases por el fuego, no te
quemarás, ni la llama arderá en ti”. (Isaías 43:2).

El domingo 25 de octubre, la Iglesia San Jerónimo
celebrará el DOMINGO MUNDIAL DE LAS MISIONES.
Los Católicos de todo el mundo estamos llamados a ofrecer en
esta Celebración Eucarística, nuestras oraciones y nuestro
generoso aporte financiero a través de la Propagación de la Fe
para continuar la misión de nuestro Señor de ayudar a los
pobres y a los que sufren a experimentar el amor sanador y la
paz de Jesús. Nos uniremos durante la Misa para
comprometernos de nuevo a nuestra vocación misionera
adquirida a través del Bautismo. Al rezar y responder durante el
Domingo Mundial de Las Misiones en nuestra parroquias,
estamos haciendo lo mismo que también está ocurriendo en cada
parroquia y capilla alrededor del mundo al mismo tiempo.
¡Nuestros mismos hermanos y hermanas en las misiones se
encuentran ofreciendo sus oraciones y sacrificios para que otros
puedan llegar a conocer a Jesús!
Esta fecha es muy importante en la vida de la Iglesia, para
impulsar en los bautizados el espíritu misionero y solidario para
ayudar a los más necesitados. Por ello, todas las colectas que
se recaben, serán destinadas íntegramente a las misiones.
¡TODOS SOMOS MISIONEROS! ¿Recuerdas la fecha de tu
bautismo? Esta fecha es de lo mas importante ya que a partir de
alli te convertiste en un misionero.
