Drawing Conclusions
Realidades Nombre Fecha Lectura, pp. 468–469 Drawing Conclusions To draw a conclusion is to form an opinion based on evidence. Sometimes the evidence presented to readers is very limited, but they must ensure that their evidence-based opinions make sense. Conclusion statements are rarely right or wrong. They are often presented as believable or not. If you are successful at drawing conclusions from your reading, then you likely are skilled at finding evidence in your reading that supports your conclusions. Conclusions are only as strong as the evidence on which they are based. Conclusions based on little evidence are not as believable as conclusions based on a lot of different kinds of evidence. You must also be willing to change your conclusions as more evidence becomes available in the reading passage. Readers must be flexible in their thinking when drawing conclusions from multiple and varied pieces of evidence. When the pieces of evidence are similar or the amount of evidence is limited, drawing conclusions is not difficult. 1.
