Mr. Jean Vincent, President and General Manager of SaCCA, announced that the Aboriginal Savings Corporation of Canada will issue two new series of bonds in cooperation with the Conseil de la Nation huronne-wendat. The two bond series total $5.5 million; $3.5 million for bond issue CNHW 2012-A and $2 million for bond issue CNHW 2012-B. The interest rate for the five-year term is 4% per year and the ten-year term has an interest rate of 4.5% per year. Both may be purchased by Quebec residents only. The bond issue offered in multiples of $1,000 will be available from April 1, 2012 to December 31 , 2012 or until sold out. We invite you to refer to documentation regarding this bond issue on the ABSCAN website. Mr. Vincent noted that this investment product allows Natives to take advantage of a financing mechanism adapted to their needs that also contributes to promoting their economic development. He further added , "The creation of ABSCAN, initiated by SaCCA, has responded to precise needs expressed by a large number of Aboriginal people over the years." The primary goal of ABSCAN is to properly align the needs of investors and those of Aboriginal borrowers operating in the context of Indian reserves. First Nations and Inuit Education Position in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education, McGill University The Department of Integrated Studies in Education invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Qualified candidates will hold a doctoral degree in pedagogy or the equivalent, with experience directly related to teaching in First Nations and Inuit contexts and will be able to demonstrate a research program related to this area. Knowledge of Canadian First Nations and Inuit communities will be an asset. The successful applicant will be expected to assume Directorship of the Department's First Nations and Inuit Education program, which includes liaison with partners throughout Quebec. Responsibilities will include teaching and student-teacher supervision at the B.Ed. level as well as teaching and thesis supervision in our MA and PhD programs. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2012. Experience working in schools and an ability to function in French will be assets for this position .
