. How appropriate today’s Gospel for this Jubilee Year
of Mercy, both because of the “breakfast” Jesus
provides (“a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread”)
and the number of fish in Peter’s net (“one hundred
fifty-three”) (John 21:11–12). Of the fish, Saint
Augustine suggests that the roasted fish is the
suffering Christ. Saint Gregory the Great adds that
Christ lowered himself to swim in the “water” of our
humanity; to be caught in the “net” of our death; to
be “roasted” in his Passion on the fire of suffering.
Saint Jerome claims that “one hundred fifty-three”
represents the full number of known species of fish,
signifying that the Church’s “net” has room for all
our widely diverse humanity, securing our unity-indiversity in the hands of Peter and his successors.
Having received God’s mercy as “the beating heart of
the Gospel,” may the Church—we—“pattern [our]
behavior after the Son of God who went out to
everyone without exception”
(Misericordiae Vultus, 12).

REDEMPTION
Do you remember Peter on the night Jesus was
arrested? He claimed he had never heard of Jesus.
Today we are called to join Peter in testifying to the
name of Jesus as he does in the first reading, and in
proclaiming our love for him as Peter does in the
Gospel passage. The powerful imagery of John’s
vision in the second reading from the book of
Revelation shows us the company we keep when we
have faith in the name of Jesus. We join all living
creatures, “countless in number” from “heaven, earth,
under the earth, in the sea; everything in the
universe” (Revelation 5:11, 13). The dignity and
majesty described in each reading are in stark
contrast to the dark and pitiful image of Peter and the
other apostles at the time of Jesus’ arrest, trial, and
crucifixion. What a relief that we can all be redeemed
so completely!

OPEN INVITATION
Come and see. Are you searching for a Church to call
your own? Do you struggle with questions about life,
death, suffering, hope, forgiveness, love, God? Sessions
exploring these and other issues in relation to our

SCHOOL NEWS
St. Polycarp School completed its accreditation visit on
March 9, 2016, a process that schools normally undergo
once every six years, and the results of the study were better
than anyone could have hoped for.
The faculty and staff of St. Polycarp School wish to thank
the visitors of the Western Catholic Educational Association
team, who gave their time and energy to helping St.
Polycarp School with this self-study process. We would
equally like to thank the Diocese of Orange for the support
and help they provided the school in this process.
We also wanted to share a message from Steve Stutz, the
Chairperson of the WCEA visiting team, who spoke of St.
Polycarp School saying this: "“I want to thank you and the
entire school community for such wonderful
hospitality. You and the faculty/staff have done such a
wonderful job in such a short time. Today at our Diocesan
Principals' Day of Prayer, I shared with several principals
that I have never experienced, on more than 25
accreditation school visits, the Catholic Identity I witnessed
at St. Polycarp Catholic School. It is truly exemplary!!
Keep up the good work you are doing for God. I will
remember St. Polycarp Catholic School in my prayers as I
frequently do for all the schools I have visited, however, St.
Polycarp Catholic School does have a special place in my
heart. Please share this message with the entire community."

Knights will be at all exits of the

needed for our parish. These various upgrades are
needed for safety and beautification. These project
requests have come from our many councils who assist
me with parish operations.

A vendor has been selected to repair the safety glass

39th Annual ODCCW Conference scheduled for Tuesday,
April 19 at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Huntington
Beach. The event will feature a breakout session with
three workshops. Sister Barbra Ostheimer, SND, will
speak in the spirituality workshop on "Becoming Who
God Calls Me to Be", Dr. Phil Johnston will speak in the
leadership workshop on "Women in Leadership", and Fr.
Dan Wilder will speak in the service workshop on “Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations”. Harpist,
Sara Hsiao, will perform during lunch. Event time from

BAUTISMOS PASOS :
Papás y padrinos, deberan asistír el primer Domingo del mes a las 10:00 am para registrar a su
hijo(a) y al mísmo tiempo para tomar la clase
requerida.
Padres: Traer una copia del certificado de
nacimiento de su hijo(a). No traiga el original.

la virgen de Guadalupe de nuestra iglesia, las

Ese tipo de veladoras producen mucho
humo dejando una capa de humo negro en las
paredes de la capilla. Por favor prenda
solamente las veladoras que puede comprar en

Año Jubilar de la Misericordia

Tercer Domingo de Pascua
Que tan oportuno el Evangelio de hoy para este Año
Jubilar de la Misericordia, esos detalles que hay en
esta historia: “el desayuno” que Jesús prepara (asa unos
pescados en el fuego) y el número de peces en la red de
Pedro (“ciento cincuenta y tres”) (Juan 21:11-12).
Acerca de los pescados, san Agustín dice “los pescados
asados son símbolo de Cristo sufriente”. San Gregorio
el Grande también dice: Cristo mismo bajo a las
“aguas” de nuestra humanidad; para ser atrapado en la
‘red’ de nuestra muerte; para ser ‘asados’ en su Pasión
del fuego del sufrimiento”. San Jerónimo clama que los
“ciento cincuenta y tres” representan el número de
especies conocidas de peces, significando que la “red”
de la Iglesia tiene espacio para todas las personas,
reafirmando nuestra unidad en la diversidad en las
manos de Pedro y sus sucesores. Habiendo recibido la
misericordia de Dios como el “corazón palpitante del
Evangelio”, que la Iglesia —nosotros— hagamos “suyo
el comportamiento del Hijo de Dios que sale a
encontrar a todos, sin excluir ninguno” (Misericordiae
Vultus, 12).

SỨ MẠNG CỦA GIÁO XỨ.
Giáo xứ Thánh Polycarp may mắn có nhiều nền văn hóa và sự sống động của các chương trình mục vụ khác nhau
của các cộng đồng giáo dân, điều này đem đến một làn gió thánh thiện chào đón mọi người, đặc biệt là giới trẻ, là
những người mong muốn có một đời sống đạo sâu xa hơn với Chúa Giêsu Kitô. Như là những môn đệ của Chúa,
chúng ta giúp cho những người nghèo đói, đây là cuộc hành trình đức tin dành cho các anh chị em chúng ta trên
con đường sống đạo mới với niềm hy vọng và lòng can đảm, trong một công việc bác ái an toàn và vui vẻ.
THÔNG BÁO CỘNG ĐOÀN.
1- Giờ chầu Thánh Thể thinh lặng.- Xin Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa
lưu ý: Giáo xứ có giờ chầu Thánh Thể thinh lặng từ 3giờ30 đến
5giờ chiều vào mỗi chiều Thứ Bảy. Xin kính mời Cộng đoàn
Dân Chúa cùng đến tham dự giờ chầu nêu trên.
2- Buổi sinh hoạt của Liên Nhóm Cursillo.- Liên Nhóm
Cursillo của Cộng đoàn có buổi sinh hoạt hằng tháng vào lúc
2giờ30 chiều Chúa Nhật ngày 10 tháng 4 năm 2016 tại phòng
họp thường lệ. Kính mời quí anh chị Cursillistas tham dự.
3- Ngày Giáo Xứ chầu Thánh Thể.- Giáo xứ chầu Thánh Thể
vào Thứ Sáu ngày 22 tháng 4 năm 2016. Cộng đoàn sẽ có 2 giờ
chầu: lúc 3giờ chiều do Hội Cầu Nguyện phụ trách và 8giờ tối
do Hội Lêgiô Mariae phụ trách. Kính mời Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa
sốt sắng tham dự.
4- Rửa Tội bằng tiếng Việt cho các em nhỏ.- Giáo xứ sẽ Rửa
Tội bằng tiếng Việt cho các em nhỏ trong Giáo xứ vào lúc
2giờ30 trưa Chúa Nhật ngày 24 tháng 4 năm 2016. Lớp hướng
dẫn cho Cha Mẹ và người Đỡ Đầu từ 7 đến 9giờ tối Thứ Ba
ngày 19 tháng 4 năm 2016 tại phòng sinh hoạt trước đài Đức
Mẹ. Xin có mặt đầy đủ và đúng giờ.
5- Buổi sinh hoạt vủa Huynh Đoàn Đaminh.- Huynh Đoàn
Đaminh Vinh Sơn Liêm của Cộng đoàn sẽ có buổi sinh hoạt vào
2giờ chiều Chúa Nhật ngày 24 tháng 4 năm 2016 tại phòng họp
thường lệ. Kính mời các Đoàn viên tham dự đông đủ.
6- Giáo xứ tổ chức Hội Chợ Fiesta năm 2016.- Năm nay Giáo
xứ sẽ tổ chức Hội Chợ Fiesta vào các ngày 15, 16 và 17 tháng 4
năm 2016 tại khuôn viên Thánh đường. Cũng như mọi năm,
chương trình gồm các gian hàng ăn, các gian hàng trò chơi và
ride tickets. Vào buổi tối có văn nghệ giúp vui. Đặc biệt năm
nay, Cộng đoàn Việt Nam có chương trình văn nghệ giúp vui từ
5giờ chiều đến 10giờ đêm Thứ Bảy. Giáo xứ củng có cuộc xổ số
mỗi vé là $2.00 (USDollar) với các lô trúng là $3,000.00 –
$1,000.00 - $500.00 và 5vé an ủi là $100.00. Giáo xứ cũng kêu
gọi giáo dân tình nguyện đến giúp đỡ trong các công việc tổ
chức cũng như điều hành các gian hàng và các công tác phụ
thuộc khác. Công đoàn tha thiết kêu gọi toàn thể Cộng đoàn Dân
Chúa tích cực hưởng ứng và tham gia dưới mọi hình thức để cho
Hội Chợ đạt kết quả tốt.
7- Bữa tiệc tri ân cha mẹ.- Nhân ngày Hiền Mẫu (Mother’s
Day) năm nay, Cộng đoàn sẽ tổ chức một bữa tiệc tri ân cha mẹ
vào lúc 5giờ chiều Chúa Nhật ngày 8 tháng 5 năm 2016 tại nhà
hàng Dimond Seafood Palace, địa chỉ: 8058 Lamson Ave,
Garden Grove, CA 92841. Giá mỗi phần ăn là $30.00
(USDollar). Chương trình có văn nghệ giúp vui do môt số ca sĩ
tại Orange County và các nghệ sĩ cây nhà lá vườn của Cộng
đoàn. Kính mời Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa, nhất là các bạn trẻ đưa
cha mẹ cùng đến tham dự. Xin liên lạc Ban Thường Vụ hoặc
ban chấp hàn các đoàn thể trong Cộng đoàn để lấy vé tham dự.

8- Thực hiện tập kỷ yếu cho dịp Lễ Ngân Khánh của Cộng
đoàn.- Để chuẩn bị cho dịp mừng Ngân Khánh ngày thành lập
vào tháng 10 năm 2016 sắp tới, Cộng đoàn sẽ thực hiện một
cuốn Kỷ Yếu để giới thiệu về quá trình hình thành, xây dựng,
phát triển trong 25 năm qua và hướng tới tương lai của Cộng
đoàn. Kỷ yếu cũng ghi lại những kỷ niệm, tâm tư, tình cảm của
quí Cha, quí Tu sĩ nam nữ và các thành phần Dân Chúa đã và
đang sinh hoạt trong Cộng đoàn. Kính xin quí Cha, quí Tu sĩ
nam nữ, các Đoàn thể - Ban ngành và Cộng đoàn Dân Chúa đã
và đang sinh hoạt trong Cộng đoàn tiếp tay đóng góp bài vở,
hình ảnh và tư liệu, hầu cuốn Kỷ yếu có thể phản ảnh được hết
mọi sinh hoạt, có nội dung phong phú, trở thành tài liệu lưu lại

ƠN TOÀN XÁ TRONG “NĂM THÁNH LÒNG THƯƠNG
XÓT”
Đức Thánh Cha Phanxicô đã công bố mở Năm Thánh đặc biệt
gọi là “NĂM THÁNH LÒNG THƯƠNG XÓT”. Năm Thánh
bắt đầu với việc mở Cửa Thánh tại Đền thờ Thánh Phêrô vào
ngày 8 tháng 12 năm 2015, ngày lễ Đức Mẹ Vô Nhiễm, và kết
thúc vào ngày 20 tháng 11 năm 2016, ngày lễ Chúa Giêsu Kitô
Vua.
Để đạt được ơn toàn xá trong “Năm Thánh Lòng Thương
Xót”, các Kitô hữu cần:
* Không mắc tội trọng.
* Lãnh nhận bí tích hòa giải.
* Tham dự Thánh lễ và rước Mình Thánh Chúa.
* Cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Thánh Cha (Kinh “Năm Thánh Lòng
Thương Xót”, Kinh Lạy Cha…)
* Đi hành hương tại các Thánh đường được chỉ định.

Nến trong bàn thờ Đức Mẹ Mễ Du (Our
Lady of Guadalupe)
Xin đừng đem nến mua từ các cửa hàng đến
đặt tại bàn thờ Đức Mẹ Mễ Du trong Thánh
đường chúng ta. Bởi vì những loại nến sản
xuất bán tại các cửa hàng thoát ra rất nhiều
khói đen khi đốt. Chính những khói đen này
sẽ làm cho các vách tường chung quanh bàn
thờ bị ám đen. Xin quý vị vui lòng mua nến tại
văn phòng giáo xứ. Chân thành cảm ơn sự
