With busy schedules and unforeseen circumstances, we
appreciate you getting your
children here each and every
day. Attendance habits are
developed early on and we
strive to support you and your
student(s) in being here every
day. With that being said, I
want to reiterate our pick-up
policy as well. The school
sessions end at 12:15 and
4:00. It is imperative that
students are picked up on
time. We do not have the
staff and are not licensed to
properly supervise your children when they are picked up
late. Ten minutes after the
session ends students are
brought to the main office
and parents/guardians are
notified. If a student is picked
up late on more than 3 occasions, a letter is sent home
and the family is in danger of
being withdrawn. Please be
aware of the time and pick up

The mission of the Aurora Public Schools Early Childhood
Education Department is to ensure that all preschool students will transition into kindergarten with the experiences
and skills necessary to reach high levels of learning throughout their academic careers. The ECE Department will provide
support to the APS Vista 2015 mission: “Teach every student
the knowledge, skills and values necessary to enter college or
a career and become a contributing member of society who
flourishes in a diverse, dynamic world.” The opportunities for
early learning provide a strong foundation that will help to
ensure academic success.

TIPS FOR COLD
WEATHER SAFETY
Winter is here, and it’s crucial we protect
our children from illness and injury due to
these cold temperatures, wind, ice and snow.
Bundling up and wearing protective equipment when outdoors is essential to ensure
that children are warm enough and safe from
the cold. Before your children go to school
or go outside to play, be sure they are wearing layered clothing which can be removed
easily when they are indoors, but stay warm
when outside. This includes a coat, hat,
gloves, and socks to keep warm. Because lifethreatening head injuries can occur, children
should wear helmets when participating in
winter sports activities such as sledding, skiing, or ice skating. Sunburn is possible during winter months, so apply sunscreen to
your child’s face and any other exposed skin
areas. Observe for signs of cold-related illness.
Symptoms include slurred speech, shivering,
and lethargy. Take your child indoors, remove
any wet clothing, and seek emergency care if
needed. Protect your children by following
these simple safety guidelines, and enjoy the
fun and beauty of Colorado’s winter wonderland!
Also—a reminder for January-- School-wide hearing screening will be on Monday, January
13th. This is done with the school nurse, Aurora
Public Schools Audiology department and personnel from Health Services. It will be lots of fun for
the children and will give all families helpful information about their children’s hearing.

Attention Parents/Guardians
Have you moved? Does Aurora Public Schools have a current address on file
for you? If not, you will need to visit Centralized Admissions (no appointment
necessary) to complete the “Student Demographic Change” form. You must
bring current ***proof of address and a photo I.D. with you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. If I move from one address to another within APS, how do I enroll
my child at the new school? Does my child have to change schools?
Any time a family changes their address, they must visit our Centralized Admissions
site to verify residency and complete the Student Demographic Change Form.
Once the address is verified, parents will be notified if there will be a change of
school. If there is a change of school, you will be issued an admission slip to take to
the new school.
Currently and subject to change, if the parent’s address changes during the school
year and the new address is no longer within the boundaries of the school, but still
within the District, the student may complete the school year at the school the student
is currently attending.
A student who becomes a nonresident of the District during the school year shall be
allowed to complete the current school year in the school that the student is attending,
unless that school becomes unavailable by the action of the Board of Education.
Q. I have several children that attend different schools. Will I need to contact
them, too?
No. Centralized Admissions will change the address and Centralized Admissions will
notify each school.
Q. If several families live at the same address will this change the address for
every family?
No. Each family has a separate household even if they share the same address. The
parent/legal guardian of each family is responsible for changing their own address.
Q. Where do I go and what are the hours?
Centralized Admissions is open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No appointment necessary. This office is open year-round (including fall, spring and summer breaks) but closed
district holidays and winter break.

Consejos para la Seguridad en Clima Frío
El invierno está aquí y es crucial que protejamos a nuestros hijos de
enfermedades y lastimaduras débido a las temperaturas heladas, el viento, el
hielo, y la nieve. Abrigarse y ponerse artículos de protección cuando están
afuera es esencial para asegurar que los niños se mantengan calientitos y
protegidos del frío. Antes que su hijo/a vaya a la escuela o salga a jugar afuera,
asegure que tengan varias capas de ropa que se puedan quitar fácilmente
cuando están adentro, pero mantenerse calientitos afuera. Esto incluye una
chamarra, una gorra, guantes, calcetines para estar calientitos. Porque hay
amenazas de la vida que pueden ocurrir y causar lesiones a la cabeza, los niños
deben usar cascos en la cabeza cuando participan en actividades deportivas del
invierno como esquí, patinaje sobre el hielo, trineo. Las quemaduras de sol
son posible durante los meses de invierno, aplique crema de sol a la cara de su

será el lunes 13 de enero. Esto se hace con la enfermera de la escuela, el
departamento de Audiología de las Escuelas Públicas de Aurora y el personal
de los Servicios de Salud. Será muy divertido para los niños y dará a todas las
familias información útil acerca de la audición de sus hijos.

Nuestros salones han estado trabajando duro para mantener a

dientes nuevo!

¿Se han cambiado de domicilio? ¿Tiene el distrito escolar de las Escuelas Públicas de Aurora su dirección actual registrada? Si su respuesta es “no”, entonces necesitarán visitar una
oficina de “Centralized Admissions” (la de matriculación centralizada), en cuales no se necesita hacer cita, para completar la forma “FORMA DE CAMBIOS DEMOGRÁFICOS DEL ESTUDIANTE”. Tiene que traer un ***comprobante actual de dirección y una identificación con fotografía.
Preguntas comunes
Pregunta: Si me cambio de domicilio a otro que también está dentro del distrito escolar de
las Escuelas Públicas de Aurora, entonces ¿cómo matriculo a mi hijo en la escuela nueva?
¿Mi hijo necesitaría cambiarse de escuela?
Cada vez que una familia se cambia de domicilio, ellos deben visitar el sitio de Matriculación Centralizada para comprobar su dirección y llenar la Forma de cambios demográficos del estudiante.
Una vez que se compruebe la dirección, se les notificará a los padres si habrá que cambiar de escuela o no. Si hay cambio de escuela, a ustedes se les entregará una nota de admisión (una
“admission slip”) para llevarla a la escuela nueva.
Si se cambia la dirección de los padres durante el ciclo escolar y la dirección nueva no está dentro
de los límites de la escuela pero aún está dentro de los límites del distrito escolar, entonces el estudiante puede terminar el ciclo escolar en la escuela a la cual asiste actualmente.
El estudiante que se convierte durante el ciclo escolares en una persona que no es habitante del
distrito escolar se le permitirá terminar el ciclo escolar actual en la escuela a la cual asiste, a menos
que no se pueda ofrecer esa escuela por alguna acción que tome el Consejo Directivo de Educación.
Pregunta: Tengo varios hijos que asisten a diferentes escuelas. ¿Tengo que contactar con
las escuelas también?
No. La oficina de Matriculación Centralizada cambiará la dirección y Matriculación Centralizada notificará a cada escuela.
Pregunta: Si varias familias viven en la misma dirección, ¿esto cambiará la dirección para cada familia?
No. Cada familia tiene un hogar aparte aunque tengan la misma dirección. El padre/tutor de cada
familia es responsable por cambiar su propia dirección.
Pregunta: ¿A dónde voy y cuáles son las horas de oficina?
La oficina de “Centralized Admissions” (las de matriculación centralizada) está abierta de lunes a viernes, desde las 7:30 a.m. hasta las 4:00 p.m. No se necesita hacer una cita. Esta
oficina está abierta durante todo el año (abierta durante los recesos de otoño, primavera y
verano), pero está cerrada durante los días festivos del distrito escolar y el receso de invierno.
