Dear Austin Academy Family,
Greetings! A hearty welcome goes out to our new students and a warm hello to those returning. I
hope your summer has gone well and that everyone is ready to begin on Monday, August 26, 2013.
The staff and I are delighted that you have entrusted your child’s education to us. It is our goal to
create an enriched learning environment where fine arts are incorporated. As your principal I am
excited about the school year and expect 2013-2014 to be a wonderful year.

We want all students to achieve success in academics and in the arts this year. It is my firm belief
that parents are a child’s first and most important teacher in life. They cannot achieve their full
potential without you supporting them on a daily basis. You can do this by ensuring that he/she
comes to school every day, encouraging reading (or reading to him/her) every night, monitoring
progress in class work and homework, and asking your child to share with you what was learned that
day. With your cooperation, dedication and support, we will work as a team to help your child have a
successful year.
This year we have a few additions to our staff. I will begin with myself! I am the new Principal of
Austin Academy and was honored when given this assignment. My experience with Austin Academy
in the past was always positive and the reputation of the school is to be commended. Other additions
to our Austin Academy Family are: Mr. D. Chavarria, Assistant Principal; Ms. D. Resendez, Kinder
Teacher; Ms. M. Mejia, 2nd grade Teacher; Ms. N. Medina, Middle School Teacher; Ms. M. Warren,
Middle School Teacher; Ms. E. Blasé, Middle School Teacher; Ms. H. Head, Librarian; and
Ms. B. Aldrete, Parent & Family Liaison. These staff members are great assets to our staff and I am
thrilled that they chose to join us.
You may be wondering how you can get involved here at school. Joining and being active in the
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a good way for you to support not only your own child, but all
students and staff at Austin Academy. You will hear more from our PTO throughout the school year
about their many activities. It is my hope to see a very active PTO this year where students will see
parents modeling the “Keys” that help one be successful; respect, responsibility, teamwork and
action. Parent volunteers are important resources to our school and volunteerism shows students the
importance of participating in the larger community. An active PTO and volunteers are a win-win
situation for all involved. The teachers benefit from the help offered, parents are more aware of the
day to day activities of their child, and students see that we work as a team to create success.
The Austin Academy staff and I are privileged to be partners with you this year. We thank you in
advance for your support and committed dedication to your child’s education.

¡Saludos! Una gran bienvenida a nuestros nuevos estudiantes y un cordial saludo a los que vuelven.
Espero que su verano haya ido bien y que cada uno esté listo para comenzar el lunes, 26 de agosto de
2013. El personal y yo estamos encantados que nos ha confiado la educación de su hijo. Es nuestro
objetivo de crear un ambiente de aprendizaje enriquecido donde las bellas artes se incorporan. Como su
directora estoy entusiasmada con el año escolar y espero que 2013-2014 sea un maravilloso año.

(Claves Para el Éxito: Respeto, Responsabilidad, Trabajo en Equipo, Acción)
Queremos que todos los estudiantes logren el éxito académico y en las artes este año. Creo firmemente
que los padres son los primeros y más importantes maestros en la vida de niños. No pueden alcanzar su
máximo potencial sin ustedes apoyándolos cada día. Ustedes pueden hacer esto al asegurar que él/ella
venga a la escuela todos los días, animar su hijo/a a leer (o lee usted a él/ella) cada noche, supervisar los
avances en el trabajo en clase y en las tareas, y pedir a su niño que comparte con ustedes lo que fue
aprendido ese día. Con su cooperación, dedicación y apoyo, trabajaremos juntos para ayudar a su hijo a
tener un año exitoso.
Este año tenemos algunas adiciones a nuestro personal. ¡Comenzaré conmigo! Soy la nueva Directora de
Austin Academy y fue un honor ser nombrada como directora. Mi experiencia con Austin Academy
siempre ha sido positiva y la reputación de la escuela es digna de elogio. Otras adicciones a nuestra
Familia de Austin Academy son: D. Chavarria, Vice Director; D. Resendez, Maestra de Kinder;
M. Mejia, Maestra de 2o grado; N. Medina, Maestra de Escuela Intermedia; M. Warren, Maestra de
Escuela Intermedia; E. Blase, Maestra de Escuela Intermedia; H. Head, Bibliotecaria; y B. Aldrete,
Enlace de Padres & Familia. Estos miembros son un gran beneficio para nuestro personal y estoy
encantada de que eligieron a unirse a nosotros.
Puede que se pregunten cómo pueden involucrarse en la escuela. Unir y ser un miembro activo en el
Organización de Padres y Maestras (Parent Teacher Organization, PTO) es una buena manera para
apoyar no sólo su propio hijo, sino que todos los alumnos y el personal de Austin Academy. Usted
escuchará más de nuestro PTO durante el año escolar sobre sus actividades. Deseo ver un PTO activo
este año donde los estudiantes verán padres modelado las "claves" que ayudan a uno tener éxito;
respeto, responsabilidad, trabajar en equipo y acción. Los voluntarios son importantes recursos a nuestra
escuela y ofreciendo tiempo muestra a los estudiantes la importancia de participar en la comunidad más
grande. Tener un activo PTO y voluntarios es una ventaja para todos los involucrados. Los maestros se
benefician de la ayuda ofrecida, los padres son más conscientes de las actividades diarias de sus hijos, y
los estudiantes ven que trabajamos como un equipo para crear éxito.
El personal de Austin Academy y yo tenemos el privilegio de trabajar con usted este año. Gracias de
antemano por su apoyo y dedicación comprometida a la educación de su hijo.
