El silencio como forma de censura
A mediados de marzo pasado, los profesores norteamericanos John Mearsheimer y Stephen
Walt dieron a conocer un trabajo académico de su autoría titulado “El lobby de Israel y la política
exterior de los Estados Unidos” (The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy), el cual reproducimos
en sus conceptos fundamentales en el Boletín del CCP Nro 116, agregado a la presente edición.
El documento ha sido sistemáticamente ignorado por la prensa del Régimen en la Argentina, lo
que indica que de hecho se ha llevado a cabo una operación de censura, a excepción de la única nota
que he encontrado hasta el momento, cuyo autor es el escritor Juan Gelman (“No todo lo idéntico es
igual”) y que a mi entender es inexplicable que lo haya publicado Página 12 (27 de marzo ppdo.),
debido a su confirmada tendencia sionista y porque Gelman no se suma a la crítica, sino más bien
transcribe pasajes del trabajo considerados urticantes por las organizaciones judías. Creo - sin que
ello implique jactancia alguna- que gran parte de los que en el país tomaron conocimiento del mencionado trabajo, lo hicieron a través de los correos electrónicos que emitieron los Centros Cívicos
Patrióticos informando anticipadamente de su reunión mensual para el 11 de abril pasado, en la que
se preveía comentarlo, además de los luego se enviaron con el igual objeto, teniendo en vista la disertación que debía realizar en la ciudad de Córdoba sobre el mismo tema, el 20 del mismo mes.
En los Estados Unidos, en el supuesto reino de la democracia y de la libertad de opinión, el tratamiento tampoco fue muy diferente. Su difusión se redujo a su colocación en el sitio oficial de Internet de la Universidad de Harvard, por iniciativa de ambos profesores y por tratarse de un trabajo
académico. Por lo demás, fue ampliamente y voluntariamente desconocido por la prensa, salvo cuando se publicaron artículos que descalificaban a los autores y a sus razonamientos, además de asignar-

les la categoría de “antisemitas”, ya sea que fueran originados por miembros de la Liga Atidifamación de la logia masónica B’nai Brith o por los voceros de las más importantes organizaciones afines
al Estado de Israel y neo-conservadoras.
Mearsheimer y Walt no fueron sorprendidos por esa actitud, ya que ellos mismos lo anticipan en
el estudio, cuando al describir la “manipulación de los medios” por el Lobby sentencian: “Es difícil
imaginar que cualquier publicación, de los medios dominantes en los Estados Unidos, edite un
trabajo como éste.”
Una cuestión decisiva
El problema con el referido documento radica en que difunde conceptos críticos y realiza significativos cuestionamientos a la influencia decisiva que tiene el Lobby de Israel en el diseño de la
política norteamericana, efectuados desde una perspectiva académica y con seriedad científica y dentro de un ámbito de iguales características. Con un total de 82 páginas - 40 de desarrollo y 42 de
referencias- se colocan al desnudo las estructuras de poder, los medios y los procedimientos que utiliza el amplio espectro de organizaciones pro-israelíes para orientar la política exterior norteamericana, en la dirección que permita satisfacer los intereses del Estado de Israel. Al mismo tiempo, pone al
descubierto los diversos mecanismos con que el Lobby condiciona la opinión pública norteamericana, para que no interfiera y se mantenga alineada con sus objetivos, para lo cual neutralizan, simultáneamente, las voces que se opongan y se manifiesten críticas a esa dominación silenciosa e inadvertida.
En síntesis, los autores han lanzado su estudio para que se abra el debate en los Estados Unidos
sobre la cuestión del Lobby de Israel, cuestión que precisamente éste no lo quiere hacer y pretende
seguir manteniéndolo en el silencio y desconocido para la masa de la población norteamericana.
¿Mearsheimer y Walt han descubierto algo nuevo? No. Todo lo que ellos exponen ya es conocido y viene siendo denunciado desde hace décadas en el más absoluto aislamiento y soledad, por
uno u otro autor o por grupos de patriotas y nacionalistas norteamericanos, a través de una multitud
de pequeñas publicaciones gráficas, radiales y televisivas, todas de alcance local y tirada restringida.
Por ejemplo, en la publicación norteamericana The Nation, el periodista Michael Massing en su artículo “The Israel Lobby” (10 de junio de 2002), denuncia brevemente y en tres carillas la existencia
real del mencionado Lobby. Su línea argumental es idéntica a la que cuatro años más tarde saldría a
la luz con la firma de Mearsheimer y Walt. Paradójicamente Massing, en su último párrafo - refiriéndose a la influencia que ejercen las organizaciones más poderosas que integran el Lobby de Israel- se
pregunta: ¿no es tiempo de que éstas fueran expuestas a la luz del día?
Precisamente, eso es lo que acaban de hacer estos dos autores en un acto realmente valioso y
ejemplar, porque han “expuesto a la luz del día” la existencia de un poder omnipresente, concreto y
real que determina y condiciona la vida del pueblo norteamericano y al cual nadie quiere reconocerle
entidad, por temor, por miedo, por terror. Su mérito radica, principalmente, en que:
Reúne y sistematiza, con abundante fundamentación y en un solo documento, las más importantes ponencias críticas respecto a este estado de cosas que es considerado inaceptable y lesivo para
los reales intereses norteamericanos.
Sustrae dicho tema de la influencia política-ideológica – que muchas veces se degrada por la
práctica panfletaria y de escaso nivel intelectual- y elevarlo a la categoría de un documento
académico para que sea debatido en ese ámbito científico.
Como consecuencia de los aspectos anteriores, aleja la cuestión del Lobby de Israel de la consabida discusión religiosa y racial – de donde no se permita que salga- para llevarla al campo de la
racionalidad política. De este modo, por un lado se elude lastimar la extrema sensibilidad de la
comunidad judía respeto a las “persecuciones y a la discriminación” y, por el otro, se evita la
descalificación ideológica y moral o con el simple mote despectivo de “conspirativo”, “antisemita” o “nazi-fascista” de aquellos que, con fundadas razones, son críticos del Lobby y del Estado
de Israel.

Lo que resulta inaceptable para el Lobby de Israel, es que se ponga en discusión la posesión del
arsenal nuclear por parte de la nación judía, y que ésta pueda ser obligada a colocarse en un pie de
igualdad con el resto de los países del mundo, sometidos a un estricto control para evitar la proliferación de armas nucleares. Precisamente, ese es otro de los aspectos sensibles que Mearsheimer y
Walt exponen a la luz del día y que estimo resulta de vital importancia en estos momentos en
los que se habla de una guerra contra Irán, por las mismas razones que el Estado de Israel ha
logrado eludir sistemáticamente hasta ahora.
En otras palabras, los dos profesores norteamericanos rompieron el “tabú” de que personas respetables, prestigiosas y de jerarquía intelectual, hablaran en público sobre la agenda pro-israelí de los
neo-conservadores y del rol decisivo que juega en eso el Lobby de Israel.
El ataque y la descalificación de los autores
El grado de importancia y seriedad del estudio de Mearsheimer y Walt está dado por los antecedentes personales de excelencia académica de ambos autores. Además de numerosos libros, anteriormente habían publicado el artículo “Una guerra innecesaria” en la revista Foreign Policy (Enero-Febrero de 2003), donde expresan una visión muy crítica de las causas que se argumentaban para
ir a la guerra, a través de un ataque preventivo contra Irak.
John Mearsheimer es profesor de ciencia política y co-director del Programa de Política de Seguridad Internacional en la Universidad de Chicago. Stephen M. Walt es decano académico y profesor en la Facultad Kennedy de Gobierno de la Universidad de Harvard. Ambos son miembros de la
Coalición para una Política Exterior Realista y son calificados como “realistas”. Los autores no son
skinheads neo-nazis ni “antisemitas”. Ahora bien, resulta paradójico, como lo informa en unos de sus
últimos artículos un conocido de nuestras páginas, Henry Makow, quien sostiene que Mearsheimer
y Walt son de origen judío (Henry Makow: “How the Elite Plays God”; 8 de abril;
http://www.savethemales.ca/001487.html).
Por su parte, el Lobby de Israel y sus partidarios han reaccionado con ferocidad contra ambos
profesores. Inmediatamente de publicado el documento lograron que las autoridades de Harvard les
quitaran de la tapa los “logos” de la Universidad, que tradicionalmente se colocan en todos los trabajos académicos. Simultáneamente, obligaron a que la Universidad insertara aclaraciones detalladas y
mucho más extensas y visibles que las usadas rutinariamente, en las que se expresaban que el trabajo
en cuestión no representaba la opinión de la institución y que eran posiciones absolutamente personales de los autores. A los pocos días el profesor Walt debió renunciar a su puesto de decano académico de la Facultad John F. Kenenedy de Gobierno, como consecuencia de las presiones que ejercieron
donantes partidarios del Lobby de Israel y que se manifestaron afectados por el documento publicado. Walt comentó al periodista Robert Fisk, un tanto jocosamente, que aprovecharía para tomarse un
año sabático
Inicialmente el trabajo tendría que haber sido publicado en el The Atlantic Monthly, pero sus
editores se volvieron repentinamente temerosos y como consecuencia de ello fue reimpreso en el
London Review of Books (Inglaterra), en forma abreviada (18 páginas), con la aceptación de los autores, que prefirieron eso antes que permaneciera totalmente desconocido (http://www.Irb.co.uk).
Disimulando o ignorando la realidad
Frente a esta campaña y una vez que el lector lea la síntesis que le ofrecemos en el Boletín del
CCP - que por lo que hasta ahora sabemos pareciera que somos los segundos en el mundo en publicar una compilación de sus conceptos más relevante- es muy probable que coincida con nuestra opinión, en cuanto a que los profesores Mearsheimer y Walt no han exagerado en nada el poder y la influencia que ejerce el Lobby de Israel en la vida política norteamericana.
En este punto, cabe tomar como propia la pregunta que se hace el periodista Robert Fisk - que
escribe para el Independent de Inglaterra (28 de abril de 2006)- al titular uno de sus artículos: ¿Los
Estados Unidos de Israel?

Si bien Fisk no profundiza ni desarrolla su duda, me pregunto en qué medida se trata de un interrogante o de una sugerente descripción de lo que constituye un hecho concreto de la realidad actual. Es decir: ¿hasta qué punto los Estados Unidos no son ya un “Imperio Conquistado” por el
Lobby de Israel?
En este punto no puedo dejar de recordar el libro que escribiera Norberto Ceresole en 1998: “La
conquista del Imperio Americano” (Ediciones Al-Andalus; Madrid). Aunque él no desarrolló el
tema en el sentido con que lo hacen los dos profesores norteamericanos, su título y la ilustración de
la tapa que se reproduce en esta página – que la ofrezco como un homenaje a su memoria- encierran
intuitivamente un misterioso y fuerte mensaje que avizora el futuro, como si se tratase de una profecía.
No estamos hablando de visiones, don que no poseemos, sino de hechos muy concretos y documentados. Mearsheimer y Walt no mienten ni han fabulado contra el Estado ni el Lobby de Israel.
Lo que ellos sostienen lo confesó el mismísimo Ariel Sharon, cuando el 3 de octubre de 2001 expresó ante algunos miembros del Keneset: “Cada vez que hacemos algo, se nos dice que los
EE.UU. van a responder así o asá… yo quiero aclarar, que no deben inquietarse por las presiones
americanas sobre Israel. Nosotros, el pueblo judío, controlamos a América y los americanos lo
saben” (Ratier, Emmanuel; “Una camarilla sionista detrás de la política norteamericana en Medio
Oriente”; Patria Argentina, junio de 2002, Pág. 7).
En mi opinión, lo que ambos profesores desarrollan sobre el Lobby de Israel, es un
reconocimiento tardío de lo que es una realidad mucho más grave. Personalmente, no puedo dejar de
coincidir con la afirmación de Sharon y con el estudio de los profesores Mearsheimer y Walt, pero al
integrar éstos y otros numerosos antecedentes, no puedo dejar de concluir respecto a lo que es un
dato incuestionable de la realidad: el Lobby de Israel, realmente controla los Estados Unidos y a los
norteamericanos y Norteamérica es un Imperio, para mal de los ciudadanos estadounidenses, que
ha sido inadvertidamente conquistado.
Finalmente, los lectores saben que todo lo que publicamos en Patria Argentina tiene por objeto
no sólo informar sino también inducir a la reflexión, y que el producto de esa reflexión se aplique y
sirva a nuestro interés nacional y a los fines de Reconquistar nuestra Independencia perdida. Frente a
este caso, aprecio que en nuestra reflexión los argentinos, por lo menos, deberíamos preguntarnos: Y
por casa ¿cómo andamos?

Silence as a form of censorship
In the middle of March 2006, the American professors John Mearsheimer and Stephen
Walt published an academic paper with the title "The Israel Lobby and U. S. Policy" which was
summarized in the issue PATRIA ARGENTINA of May, 2006 in the Bulletin of the Centros
Cívicos Patrióticos, supplement of Patria Argentina.
The document has been systematically ignored by the Argentinian government press, which
indicates that censorship is taking place, except that Juan Gelman mentions the document in "Not
everything identical is equal", and to me it is unexplainable that it was published by the newspaper
PÁGINA 12 on March 27, 2006, a Zionist leaning newspaper, and Gelman transcribes parts of the
paper that are considered controversial by the Jewish organizations. I think that the majority of those
who knew about it in this country acquired their knowledge by reading the e-mails sent by the
Centros Cívicos Patrióticos.
In the United States, where supposedly democracy reigns and freedom of speech exists, the
reaction was not different. Its diffusion was reduced to its publication on the Internet in the official
web site of Harvard University, through the initiative of both professors because it was an academic
paper. Besides that, it was ignored by the mainline press, except when articles were published disqualifying the authors and their analysis, besides labeling them as "anti-Semitic."
Mearsheimer and Walt were not surprised by this attack, since they themselves anticipated it
in their studies when they describe the "manipulation of the media" by the Lobby and say: "It is difficult that any publication by the dominant media in the United States would publish a paper
like this one."

A decisive question
The problem with the above mentioned documents is that it expresses critical ideas and presents important questions about the decisive influence and paradigm that the Israel Lobby has on
American politics, made from an academic perspective and data compiled with scientific seriousness
in a paper of 82 pages, 40 of text and 42 of notes, that display clearly the power, the means and the
procedures that utilize the wide range of the pro-Israelite organizations to influence the American
foreign politics in the direction to satisfy the interests of the state of Israel. At the same time, it exposes the diverse mechanisms with which the Israel Lobby controls and directs American public
opinion so that it does not interfere and continues to be aligned with the objectives of Israel. It neutralizes and silences simultaneously the voices that oppose them and those who manifest criticism of
those objectives and Israel’s domination.
The authors published their study in order to open the debate in the United States about the
Israel Lobby, something that Israel does not want to happen, and who wants to continue operating
silently and unkown to the majority of the American population.
Have Mearsheimer and Walt have discovered something new? No. Everything that they mention has already been known for decades by one or another author or groups of patriotic American
nationalists by means of a multitude of small graphic publications plus the radio, and television, all
with limited circulation. For example, in the American publication The Nation, the newspaper man
Michael Massing, in his article "The Israel Lobby" (June 10, 2002), he mentions briefly in three
pages, the existence of the above mentioned Lobby. His arguments are identical with what four years
later will come to light with the signature of Mearsheimer and Walt. Massing, in his last paragraph,
referring to the influence used by the more powerful organizations that make up the The Israel Lobby, he asks: "¿Is it not time that these would be exposed to the light of day?"
Precisely, this is what the above mentioned authors had done in an act really valuable and exemplary, because they "exposed to the light of day" the existence of a power omnipresent, concrete,
and real that determines and conditions the life of the American people of which no one wants to
recognize its existence because of fear or terror. Its merit is mainly in that:
Mearsheimer and Walt gather and systematize, with an abundance of information and in one
single document, the most important critical expositions about this state of affairs that is considered
unacceptable and damaging to the real American interests.
They take this subject from the political and ideological influences that many times are degraded by the pamphleteering tactics used and are of a very shallow intellectual level, and they elevate the subject to the category of an academic document susceptible to be debated in a scientific environment.
They distance the question of the Israel Lobby from the usual religious and racial discussion
- from where it is not allowed to get out - to elevate it to the field of political rationality. That way it
avoids hurting the extreme sensibility of the Jewish community about "persecutions and discrimination" and on the other hand, avoid the ideological and moral disqualification of the simple derogatory
labels of "conspiratorial", "anti- Semite", or "nazi-fascist" from those who, with well founded reasons, are critical of the Lobby and of the State of Israel.
What is unacceptable to the Israel Lobby is to put to discussion the possession of the nuclear arsenal of the State of Israel, and that it could be forced to be placed on equal footing with the
rest of the world’s countries, subjected to a strict control to avoid the proliferation of nuclear arms.
Precisely, this is another of the sensible aspects that Mearsheimer and Walt expose to the light
of day and that I think is of vital importance in these moments when there is talk about a war
with Iran, for the same reasons that the State of Israel has succeeded in avoiding systematically
until now.
In other words, the two American professors broke the "taboo" that respectable prestigious
persons, and highly intellectual could not speak in public about the pro-Israeli agenda of the neoconservatives, and of the decisive role that the Israel Lobby plays.

The attack to and disqualification of the authors
The degree of importance and seriousness of the study of Mearsheimer and Walt is given by
the personal antecedents of academic excellence of both authors. Besides numerous books, they had
already published the article "An unnecessary war" in the journal Foreign Policy (JanuaryFebruary 2003), where they express a vision very critical of the causes to justify the war by a
preemptive attack on Iraq.
John Mearsheimer is a professor of political science and co-director of the Program of International Political Security at the University of Chicago. Stephen M. Walt is the academic dean and
professor of the John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. Both are members
of the Coalition for a Realistic Foreign Policy and are mentioned as "realists." The authors are not
neo-nazi skindeads nor "anti-Semitic". Therefore, it seems paradoxical that Henry Makow says in
one of his latest articles that Mearsheimer and Walt are of Jewish origin (Henry Makow: "How the
Elite Plays God"; April 8th; http://www.savethemales.ca/001487.html).
On its part, the IsraelLobbythIssmmIsrael Lobby and its partisans have reacted with ferocity against both professors. Immediately after the publication of the document they suceeded in having the authorities of Harvard University removed the "logo" from the cover of the paper which traditionally is placed on all the academic papers. Simultaneously, they forced the University to insert
detailed clarifications, more extensive and visible than the usual ones, in which they stated that the
paper did not represent the opinion of the institution and that they were personal positions of the authors. A few days later professor Walt had to give up his position as academic dean and professor of
the John F. Kennedy School of Government, as a consequence of the pressure from donors to the
University and supporters of Israel. Walt commented to a newspaperman that he would use the opportunity to take a sabbatical year.
Initially the paper was going to be published in The Atlantic Monthly, but the editors got wet
feet because of it the paper was published in the London Review of Books in England, in shorter form
(18 pages), with the acceptance of the authors, who preferred this rather than the possibility it would
remain totally unknown (http://www.lrb.co.uk).
Hiding or ignoring the reality
Once the reader reads the summary that we offer him in the Bulletin of the Centros Cívicos
Patrióticos - that according to what we know now, it seems that we were the second ones in the
world to publish a summary of the most important concepts of The Israel Lobby - it is very probable that he or she agrees with our opinion that professors Mearsheimer and Walt have not exaggerated the power and the influence practiced by the Israel Lobby in the American political life.
We can appropriate the question made by the newspaperman Robert Fisk - who writes for
The Independent of England (April 28, 2006) - when he used as title for one of his articles: "The
United States of Israel?"
Fisk believes is to be a fact. I ask myself if is it only a question or a descriptive suggestion of
what is a concrete fact of the present reality. That is to say: up to what point is the United States is
an "Empire Conquered" by the Israel Lobby?
I am reminded of the book written by Norberto Cerosole in 1998: "The Conquest of the
American Empire" (Andalus Editions, Madrid). Even if he did not develop the theme the way it
was done by the two American professors, the title and the illustration on the cover of the book, reproduced on this page - which I offer as an homage to his memory - [The illustration is the American
flag with a large Star of David in the center.] it contains intuitively a mysterious and strong message
that looks prophetically into the future.
We are not talking about visions, a gift that we do not possess, but of very concrete and documented facts. Mearsheimer and Walt do not lie nor provide a fable against the State of Israel nor the
Israel Lobby. What they affirm was confessed by Ariel Sharon himself when on October 3, 2001, he

expressed in front of some members of the Knesset: "Each time we do something we are told that
the United States is going to respond this way or the other … I want to make it clear, that you
should not get upset for the American pressures on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control
America and the Americans know it." (Ratier, Emmanuel; "A Zionist lobby is behind the
American politic in the Middle East"; (Patria Argentina, June 2002, page 7).
In my opinion, what both professors develop about the Israel Lobby, is a late knowledge of
what is of a more serious reality. Personally, I cannot but agree with the affirmation of Sharon and
with the document of professors Mearsheimer and Walt, but to integrate these and other numerous
antecedents, I cannot but conclude what is an unquestionable fact of reality:The Israel Lobby really
controls the United States and the Americans, and The United States is an Empire who has
been conquered for the misfortune of the American citizens.
Finally, the readers know that everything that we publish has for a purpose not only to pass
along information but rather to induce one to reflection, and that the product of that reflection to be
applied and to serve the national interest of Argentina and to the goal to reconquer the lost independence. For this reason, I appreciate that in our reflection we, the Argentinian people, at least, should
ask ourselves: "How are things at home?"
