The IPN is one of the two largest educational institutions in Mexico. The Economic Development Network
conducts research in various fields of economics. The conference is aimed at providing a forum open to
researchers, policymakers, NGOs and the private sector to discuss and debate innovative theoretical and
empirical research and to suggest public policy on various fields of economic development.
CONFERENCE TOPICS
Possible theoretical, empirical and public policy topics include, but are not restricted to:
 International trade and foreign direct investment
 Economic growth with equity
 Sustainable regional development
 Income distribution and poverty reduction
 Studies of the small and medium-sized enterprises
 Educational innovation
 Innovation and technological development
 Financial and entrepreneurial innovation
 Public policy
 Transport and infrastructure
 Tourism and local development
SELECTION PROCESS AND IMPORTANT DATES
There is no charge for the conference; the participation fee is kindly sponsored by the IPN. Those interested in
participating should submit a draft paper in English or Spanish, which comprises theoretical or empirical
research and proposes public policy on the field of economic development and innovation. Please submit your
document as word file (docx) by August 1st 2014 to the following emails: [email protected],
[email protected]. The scientific committee will evaluate all proposals in terms of
originality, analytical rigor and relevance of policy implications. By August 15th 2014, the organizing committee
will announce the decision via email. The program and other information on the conference will be released
before September 26th 2014. The speakers will receive a participation certificate.
PAPER FORMAT
Please submit your document with the following characteristics:
 Unpublished paper
 Attach an identification sheet containing authors name and institution, email and phone contact
 No larger than 15 pages or 6,000 words, considering the whole paper
 Font in times new roman, size 12 and single-spaced
 Figures and tables in an editable format
 Margins: top 2.5, bottom 2.5, left 3.0, right 3.0
 References in Harvard system
