I Am God's Ambassador
Many governments have placed high-ranking diplomatic agents in many
countries to act as their official representatives. In the Old Testament
ambassadors were used to congratulate another leader on his ascension to
a throne (2 Samuel 10:2; 1 Kings 5:1) and were usually men of high rank.
Their duties were varied and included protesting against a wrong that had
been committed (Judges 11:12); soliciting favors (Numbers 20:14); and
securing alliances with other countries (Joshua 9:3). Regardless of the
context, it was understood that the message delivered by an ambassador
was to be considered the very words of the king he represented.
Considering the nature of the job of an ambassador helps shed light on a
job that God has given to Christians, His “sons.” In writing to the church
in Corinth, Paul said, “We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though
God were making His appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
Several conclusions can be drawn from this analogy:
We are foreigners on this earth because “our citizenship is in heaven”
(Philippians 3:20).
Our job is to represent the King of kings. “We are therefore Christ's
ambassadors...” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
The message that we have been given is directly from God. "... God
was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men's
sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of
reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19).
Those who reject us are really rejecting God. “If the world hates you,
keep in mind that it hated Me first. If you belonged to the world, it
would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but
I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you”
(John 15:18-19).
Final Thought - Do you represent Christ the way you would want
someone to represent you?

Muchos gobiernos han colocado diplomáticos de alto rango en muchos
países para que hagan el papel de representantes oficiales de ellos. En el
Antiguo Testamento, los embajadores se utilizaban para alabar a otro
líder en su ascensión al trono (2 Samuel 10:2; 1 Reyes 5:1) y
generalmente eran hombres de alto rango. Su trabajo podía variar y
también incluía el poder protestar contra alguna injusticia que se hubiera
cometido (Jueces 11:12), pedir algún favor (Números 20:14), y el poder
asegurar algún pacto con otro país (Josué 9:3). Sin importar el contexto,
se entendía que el mensaje que iba a ser entregado por el embajador se
podía considerar como las propias palabras expresadas por el rey, al cual
él representaba.
Al considerar la naturaleza del trabajo de un embajador, eso nos ayuda a
entender el trabajo que Dios ha puesto a costa de los cristianos, Sus
“hijos.” Al escribir a los creyentes de la Iglesia de Corinto, Pablo
dijo: “Así que, somos embajadores en nombre de Cristo, como si Dios
rogara por medio de nosotros” (2 Corintios 5:20).
Varias conclusiones se pueden sacar de esta analogía:
Somos extranjeros en esta tierra porque “nuestra ciudadanía está en
los cielos” (Filipenses 3:20).
Nuestro trabajo es representar al Rey de Reyes. “Por lo tanto somos
embajadores de Cristo...” (2 Corintios 5:20).
El mensaje que se nos ha dado es directamente de Dios. "Dios estaba
en Cristo reconciliando consigo al mundo, no tomándoles en cuenta a
los hombres sus pecados, y nos encargó a nosotros la palabra de la
reconciliación” (2 Corintios 5:19).
Aquellos que nos rechacen están realmente rechazando a Dios. "Si el
mundo os odia, sabed que a Mí Me ha odiado antes que a vosotros. Si
fuerais del mundo, el mundo amaría lo suyo; pero porque no sois del
mundo, antes yo os elegí del mundo, por eso el mundo os odia” (Juan
15:18-19).
Pensamiento Final - ¿Representas a Cristo de la manera que te gustaría
que alguien te representara?

predicts God’s judgment which is carried out when the
Babylonian empire overruns the Assyrians.
