My Father is glorified when you bear much
Today, the Gospel offers us the allegory of the vine and the branches. Christ is the true vine, we are the
branches and the Father is the vine grower.
The Father wants us all to bear abundant fruit. It is quite logical. The vine grower plants his vine so that it
bears much fruit. If we set up a company, we want it to be profitable. Jesus insists: «It was not you who chose me,
but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain» (Jn 15:16).
You have been chosen. God has taken notice of you. Through the Baptism He has grafted you onto the true
vine that is Christ. You have Christ’s life, our Christian life. You own the main element to bear fruit: your union
with Christ, for Jesus says it quite clearly: «Apart from me you can do nothing» (Jn 15:5). «His strength is nothing
but mildness; nothing is so strong as gentleness, but nothing is so gentle as real strength» (St. Francis of Sales).
How many things have you been trying to do without Christ? The fruit the Father is expecting from us is that of the
good deeds and the practice of the virtues. Which is the union with Christ that allows us to bear these fruits? Faith
and charity, that is, to remain in God’s grace.
When you live in God’s grace, all your virtuous acts are especially pleasant fruits for the Father. They are
deeds Jesus Christ does through you. They are Christ’s deeds that glorify the Father and become a heaven for you.
It is worth living always in God’s grace! «Whoever does not remain in me [because of sin] is thrown away as they
do with branches as they wither; (…) and thrown into the fire and burned» (Jn 15:6). This is a clear allusion to hell.
Are you like a branch full of life?
Let the Virgin Mary help us to increase the grace so that we can bear much fruit to glorify the Father.

THIS SUNDAY, May 3rd, as part of our Patronal Feast St. Joseph the
Worker, we are celebrating the tenure of Deacon Neville Charles at the Appreciation Dinner starting at 2:00 p.m. in the Hospitality Lounge. The cost
of the tickets for the event are at $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for children
12 and under.
The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the St. Michael Chapel
continues next Tuesday, May 5th from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
FIRST COMMUNION. Our children will receive Jesus for the fist time
next Sunday, May 10th during the 11:00 a.m. mass. Everyone is invited to
come and rejoice with them.
Bishop’s Appeal. Many thanks to those who have already contributed
to the Bishop’s Appeal 2015, but we are still trying to reach our goal. Please
continue to pray for and support our Catholic schools, the Bethlehem Houses
on St. Thomas and St. Croix, our soup kitchens on all three islands and the
evangelization efforts which promote the mission of the local Church. Brochures are available in the back of the church. For your convenience, you may
choose to make a pledge now and spread your donation over several months.

F’sted. Come and join her in singing God’s praises for a fruitful missionary
journey and the lessons and experiences that have enriched her.

St. Joseph The Worker - Feast Day May 1st.
On May 1st 1955, Pope Pius XII instituted the Feast
of St Joseph the Worker – a day dedicated to the
dignity of labor and honoring workers throughout the
countries of the world. This liturgical feast serves as
an incentive to all those involved in the enterprise
of labor to devote themselves to the realization of a
social order in keeping with the Gospel.
PRAYER:
O God, Creator of all things, who laid down for the
human race the law of work, graciously grant
that by the example of Saint Joseph and under
his patronage we may complete the works
You set us to do and attain the rewards You promise.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,

“JUNTOS CONSTRUYENDO EL REINO DE DIOS”
La gloria de mi Padre está en que deis mucho fruto
Hoy, el Evangelio presenta la alegoría de la vid y los sarmientos. Cristo es la verdadera vid, nosotros somos
los sarmientos y el Padre es el viñador.
El Padre quiere que demos mucho fruto. Es lógico. Un viñador planta la viña y la cultiva para que produzca
fruto abundante. Si nosotros montamos una empresa, querremos que rinda. Jesús insiste: «Yo os he elegido a vosotros,
y os he destinado para que vayáis y deis fruto» (Jn 15,16).
Eres un elegido. Dios se ha fijado en ti. Por el bautismo te ha injertado en la viña que es Cristo. Tienes la vida
de Cristo, la vida cristiana. Posees el elemento principal para dar fruto: la unión con Cristo, porque «el sarmiento no
puede dar fruto por sí mismo, si no permanece en la vid» (Jn 15,4). Jesús lo dice taxativamente: «Separados de mí no
podéis hacer nada» (Jn 15,5). «Su fuerza no es sino suavidad; nada hay tan blando como esto, y nada como esto tan
firme» (San Francisco de Sales). ¿Cuántas cosas has querido hacer sin Cristo? El fruto que el Padre espera de nosotros
es el de las buenas obras, el de la práctica de las virtudes. ¿Cuál es la unión con Cristo que nos hace capaces de dar
este fruto? La fe y la caridad, es decir, permanecer en gracia de Dios.
Cuando vives en gracia, todos los actos de virtud son frutos agradables al Padre. Son obras que Jesucristo hace
a través tuyo. Son obras de Cristo que dan gloria al Padre y se convierten en cielo para ti. ¡Vale la pena vivir siempre
en gracia de Dios! «Si alguno no permanece en mí [por el pecado], es arrojado fuera, como el sarmiento, y se seca;
luego (...) los echan al fuego y arden» (Jn 15,6). Es una clara alusión al infierno. ¿Eres como un sarmiento lleno de
vida?
Que la Virgen María nos ayude a aumentar la gracia para que produzcamos frutos en abundancia que den
gloria al Padre.

ADORATION. La adoración del Santísimo en la capilla de San
Miguel continúa el próximo martes 5 de mayo de 7:00 a.m. a 6:00 p.m.

LAS CAMPANAS DEL JUBILEO DE ORO sonarán por los 50
años de Profesión Religiosa de la hermana Lovina (Lovey) Reyes,
ICM. La Eucaristía se celebrará el sábado, 16 de mayo 2015 a las
11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia de San Patricio, Frederiksted. Ven y únete a
ella para cantar alabanzas de Dios por una jornada misionera fructífera
y las lecciones y experiencias que la han enriquecido.

Fiesta instituida por Pío XII el 1 de mayo de 1955,
para que -como dijo el mismo Pío XII a los obreros

Oh bendito Patriarca san José!, insigne protector de
todo aquel que lo solicita, modelo de hombre justo y
paciente, ejemplo de virtud y santidad; varón dotado
de un alma tan pura y un enorme corazón bondadoso
que con fe aceptaste los designios de Dios, y por
amor fuiste el más fiel esposo de la madre del Señor.

ORACION POR LOS SACERDOTES
Jesús, Sacerdote eterno, guarda a estos siervos en el recinto de tu Corazón, donde nadie pueda hacerles daño alguno; guarda inmaculadas sus manos consagradas que a
diario tocan tu Sagrado Cuerpo; guarda sin mancha esos
