"Urban meetings", academic talks on society
"Encuentros Urbanos"
The university's Management of sustainable development major and the State, Social and
territorial movement Research Group will take part in the event titled "Urban meetings"
(Encuentros Urbanos), which will have academic discussions prior to the United Nation's
Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) to be held in Quito from
the 17 to the 20 October, 2016.
This event has been organized by the "Academic Network for City Studies", Habitat III
coordinators and the United Nation's Development Program (PNUD). The network is made up by
ten universities: UPS, la FLACSO, la Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, la Universidad SEK, la
Universidad de las Américas (UDLA); la Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), la Pontificia
Universidad Católica de Ecuador (PUCE), la Universidad Central del Ecuador (UC).
The urban meetings will begin on May 11 and will end on September 14. According to the
calendar, UPS will hold the tenth event titled "Cities for people".
