Holy Mass as a Community
A few weekends ago, we took a survey in order to
assess our Sunday Mass experience.
From your comments and responses, we have found
that your top priorities are the following:
1. That the pastor greet the people after Mass
2. That another priest celebrate Mass when the
pastor cannot celebrate it
3. That the people of Resurrection Catholic
Community feel united when they attend Mass
4. That the pastor preach at the Mass even if he cannot
celebrate it
You also responded that it is important to have music at Mass
and that the pastor celebrate the Mass every Sunday. These
answers will assist us in advancing how we do liturgy during the
weekend, which is the most important thing that we do.
So, in order to fulfill the priorities listed above, we can begin
with our Mass schedule. The ideal for us would be to have one
Mass for the whole community. Convenience for people's
schedule is not the top priority. It is far more important that
the Mass be an expression and an instrument of the unity
of our whole community in Christ Jesus through the Holy
Eucharist. One Mass would also allow the pastor to celebrate
with his whole community.
The second priority is that it be celebrated in a way that the
people can understand and connect. For this reason, we
should have at least one Mass in English and one Mass in
Spanish.
Finally, there are the practical priorities. We cannot fit the
entire community into one Mass. Parking is already a challenge. For this reason, we have more than two celebrations.
We are keeping close track of the Mass attendance every Sunday, and I am prayerfully working with the Pastoral Council, the
Hispanic Ministry Committee, and the Pastoral Council at La
Divina Providencia to make decisions that meet the spiritual
priorities of our community.
In the mean time, we are making some positive adjustments
to our Mass schedule. These will reduce the stress of parking
and movement between the Masses. They will also allow more
time for fellowship, especially for the pastor with parishioners.
Saturday Mass times are unchanged.
The current Sunday Mass schedule is the following:
7:30am English
9:00am Spanish
9:00am Spanish at La Divina Providencia
11:00am English
12:30pm Spanish
2:00pm Spanish at La Divina Providencia
Beginning January 3, the updated schedule will be:
7:00am English
9:00am Spanish
11:00am English
1:00pm Spanish
3:00pm Spanish at La Divina Providencia
It is our hope that this new schedule will advance our community in its mission to grow in unity in Christ Our Lord. Let us
continue to pray fervently that we may always be guided by the
Holy Spirit.

No podemos

was healed of her disease. And Jesus, perceiving in Himself that power had gone forth from
Him, immediately turned about in the crowd,
and said, “Who touched My garments?” ...And
He looked around to see who had done it. But
the woman, knowing what had been done to her,
came in fear and trembling and fell down before
Him, and told Him the whole truth. And He said
to her, Daughter, your faith has made you well;
go in peace and be healed of your disease.
Mark 5:28-34
Come, lift up your heart and soul to Christ and
allow Him to pour out His mercy and grace for
healing. He longs to heal our souls so that we
can know His peace and love and grow closer
to Him, our families, and all those around us.

enfermedad.”
Marcos 5:28-34

From dodgeball to sharing our faith,
to nose diving into a bowl of ice cream,
the Middle School Youth Group is back!
Middle school students, grades 6-8, meet
every Thursday from 6:30pm-8pm in the gym for
tons of fun and to hear about the how much the
Father's love is "Better Than Life." We join in
laughter, raise our voices high in worship, and
share our lives in small groups.
This week we grew closer together as we laughed and joined
together in a night of Fellowship. Through sharing a meal
together and playing games, we are growing close as a
community so we can share in each other's story.
Our semester on "Better Than Life" looks at how God's love
is truly better than life. Based on Psalm 63 we are exploring
this theme through teaching and small group discussions,
as well by sharing in community the joy that He gives us.
We would like to invite all middle school students to join us
THURSDAYS 6:30pm - 8pm in the GYM
and come see what is "Better Than Life!"
