Thoughts from Our Pastor
Rev. John P. Broheimer
It is a certainty in every parish that a priest
is assigned, hopefully allows Christ to do
his good work for the salvation of souls
through him, and then he is reassigned for
the good of the greater Church. St. Peter has experienced
this a few times in the past 18 months. Fr. Carl is being reassigned very quickly to fill a need in another parish. I am confident that he will do very well for the people there as he has
done great good here at St. Peter for the last 13 months.
There is a sadness when a priest departs a parish because we
have gotten to know him, perhaps even experience a good
friendship with him, and, at the very least, have had an experience of Christ’s love for his people through that priest. Fr.
Carl’s humility, wisdom, and zeal has benefited us all here;
for this we give thanks to God and send our prayers with
him. Please say a prayer for him as he faces new challenges
for Christ and his people.
I am very happy to announce that Fr. James de Anda has
been assigned as part-time parochial vicar for St. Peter Parish. Fr. de Anda was assigned here years ago and has always
spoken very fondly of his time at St. Peter. Father will split
his time equally between Chancery duties and assisting me in
the parish. His part-time status means my work load will
increase, but not nearly as much as it would without any
help. Please pray for all of us priests in this time of transition.
St. Peter Schola Cantorum
It is now the time of year that the
St. Peter Schola Cantorum choirs
are beginning their season. Rehearsals begin this Tuesday
for Voces Angelorum Choir, Pius
X Choir, Pope Benedict XVI
Choir, and Adult Choir. As noted St. Cecilia, patroness of musicians
in previous bulletins, Mrs. Teresa
Paal, our Interim Director of Music, has extensive experience and education in choral conducting. We are very
blessed to have her here until a new Director is hired. Until
we have our new Director, we will be able to continue uninterrupted our beautiful work of praising God in sacred worship and our members receiving formation in the best traditions of the Church's sacred music. And - as always - we
could use more men in the Adult Choir. We know there are
good male voices in the parish; please consider volunteering.

XXII Sunday in Ordinary Time
A Message from Rev. Gregory P. Carl
Just last week the Archbishop asked if I would take on a
new assignment in the small town of Madison, NE where I
was once assigned as a deacon. With prayer and counsel I
said yes, with confidence in divine assistance in the new
duties as administrator and, God willing, pastor there at St.
Leonard. The change is abrupt, but God will provide. I
urgently request your prayers! Your priests rely heavily upon the merits and prayers of souls they never meet, helping
them give glory to God, and so I ask you to please be generous with me and with all your priests in praying that we
will do God's will. I am not able to sufficiently thank you
the people of St. Peter's for the great year that I have had
here. Pleased be assured that your generosity and kindness
and faith come with me and help me to serve my new parish. Godspeed to you and God bless you.
Farewell for Father Gregory Carl
All are invited to a farewell open house in McMahon Hall
for Father Gregory Carl on Sunday, Sept. 4, after the 8:00
am and 9:30 am Masses. Please contact the parish office if
you want to help. Father Carl will be appointed as the pastor or St. Leonard Catholic Church in Madison, Nebraska,
in September. Please pray for Father Carl, and thank him
for his priestly service the past year at St. Peter Parish.
Canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, foundress of the
Missionaries of Charity, and Carrier of God's
Tender Love and Mercy, will be canonized
by Pope Francis on Sept. 4. St. Peter Church
will be blessed with the presence of a first
class relic of soon-to-be Saint Teresa on
Sunday, Sept. 4; and on her feast day, Sept.
5. The relic will be present before and during
the Holy Masses. After the Masses on Sunday, Sept. 4, we
will pray a special prayer for her intercession, receive a
blessing with the relic, and have an opportunity for individual veneration of the relic. On Monday, Sept. 5, a Holy
Mass in honor of Saint Teresa will be offered at 9:00
am. Many thanks to the guardian of the relic, the Gloria
Deo Catholic Books & Gifts store in Omaha. For more

Año Jubilar Extraordinario de la Misericordia
Pensamientos de Nuestro Párroco

Ciertamente en cada parroquia en que un sacerdote está
asignado, lleno de esperanza permite a Cristo cumplir su
buen trabajo para la salvación de las almas a través de él, y
luego está reasignado para el bien de la Iglesia universal. San
Pedro ha experimentado esto varias veces en los pasados
dieciocho meses. Padre Carl está siendo reasignado muy
rápido para llenar una necesidad en otra parroquia. Tengo la
confianza que él va hacer muy bien para el pueblo de ahí,
como él lo ha hecho grandemente aquí en San Pedro en los
últimos trece meses. Hay una tristeza cuando un sacerdote
se va de la parroquia porque nosotros lo hemos conocido,
tal vez hasta experimentado una buena amistad con él, y
como mínimo, ha tenido una experiencia del amor de Cristo
por su pueblo a través de ese sacerdote. La humildad, sabiduría, y fervor del Padre Gregory Carl nos ha beneficiado a
todos aquí; por esto le damos gracias a Dios, y nuestras oraciones irán con él. Por favor digan oraciones por él mientras enfrenta nuevos retos para Cristo y su pueblo.
Estoy muy alegre de anunciar que el Padre James de Anda
ha sido asignado como Vicario Parroquial a tiempo parcial
para la Parroquia de San Pedro. Padre de Anda fue asignado
aquí hace varios años y siempre hablado muy cariñosamente
de su tiempo aquí en San Pedro. El Padre va a dividir su
tiempo equitativamente entre sus deberes en la cancillería y
asistiéndome en la parroquia. Su estado de tiempo parcial
significa que mi trabajo aumentaría, pero no casi tanto como
lo haría sin ninguna ayuda. Por favor oren por todos los
sacerdotes en este tiempo de transición.
San Pedro Schola Cantorum
Ahora está el momento del año en que los coros de la Schola Cantorum de San Pedro están comenzando sus ensayos
por la tarde este martes, 30 de agosto, por los coros de niños Voces Angelorum y Papa Pío X, el coro de jóvenes Papa Benedicto XVI y el Coro de Adultos. La Señora Teresa
Paal, nuestro Interino Directora de la Música, tiene una amplia experiencia y formación en dirección coral. Estamos
muy bendecidos de tenerla aquí hasta que se contrató a un
nuevo director. Hasta que no tengamos nuestro nuevo director, que será capaz de continuar sin interrupción nuestra
bella obra de alabar a Dios en el culto sagrado y nuestros
miembros de recibir formación en las mejores tradiciones de
la música sagrada de la Iglesia. Y - como siempre - podríamos utilizar más hombres en el Coro de Adultos. Para mayores informes favor contacten la oficina parroquial.

La semana pasada el arzobispo me preguntó empezar una nueva misión en la
ciudad de Madison, NE donde estuve
asignado una vez como diácono. Con la
oración y consejo dijo que sí, con confianza en la ayuda divina en los nuevos
deberes como párroco allí en San Leonard. El cambio es brusco, pero Dios
proveerá. ¡Solicito con urgencia sus oraciones! Sus sacerdotes dependen en gran medida de los méritos y oraciones de
las almas que nunca se encuentran, ayudándoles a dar gloria
a Dios, y así me piden que por favor sean generosos conmigo y con todos sus sacerdotes en las oraciones que hacemos la voluntad de Dios. No soy capaz de dar gracias suficientemente al pueblo de San Pedro por el año bendecido
que he tenido aquí. Su generosidad, bondad y fe serán conmigo y me ayudaran a servir a mi nueva parroquia. Vayan
con Dios en todo y que Dios los bendiga.

Catechism classes begin with Open
Houses in the school this Wednesday,
Aug. 31, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm;
and this Saturday, Sept. 3, from 10:30
am to 12:00 noon.
Homeschool Sacramental Preparation and Catechism Classes
Registrations for our catechism classes
for children, and for homeschooled
children who are preparing to receive
a Sacrament during the coming school
year, are available in the Catechism
Office (room 103 of the school) on
Wednesdays from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm,
and on Saturdays from 10:30 am12:00 noon. Please register by Aug.
31, 2016. Please bring the child’s birth
and Baptism certificates. For more

If you received a Decision Point
book by Dynamic Catholic while at
the Matthew Kelly conference held in
Ralston in July, and would like to donate it to our catechism program, we
can use it for our Confirmation students. Books may be given to the parish office, the catechism office, or to
head catechist Kevin Engelkamp.
RCIA

Consider our RCIA classes. RCIA
stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It includes weekly
evening meeting for adults, ages 16
and above, who wish to receive any of
the Sacraments of Initiation. The classes in English occur on Tuesday
nights from 7:15 pm until 9:00 pm,
and in Spanish on Monday nights
from 7:15 pm until 8:30 pm. Classes in
English will begin tentatively on Sept.
13, and will continue through May
2017. To register for RCIA, please

Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays
“Could you not watch one
hour with Me?” Eucharistic
Exposition is offered on
Fridays from 8:30 am-6:00

great need of adorers to
spend an hour with Jesus, especially at
9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, and 2:00

Donuts
On Sunday, Aug. 28 after the 8:00
and 9:30 am Masses, all are invited for
donuts, coffee and fellowship in
McMahon Hall. This Sunday donuts
are hosted by the St. Peter St. Vincent
de Paul Society.
Baptism Class in English
A Baptism class for parents and sponsors will be offered on Sunday, Sept. 4
from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm. Preregistration is necessary - please contact the parish office to pre-register.
Saint Peter Youth Group
The youth group will offer a four-part
series in August entitled “Chasing
Happiness.” All youth are invited.
Meetings are held on Wednesdays at
7:00 pm in McMahon Hall, followed
by social time in the gym. Saturday,

Stephen Schreffler
As many of you know, I am a
long-time parishioner and altar
server. What you may not
know is I am also a member
of the Maverick Students for
Life. We are a new, pro-life
student organization on
UNO’s campus. Our goal is to spread the
pro-life message on campus as well as provide actual resources for women on campus who find themselves in an unexpected
pregnancy. We are a branch of the Students for Life of America, a nationwide
organization dedicated to ending abortion
in our time. We advocate and provide materials for adoption and parenting as well
as inform and educate students about the
reality of abortion through outreach and
conversation. We are in need of support.
We accept donations and prayers are
