All young people experience learning losses when
they do not engage in educational activities during the
summer. Passport to Success helps families explore free
and low-cost learning activities all summer long. Use
the Passport along with the Family Resource Guide and
support your child’s learning at libraries, museums, and
cultural events!

learning fun by visiting free and low-cost museums
and events listed in your Family Resource Guide.
At each Passport to Success location, be sure to
have your passport stamped.

In September, submit your stamped passport to
your child’s school or directly to Families In Schools.
Participating families will be eligible to win
prizes such as amusement park passes, computer
learning tools, children’s books, and educational

6 THE MUSIC CENTER’S DANCE DOWNTOWN
Dance Downtown is an evening of dancing under the
stars on The Music Center Plaza or in Grand Park on
most Friday nights in the summer months, from JuneSeptember. The series features an open air dance floor
with beginner dance lessons, in various styles, given
by top LA dance instructors alongside a live band or DJ.
No age limit or experience required. Fun for the whole

SEEDS OF HOPE, GRUB CLUB
Join Seeds of Hope and Steve List (Sylmar High School
Horticulture Dept.) this summer as we turn the garden
into a playground, kitchen, and classroom. Each day of this
5-session summer camp will feature exciting gardening
lessons, cooking classes, hands-on projects and crafts, fun
fitness, and delicious, healthy, food! This is a FREE camp
for children, youth, and parents. Light breakfast and lunch
provided. Space is limited.
