Jesus says, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:43–44). The struggle begins within our own hearts. A Cherokee story tells of a boy angry over some slight. His grandfather said, “I have known hate. It wears me down.” He continued, “It is like two wolves inside me. One is good, does no harm, and lives in harmony with others. He rarely takes offense. But the other wolf is full of anger. The smallest thing sets him to fighting anyone for no reason. He cannot think for his hate and anger. It is hard with these two wolves trying to dominate my spirit.” The boy looked intently at his grandfather. “Which one wins, Grandfather?” The old man smiled and said, “The one I feed.” Copyright © 2010, World Library Publications. Monday through Friday at 3:00pm for the safety of the Blessed Sacrament, our Chapel, parishioners and visitors with exception to Legal Holidays. On those special days, the Chapel will be locked after morning liturgy. This decision, although difficult, is in the best interest of our parish community due to shortage of staff to properly monitor our Chapel past 3pm and due to safety concerns from other parishes and recent past experiences. Thank you for your understanding! - $19,185.18 THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY! In today's society, and simply being a teenager, I think it's difficult to find current day examples of selfless people that Jesus is calling us to be. He is asking of us to put others before ourselves, especially those who we believe might not be deserving of it. It takes a lot for a person to swallow their pride and kill others with kindness when we are not getting the same treatment back. But like the Gospel says, "If you love those who love you, what recompense will you have?"... Jesus died on the cross for sinners, reached out to those who were excluded by society, and was the perfect image of selflessness. He got nothing in return for the pain and taunts he endured, and he continued to preach to the non-believers, because it was His calling and the instructions He had received from God. If we all strive to humble ourselves and live in the lifestyle of Jesus, giving without expecting a reward, we will be fulfilling our calling as well. Segunda lectura — Tú eres templo de Dios y eres santo (1 Corintios 3:16-23). Evangelio — No ofrezcas resistencia; ama a tus enemigos (Mateo 5:38-48). LA LUCHA INTERIOR “YO, EN CAMBIO, “No odies a tu hermano . . .
