From the Pastor’s Desk…
Rejoice, “It’s a Wonderful Life”
One of my favorite movies during the
Christmas Season is It’s a Wonderful Life. The
1946 Frank Capra classic stars Jimmy Stewart as
George Bailey from Bedford Falls. As the movie
begins we hear a conversation from heaven
between two angels. One of the angels, named
Clarence, receives his assignment to ‘earn his
angels’ wings. The angel Clarence has to come
down to earth to save George Bailey, who on
Christmas Eve is about to throw himself off a
bridge in desperation. Life around George is
unraveling and he wishes he were never born. As
the movie unfolds Clarence shows George how
truly valuable his life has been. He has touched
and helped and saved people during the course of
his life in ways that he did not know or imagine.
Clarence says to George: “Strange, isn’t it? Each
man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he
isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”
How true that it is. There are so many good
Christian themes in the movie. The value of faith,
love, marriage, family, friendship, charity, and
how each of us is blessed in so many ways are
brought forth. This weekend is Gaudete Sunday
and we are told to rejoice. Give thanks to God
today for the gift of life and family and love.
Thank God especially for the gift of Mercy in this
Year of Mercy. Spend a few hours during the
Christmas Season to watch this beautiful film,
especially with your family. It truly is a wonderful
life and I know your life has touched many others
by your love and mercy. God is so good. Rejoice
always!

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
Today’s gospel reports “there is one among you
whom you do not recognize.” It is hard to believe
Christ is present in a family with crazy schedules,
suppers that start too late and end too early, cars
that don’t start, misunderstandings, frustrations,
piles of laundry, unmatched socks and stretched
food budgets. The list is endless. The words
spoken at mass, “The Lord is with you,” are not a
hope, they are a fact.
STEWARDS SHARE IN THANKSGIVING
“Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make
your requests known to God.”
(Philippians 4:6)
St. Paul reminds us that our God is an abundant
God, the ultimate giver of gifts. He promises to
give his Stewards all that they need. When we
trust that God will take care of us, it is easier for
us to share what we have been given.

Del Escritorio del Pastor ...
Alégrate, "Es una vida maravillosa"
Una de mis películas favoritas durante la
temporada de Navidad es “It’s a Wonderful Life” Qué
bello es vivir. Las estrellas clásicas de 1946 Frank
Capra, Jimmy Stewart como George Bailey de
Bedford Falls. Al comenzar la película oímos una
conversación desde el cielo entre dos ángeles. Uno de
los ángeles, llamado Clarence, recibe su asignación a
'ganar sus alas de ángeles. El ángel Clarence tiene que
descender a la tierra para salvar a George Bailey, que
en la víspera de Navidad está a punto de arrojarse
desde un puente por desesperación. La vida alrededor
de George se está desmoronando y desea nunca haber
nacido. A medida que la película se desarrolla
Clarence muestra a George lo verdaderamente valioso
ha sido su vida. Ha tocado y ayudado y salvado
personas durante el transcurso de su vida en formas
que no conocía o imaginar. Clarence dice a George:
"Es extraño, ¿no? La vida de cada hombre toca tantas
otras vidas, y cuando no está de alrededor de él deja
un agujero horrible, ¿no es así? "¿Qué t cierto que es
así. Hay tantos buenos temas cristianos en la película.
El valor de la fe, el amor, el matrimonio, la familia, la
amistad, el amor, y cómo cada uno de nosotros somos
bendecido de muchas maneras que se presen
sucesivamente. Este fin de semana es Domingo
Gaudete y se nos dice que nos alegremos. Da gracias
a Dios hoy por el don de la vida y la familia y el
amor. Gracias a Dios especialmente por el don de la
Misericordia en este Año de la Misericordia. Pasar
unas horas durante la temporada de Navidad para ver
esta hermosa película, sobre todo con tu familia.
Realmente es una vida maravillosa y sé que su vida
ha tocado muchos otros por su amor y misericordia.
Dios es muy bueno. Estad siempre alegres!

UNA PERSPECTIVA DE FAMILIA
Hoy el evangelio reporta “Hay una persona entre
ustedes a quien tu no reconoces” es difícil creer que
Cristo está presente in una familia con horarios locos,
cenas que comienzan tarde, carros que no prenden,
malentendidos, frustraciones, montón de ropa para
lavar, calcetines son par y un presupuesto estirado
para la comida. La lista es sin fin. Las palabras
habladas en misa, “El Señor esta con Tigo” no son
una esperanza, son una realidad.

"No se inquieten por nada; más bien, en toda
ocasión, con oración y ruego, presenten sus
peticiones a Dios y denle gracias."
(Filipenses 4:6-7)
San Pablo nos recuerda que nuestro Dios es un Dios
de abundancia, el proveedor supremo de todos
nuestros regalos. El promete darnos todo lo que
necesitamos. Cuando confiamos en que Dios nos
cuidará, es más fácil para nosotros compartir lo que se
nos ha dado.
