Coming from Alcalá de Henares (Madrid)
DIEAWAY
is
an
AlternativeGrunge
StonerProgresive rock band with lyrics in
English, a band made of 4 members with a
long experience in the local madrilène scene..
The style of the band could by defined by a mix
of the multiple artists and bands that most
influenced them: from Soundgarden, Kyuss,
Pearl Jam, Tool or Porcupine Tree to seminal
bands like Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin.
Dieaway makes elaborated and complex songs
with a very intense live show that won´t let you
indifferent.
Although the Dieaway project started 20 years
ago, the band has just released in November
2012 it´s debut self-produced album called
“Leak of noise”, with 15 songs. In 2015 the
band is recording for a second album to be
released by end 2015 (auto recorded and
produced again).
Apart of their own songs, Dieaway performs
two sets as a tribute cover band of Pearl Jam
and Led Zeppelin. These two “tributes” are a
way for the band to be discovered by more
people… it is also grateful for them to play
songs from their favorites artists enjoying this
experience with the audience.

Biography
DIEAWAY are an alternative/stoner rock band from Madrid. They sing in English, like the bands that
most influenced them: from Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Tool or Porcupine Tree to seminal bands like Black
Sabbath or Led Zeppelin. All the band members have more than 15 years of experience in the local
music scene, from where they intend now to stand out.
Formed in 1992, Dieaway went through some changes in their first years, but the line-up has remained
the same from 1998 to 2013, in February 2014 Juan Carlos would be replaced by an band old friend
David “Monti” (also playing in Nocturnos). Monti is replaced in February 2015 by Mario (that also plays
in Aathma). Dieaway is recording new songs for an upcoming album by the end 2015 (drums and bass
recorded, pending guitars and vocals by may 2015)
Dieaway songs are usually based on a simple guitar riff which is then developed into a somewhat
complex composition, marked by a characteristic and easily recognizable sound. Dieaway is in the way
to consolidate their musical identity
Some of the venues the band has played are Gruta77, Sala Live, La boca del lobo, Silikona, Metropolis,
Honky tonk, Arena/Heineken (Madrid), Fanatic (Sevilla), Imagina (Cádiz), Festival del oeste (Cáceres),
Moon (Santiago), Mardigras (A Coruña), etc.
Dieaway have just released their first album “Leak of noise”, the and is now promoting the 15 songs
included on the internet, specialized press and live concers..

What a song!!!!!! I don't have words! Huuuh nice song! Wow i can't believe that i
found something like this here! You guys are the next best grunge band ever! Dat
slap from the bass is so goooood! Love it the harmony and the melodies used! So
far, the best song i've found here my friends... That funky part is absolutely
amazing! I love the drum, it sounds perfectly for this song. Nice fills there! Pure
metal that voice. Really nice guys i need to find more tracks and stuff from you!

Dieaway,
perfectamente podrían haber sido de Spokane, Tacoma o Birminghan pero no,
son de Alcalá de Henares, y portan toda esa enjundia que han fumado de tantas
bandas de Rock clásico de mediados de los años sesenta y setenta, con ese
punto de psicodelia muy afilado. “Leak of Noise” y su sonido nos ha puesto en
la pista de Dieaway, y a pesar de la dilatada experiencia de sus músicos y banda
que data de hace más de casi dos décadas, lo reflejan en este nuevo trabajo del
que tenemos cuatro magníficos temas en forma de adelanto.

Ego Live - 17/11/2012) … Pero aún asi, y tirando de años de experiencia y
tablas, continuaron para adelante con su concierto, y es más, tengo que deciros
que aún con los problemas, la banda se vino más arriba, haciendo de este
concierto, un espectáculo que seguro pocos pueden olvidar. Con guitarras que
recuerdan a grandes como Led Zeppelin o Black Sabbath, y con un sonido bajo
mi punto de vista y mi oído parecido a Soundgarden, pero sin dejar de remarcar
que Dieaway tiene su propio estilo rock. Estos quisieron despedirse de su público
con el tema por nombre como la banda, “Dieaway”, siendo este un auténtico final
apoteósico y con el público entregadose al máximo a ellos.

Festival Rock 90′s. … Y para terminar, Dieaway, viva reencarnación de otros
líderes totales del fenómeno grunge y del Seattle Sound, Pearl Jam. La banda
de Eddie Veddder y Stone Gossard llegó a lo más alto, se mantuvo, y
permaneciendo fieles a una filosofía que marcó el gran cambio musical y
cultural del rock en los 90, son hoy por hoy uno de los nombres que dentro del
panorama del rock actual, siguen marcando tendencia. Dieaway llevan en su
esencia el feeling y la garra de temazos como “Alive”, “Spin The Black Circle” o
“Even Flow” y si vas a ver su show en la sala Arena tendrás perfecta ocasión
de comprobarlo.
Interview to Deaway about the recording and
publishing of “Leak of noise” (07/07/2012): "We have worked on this for a long
time and now we see how difficult it was to give birth to our creature (...). There
was so much interaction between all of us... it was really exhausting. In today's
music industry it doesn't seem easy to find many bands where all members
contribute equally to to the music (except in cases like King Crimson or
Porcupine Tree, but there we're obviously talking about a different league!) (...).
And that contribution has been intensive... maybe we can't compare ourselves
to Mastodon or Dream Theater, but we can tell you we have worked hard on
all the arrangements and in fact they are more complex than they appear to
be. The key was to work it all out together.”

matters to the listener is if it makes them feel something or not, if it touches
them or not… and in order to achieve that, what an underground or alternative
artist needs is at least one of these two things: either you have talent or you
have a lot of work behind you. Or both, like Juan Carlos, Raúl, Oli y David, that
is to say DIEAWAY.

Henares showed amazing skill playing both their own repertoire and the music
of their favourite bands, like Led Zeppelin, Hendrix or Pearl Jam. This band,
unknown to me until now, is one that leaves you simply astonished and makes
you want to see them play again

15/08/2009 … Dieaway delivered a show where Led Zeppelin songs were
played very closely to the ones we all know. This tells a lot about the skills of
all for musicians. You could see these guys are not beginners. One week
earlier, they played a tribute to Pearl Jam on this same stage (...) Dieaway are a
great band worth following, be it for their tributes or for their own material or
for whatever they want to play, because they know what to do and how to do it
and they do it.

competition final)… Dieaway was the first band to go on stage. In my opinion,
this was a big handicap. Their performance was correct but they didn't shine as
brightly as in the previous four stages of the competition. The fact that there
was no sound check made things worse for a band who are amazingly good.
We suggest you don't miss the chance to see them live whenever you see their
name posted, simply because it'll be worth your while.

band pays tribute to each of these great bands in dedicated gigs with 2-hour sets.
