VOCATION CROSS PROGRAM
We pray for all who generously share in Church ministry, in particular for
sisters, brothers, priests and deacons.
The Spirit is calling men and women and preparing boys and girls from
our day school and CCE program to serve in the Church. May our prayer
for vocations inspire all of us to listen attentively to the call of God’s
Spirit and respond with generous hearts.

THE ROSARY
“HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF GOD”
A prayerful reflection to the Blessed Virgin Mary:
The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of
Galilee
called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man
named Joseph,
of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was
Mary. And
coming to her, he said, “Hail, full of grace!! The
Lord is with
You.”
The Angel Gabriel was first to utter this prayer to Mary;
which eventually became the “Hail Mary”, the prayer of the
Rosary.
During October, the month of the Rosary, our St. Ambrose Catholic
Community will have the opportunity to pray this powerful prayer to
Mary, Mother of God. Please plan on joining us in prayer which will
begin 20 minutes before all Week-end Masses in October.

SPECIAL COLLECTION - World Mission Sunday
A SUNDAY TO BE MERCIFUL TO THE WHOLE WORLD
Your prayers and generous support offered to the Society for the
Propagation of the Faith on World Mission this weekend, October
22-23, directly benefit the Mission Church. Places like the Central
African republic and Sri Lanka, Fiju and Tanzania, where young
churches are growing, filled with zeal for the faith, are struggling
with lack of resources for outreach to communities in need.

Lunch at Jay’s Café in Needville and Tour of The George
Ranch
Parishioners 50 years and older.
Join us on Thursday, October 27, as the Golden Youth Club of St. Ambrose
will be taking a bus trip to visit The George Ranch. We will leave St.
Ambrose at 9:45 am. We will start with an early lunch at Jay’s Café in
Needville. This Café specializes in fresh homemade American Food. The
highlight is their homemade cakes and pies. Lunch will be dutch treat and
there will be an included 18% gratuity to cover serving our group.
Following lunch we will visit The George Ranch, a 20,000 acre working
ranch featuring historic homes, costumed interpreters and livestock. We will
have a docent to accompany us and move between the four historic
homesteads on a tram. We should be back in Houston about 6:00 pm. The
tour is limited to persons 50 years or older and bus seating. The total cost
for admissions will be $12 per person, plus your dutch treat lunch.

Pastoral Council Nominations
Once again, the year is almost over and St. Ambrose
parishioners are being asked to nominate persons you feel
would make a good candidate for your St. Ambrose Pastoral
Council.
Next Saturday and Sunday we will have pencils and cards in
the pews for you to write your nominee’s name and their
phone number.
The three-fold purpose of Council is: one) to assist our
pastor and parochial vicar on programs and services that
enhance parish life; two) to help facilitate the pastoral activity
and three) to act as liaison to the various ministries and
represent them at Council. Meetings are held on the second
Tuesday of each month at 7 PM
This year there are three (3) positions that need to be filled.
There are six (6) basic requirements needed to serve and,
as a reminder, here they are:
1) You must be 18 years of age or older
2) You must be a Catholic in good standing
3) You must be a registered member of St. Ambrose Parish
4) You cannot be currently serving on the St. Ambrose
Finance Council,
School Board or be a paid staff member of the Church or
school
5) You cannot have a spouse or immediate family member
currently serving on Council
6) You must speak, read and write fluent English.
If you are not sure who is currently serving on your Pastoral
Council, all current members names and pictures are on the

Oración y meditación ante el Santísimo Sacramento son dos
maneras de ofrecer a Dios. Usted puede pedir por sus
necesidades o las de sus seres queridos, reflexionar en su
palabra o solamente acompañarle. El realmente quiere verte.
La Exposición son todos los miércoles después de la misa de
8:00 a.m. hasta las 6:45 p.m. en la capilla. Seguido de la misa en
español a las 6:30 p.m.
Nominaciones para el Consejo Pastoral
El año está por terminar y es tiempo de nominar a las personas
que usted cree que serían un buen candidato para ser parte en el
Consejo Pastoral de San Ambrosio. Tenemos 3 posiciones que
deben llenarse.
Muy pocas veces tenemos oportunidades en español donde podamos
explorar temas controversiales como es la rama de la Bioética.

Estudios Pastorales y es actualmente el Director de Educación
Religiosa aquí San Ambrosio.

Appropriate Mass Attire:
Please know that there is appropriate dress for those attending
Mass and coming to the Lord’s table on Sundays or daily mass.
Ladies should have their shoulders and backs covered and no
plunging necklines or short shorts. Gentlemen should at least wear
nice shirts and slacks. If you are serving as a Liturgical Minister:
Usher, Hospitality, Eucharist, or an Altar Server, you are asked not
to wear flip-flops, tennis shoes, shorts and please no jeans or
sweatpants. In order to keep our church clean, beautiful and
inviting for all those who come for mass, it is necessary that we all
do our part!

HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
On back to back occurrence of Sunday and Holy Days, there is a precept
of Eucharist participation for each day. However, whenever January 1,
the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the Solemnity of
the Assumption, or November 1, the Solemnity of All Saints, falls on a
Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated
(NCCB, 1/17/92. Congregation for Bishops, 7/4/92). While the Holy
Day Of Obligation is automatically abrogated on these days, the liturgy
of the feast will still be celebrated. Saturday on Saturday, All Saints Day
is not a Holy Day of Obligation.
