I hereby accept my responsibility for participation in AASCA/ABSH Athletics by
following the rules in this STUDENT-ATHLETE’ code of conduct:


I will display good sportsmanship at every game and practice.

I will do my best at every game.

I will show my coaches courtesy by listening and learning from them.

I will treat my coaches, other student-athletes, officials and spectators with respect and I
will expect to be treated accordingly.

I will follow the specific sports practice rules and guidelines.


I will refrain from coaching or directing my child or other student - athletes during games and
practices.
I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss or
confront coaches at the athletic venue.
I will take time to speak to coaches at an agreed upon time and place.
I will remember that student athletes participate for development of skills, for personal and team’s
growth and enjoyment and that the game is for youth, not adults.
I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will
never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.
I will educate my child in the importance of treating the other players, coaches, officials and
spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.
I will promote the emotional and physical well being of the student athletes ahead of any personal
desire I may have for my child to win.
I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that could endanger the health and well being of
the student athletes.
I (and my guests) will be positive role models for my child and encourage sportsmanship by
showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all coaches, officials and
spectators at every game, practice, or sporting event.
I (and my guests) will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, student
athlete, parent or spectator such as booing or taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane
language or gestures.
I will not take any noisemakers to my child’s games.
I will educate my guest of this code of conduct and they need to abide by all of the rules.
I understand that any violation of this code of conduct will be cause for immediate dismissal
(initially) from the athletic venue. This could be followed by a suspension or a ban from future
athletic events.

CÓDIGO DE CONDUCTA ATLÉTICO PARA PADRES DE AASCA/ABSH
Me abstendré de entrenar o dirigir a mi hijo(a) u otro estudiante-atleta durante juegos y prácticas.
Respetaré a los directivos, árbitros/delegados y su autoridad durante los juegos y nunca cuestionaré,
ni solicitaré o confrontaré a los entrenadores en el lugar del evento.
Me tomaré el tiempo para hablar con los entrenadores en un tiempo y lugar acordado.
Recordaré que los estudiantes-atletas participan para el desarrollo de habilidades, el crecimiento
personal y entretenimiento del equipo; que el juego es para los jóvenes, no para los adultos.
Enseñaré a mi hijo(a) que hacer siempre su mejor esfuerzo, es más importante que el ganar, de
modo que mi hijo(a) nunca se sienta derrotado(a) por el resultado de un juego o su desempeño en él.
Educaré a mi hijo(a) sobre la importancia de tratar a los otros jugadores, entrenadores, directivos,
árbitros y espectadores con respeto independientemente de la raza, credo, color, sexo, capacidad o
resultado.

entrenador, estudiante-atleta, padre y/o espectador tal como el abucheo o la burla, el rechazo a dar la
mano o la utilización de lenguaje o gestos soeces.
No llevaré ningún aparato ruidoso a los juegos de mis hijos.
Educaré a mis invitados sobre éste código de conducta y me comprometo a que cumplan con todas
las reglas.
Entiendo que cualquier violación de este código de conducta será la causa para la expulsión
inmediata (inicialmente) del lugar del evento. Esto podría ser seguido de una suspensión o una
prohibición de asistir a los acontecimientos deportivos.

Por este medio manifiesto que estoy de acuerdo en adherirme al siguiente código de
conducta el cual describe las expectativas mínimas requeridas de un entrenador de
AASCA/ABSH.

Me comprometo a seguir y apoyar la misión de AASCA/ABSH y de sus reglamentos
deportivos.

Me comprometo a poner el bienestar físico y emocional de mis estudiantes–atletas antes de
mi deseo personal de ganar.

Me comprometo a tratar a cada estudiante-atleta como una persona en formación y no
como un jugador profesional, recordando que puede haber grandes diferencias de madurez
física y emocional dentro del mismo grupo de edad.

Me comprometo a dar lo mejor de mí mismo/a para proveer a mis estudiantes–atletas de un
ambiente sano y seguro durante las prácticas y competencias.

Mazapan Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Policy
It is understood that participation in high school athletics is a privilege, not a right, and that
underage drinking, use of tobacco, and controlled substance is against the law.
Abuse negatively impacts athletic and academic performance, and research indicates that early
onset of alcohol use increases the occurrence of addiction in adulthood by four times. Alcohol,
tobacco, and drug use interfere in learning processes and brain development and increasing the
chance of physical injury while participating in athletic activities. Furthermore, research has
shown that one night of binge drinking by an athlete, invalidates FOURTEEN days of athletic
training. Binge drinking is defined by consumption of more then six drinks for a male and four for
a female.
Due to these risks and in addition of the laws of the country of Honduras, Mazapan requires
athletes and parents to adhere to this policy.
Student Athlete Commitment
I agree as a student-athlete that maintaining a sound and healthy body and mind is imperative to the success of
Mazapan athletics and my performance.
I agree not to use alcohol, tobacco or drugs during the 2009-2010. If I’m observed using these substances on or off
campus or I’m found under the effect of any of them, I will be expelled from all Mazapan sports activities for the
2009-2010 year.

Política de la Escuela Mazapan sobre Alcohol, Tabaco y Droga
Es entendido que la participación en deportes en la escuela es un privilegio, no un derecho, y que
el consumo de las bebidas alcohólicas por menores de edad, el uso del tabaco y las sustancias
controladas son ilegales.
El abuso afecta negativamente el funcionamiento atlético y el desarrollo académico. Las
investigaciones indican que el consumo temprano de alcohol aumenta cuatro veces la presencia de
adicción en la edad adulta. El alcohol, el tabaco, las drogas y el uso de sustancias controladas
interfieren en los procesos de aprendizaje y el desarrollo cerebral e incrementa la posibilidad de un
daño físico al participar en actividades deportivas. Además, de acuerdo a las investigaciones se ha
demostrado que una noche de embriaguez de un atleta, le invalida CATORCE días de
entrenamiento atlético. Para el sexo masculino, la embriaguez se define como el consumo de más
de seis bebidas alcohólicas y para el sexo femenino un consumo de más de cuatro.
Basados en estos riesgos y en las leyes de Honduras, la Escuela Mazapan requiere de atletas y
padres que cumplan con ésta política.

Como estudiante-atleta, estoy de acuerdo que el mantenimiento de cuerpo y mente sana es imperativo para el éxito del
deporte de la Escuela Mazapan y mi desempeño.
Estoy de acuerdo que no consumiré alcohol, tabaco, drogas o sustancias controladas durante el año escolar 2009-2010.
Si se me encuentra consumiendo estas sustancias dentro y fuera del campus ó estoy bajo los efectos de las mismas

Athletics is an integral part of the school’s total educational program. All school activities,
curricular and extra-curricular, in the classroom and on the playing field, must be aligned with the
school’s stated goals and objectives established for the intellectual, physical, social, and moral
development of its students. It is within this context that the following Code of Conduct is

WIN WITH CHARACTER, LOSE WITH DIGNITY
To ensure consistency and integrity within the athletic department, three previous
policies will be highlighted and in effect for ALL sports.
1. If an athlete misses more than TWO unexcused practices in any one season, for any reason,
he or she will be DISMISSED from the team.
2. If an athlete misses any practice, two weeks before the start of a tourney, he or she will sit
out the first match or game of the tourney.
3. If an athlete quits or is dismissed from a sport, he or she will be ineligible to play any sport
during the next season. At the beginning of each sport season a one week grace period will
be given for each sport for the athlete to decide whether or not to continue to participate. If
an athlete chooses not to participate during this one week period, he or she will not be
penalized.

Misión Atlética de la Escuela Mazapán
El Deporte es una parte integral del Programa Educativo de la escuela. Todas las
actividades curriculares y extracurriculares de la escuela, tanto en el aula como en el campo de
juego, deben ser alineadas correctamente con las metas y objetivos de la escuela, los cuales han
sido establecidos para el desarrollo intelectual, físico, social, y moral de sus estudiantes. Dentro de
éste contexto el siguiente Código de Conducta es presentado.
Código de Conducta del Estudiante-Atleta de la Escuela Mazapán
Como estudiante-atleta, entiendo que mi responsabilidad es:
1. Poner mis logros académicos como mi prioridad más alta.
2. Demostrar respeto a los compañeros(a) del equipo, opositores, directivos y
entrenadores.
3. Respetar la integridad y las decisiones de los directivos (árbitros/delegados) de los
juegos.
4. Demostrar juego limpio, deportividad, y conducta apropiada dentro y fuera del
campo de juego.
5. Estar consciente de que la seguridad es muy importante.
6. Abstenerse de usar blasfemias y vulgaridades.
7. Adherirse a las reglas y normas del juego que se esté jugando.
8. Respetar todo los implementos deportivos y usarlos con cuidado y de manera
apropiada.
9. TRIUNFAR CON CARÁCTER, PERDER CON DIGNIDAD
Para asegurar la consistencia y la integridad dentro del Departamento de Deportes,
las tres políticas siguientes serán destacadas y entran en efecto para TODOS los
deportes.
1. Si un atleta en cualquier temporada falta a más de DOS sin excusa, por cualquier razón, él o
ella será RETIRADO(A) del equipo.
2. Si un atleta falta a cualquier práctica, dos semanas antes del inicio de un torneo, él o ella no
jugará el primer tiempo del partido o no jugará el primer juego del torneo.
3. Si un atleta se marcha o es retirado(a) de un deporte, él o ella será inelegible para jugar en
cualquier deporte durante la siguiente temporada. Al inicio de cada temporada en cada deporte,
hay una semana como período de gracia, para que cada atleta decida si realmente quiere seguir
participando. Si un atleta decide no participar durante ésta primer semana (período de gracia),
él o ella no será sancionado(a).

Mazapan Athletic Trip Code of Conduct

Student Athletes, as representatives of Mazapan School and Honduras, shall abide by the expectations of
the Athletic Trip Code of Conduct as well as the regulations cited in the Parent-Student Handbook, Athletic
Code of Conducts and AASCA/ABSH Policy Manual apply. Any violation of an expectation or rule will
result in immediate consequences that could include an immediate trip back to La Ceiba, Honduras at the
family’s expense and further action.
1. As a guest of the host school and host country, I pledge to abide by all host school campus
regulations and to abide by all host country laws.
2. I will follow the instructions of my coaches and chaperones at all times. I understand that they are
responsible for my personal welfare and it is important for me to respect and honor their direction.
3. I understand that the possession and/or use of alcohol or unapproved substances will result in an
immediate trip back to La Ceiba, Honduras and further consequences as determined by the
situation. I understand that coaches and chaperones reserve the right to check luggage and search
hotel rooms at any time.
4. I understand that I am not permitted to leave the host school or hotel without a preapproved
permission of the school’s principal or the superintendent. I understand that all social activities
will be done as a team with the coaches and chaperones. I also understand that discotheques
are off limits.
5. I will be in my assigned hotel room by the 10:00 pm curfew during the weekdays and 11:00 pm on
Saturdays and I will remain there until morning. Lights out 30 minutes after curfew.
6. In route to and from __________ (Host City), I will behave in a manner that does not bring any
negative attention to my team or me. I will patiently wait my turn and be respectful to airline
personnel, immigration officials and people in the bus or plane.
7. During competitions, I understand that proper bench decorum and sportsmanship is expected at all
times. I understand that the tournament rules prohibit the use of noisemakers and attempts at
distraction.

Los Estudiantes-Atletas, como representantes de la Escuela Mazapán y Honduras, cumplirán con las
expectativas del Código de Conducta para Viajes de Deportes así como las regulaciones y políticas citadas
en el Manual del Estudiante, Códigos de Conducta de Departamento de Deportes y los Manuales
AASCA/ABSH. Una violación de cualquiera de las reglas, causaría como consecuencia inmediata el
regreso a La Ceiba, Honduras. La familia del atleta correrá con los gastos del viaje de regreso.
1) Como un invitado de la escuela anfitriona o país anfitrión, prometo cumplir con todas las
regulaciones y las leyes que estén establecidas dentro y fuera de los predios de la misma. Y todas
las leyes del país anfitrión.
2) Seguiré las instrucciones de mis entrenadores y chaperones en todo momento. Entiendo que ellos
son responsables de mi bienestar personal y es importante para mí, respetar y honrar su liderazgo.
3) Entiendo que la posesión y/o el consumo de alcohol o sustancias controladas, causaría como
resultado el regreso a La Ceiba, Honduras y podría tener mayores consecuencias dependiendo de la
situación. Entiendo que los entrenadores y chaperones tienen derecho de comprobar el equipaje y
registrar las habitaciones en cualquier momento.
4) Entiendo que no tengo permiso de salir de la escuela anfitriona o el hotel sin un permiso previo de
la dirección o superintendencia de la escuela. Entiendo que todas las actividades sociales serán
hechas en equipo con los entrenadores y chaperones. También entiendo que las discotecas
quedan completamente prohibidas.
5) Estaré dentro de mi habitación de hotel asignada a la hora del toque de queda a las 10:00 PM los
días de semana y a las 11:00 PM los sábados y permaneceré allí hasta la mañana del siguiente día.
Apagaré las luces 30 minutos después del toque de queda.
6) En la ruta desde __________ a (Ciudad Anfitriona), me comportaré de manera que no atraiga
ninguna atención negativa al equipo ni para mi persona. Esperaré pacientemente mi turno y seré
respetuoso(a) con el personal de la aerolínea, funcionarios de inmigración y personas dentro del
autobús o avión.
7) Durante las competencias, entiendo que se espera en todo momento el respeto de silla asignada y la
deportividad. Entiendo que las reglas del torneo prohíben el empleo de aparatos ruidosos e intentos
de distracción.
