In addition to English, and Spanish this Sacrament
may also be in Italian.

Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged
couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings

SANTISSIMA TRINITÀ  31 DI MAGGIO, 2015
“Then Jesus approached and said to them, ‘All power in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always until
the end of the ages.’” Once again we ascend a mountain, the place where God so
often revealed Himself. Jesus approached the eleven, and He approaches me as well. He gave them a
commission, and He speaks that same message to me as I read a too- familiar text. Because it is so well
known we might quickly read and move on. But wait a minute. The apostles were sent to make disciples,
missionary disciples in the words of Pope Francis. This is accomplished through the sacraments, with baptism
leading the way. A teaching accompanies the mission, to love God above all things and neighbor as
ourselves, not just to follow what I think is acceptable and not uncomfortable. The final element of the
commissioning experience is the assurance of the ongoing and abiding presence of the Lord to direct and
sustain us. When the Spirit of Pentecost transformed them, the mission began, and continues through me
today. All of us are called and sent as missionary disciples.
“Acercándose, Jesús les dijo: ‘Yo he recibido todo poder en el cielo y en la tierra.
Vayan, y hagan que todos los pueblos sean mis discípulos, bautizándolos en el nombre
del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, y enseñándoles a cumplir todo lo que yo les
he mandado. Y yo estaré siempre con ustedes hasta el fin del mundo.’” Una vez más
ascendemos una montaña, el lugar en donde Dios tantas veces se reveló a Sí Mismo.
Jesús se aproximó a los once, y ahora a mí también. Les dio una encomienda, y me da el
mismo mensaje a mí cuando leo el texto tan familiar. Ya que es tan bien conocido, puede que le demos un
vistazo y sigamos. Pero detengámonos un momento. Se envió a los apóstoles a hacer discípulos, discípulos
misioneros en las palabras del Papa Francisco. Esto se logra a través de los sacramentos, empezando por el
bautizo. Una enseñanza acompaña la misión, amar a Dios sobre todas las cosas y a nuestro prójimo como a
nosotros mismos, no sólo hacer lo que yo creo aceptable y no incómodo. El elemento final de la experiencia
de comisión es asegurarse de la continua y perdurable presencia de nuestro Señor para dirigirnos y
sostenernos. Cuando el Espíritu de Pentecostés los transformó, la misión comenzó y continúa hoy a través
de mí. Todos nosotros somos llamados y enviados como discípulos misioneros.

fino alla morte aprendo così per ogni uomo la via verso la pienezza della
vita. Di qui le caratteristiche della missione: - la forza che l’anima è lo Spirito Santo che da Gesù
risorto viene promesso e trasmesso ai discepoli, come principio della vita nuova, che deve essere
annunciata e comunicata a ogni uomo; - il contenuto della missione è la sequela di Cristo,
l’obbedienza al Vangelo, l’osservanza dei comandi di Gesù, l’adesione battesimale alla vita del Padre,
del Figlio e dello Spirito Santo, il distacco dalla vita incredula, implorando e accogliendo la
remissione dei peccati; - la speranza che sostiene i missionari nelle fatiche e nelle difficoltà è la
certezza che Gesù è sempre con loro sino alla fine del mondo (da Partenza da Emmaus, in “Rivista
Diocesana Milanese”, sett. 1983, 814-815).

Most Holy Trinity is planning a
reunion on July 18, 2015 for anyone
who has attended MHT School
through out the years. The evening will begin
with the 5pm Mass celebrated in honor of the

reception, a tour of the school, dinner and drinks.

becoming one, the pastors of both parishes will
visit each others churches. Monsignor White will
celebrate Mass with the Holy Trinity congregation on
Sunday, May 31st at 10:00 AM. Members of our
parish who wish to do so are invited to attend
Mass there on that Sunday in a gesture to meet the
Holy Trinity parishioners. Father Robert Henry, the
pastor of Holy Trinity, will celebrate Mass here at
Saint Vito's on Sunday, June 14th at 11:00am .
This again is a gesture to come together as one
faith community. Let us continue to pray for
the Spirit to guide us as we fortify the Catholic
presence in the Mamaroneck community.
