LOVE ONE ANOTHER
Last Sunday we heard the familiar passage from John‘s Gospel in which Jesus uses the metaphor of the vine and
the branches. In that passage we were told that if we remained in Christ we would bear much fruit. Today‘s Gospel
tells us just what that fruit is: love. Today‘s second reading and Gospel together create a great hymn to love. The
chorus of this hymn is simple—God loves us so much that Jesus was sent into the world so that we would have life.
The Lord Jesus, who last week told us to remain in him, this week tells us to remain in his love. In a world marked
by division and terrorism, the Lord‘s final words in today‘s Gospel are a great challenge: ―This I command you:
love one another.‖

ÁMENSE UNOS A OTROS
El domingo pasado escuchamos el familiar pasaje del Evangelio de san Juan en el que Jesús usa el símbolo de la
viña y las ramas. En ese pasaje escuchamos que si permanecemos en Cristo daremos mucho fruto. El Evangelio de
hoy nos dice cuál es ese fruto: el amor. La segunda lectura de hoy junto con el Evangelio crean un gran himno de
amor. El coro de este himno es sencillo –Dios nos ama tanto que envió a Jesús al mundo para que tuviéramos vida.
El Señor Jesús que nos dijo la semana pasada que permaneciéramos en él, esta semana nos dice que permanezcamos
en su amor. En un mundo marcado por las divisiones y el terrorismo, las últimas palabras del Evangelio de hoy son
un gran reto: ―Esto es lo que les mando: que se amen los unos a los otros‖.

HÃY YÊU THƢƠNG NHAU
Chúa Nhật tuần trước chúng ta đã nghe đoạn Tin Mừng quen thuộc từ Phúc Âm Thánh Gioan, trong
đó Chúa Giêsu đã xử dụng câu chuyện dụ ngôn về cây nho và cành nho. Trong lời tin mừng đó, Chúa
Giêsu đã nói rằng nếu chúng ta ở lại trong Đức Kitô chúng ta sẽ sinh nhiều hoa trái. Tin Mừng hôm nay
nói rõ cho chúng ta hoa trái đó là những gì : là tình yêu. Bài đọc hai và bài Tin Mừng hôm nay đã cùng
nhau tạo nên bài ca vĩ đại tán tụng tình yêu. Bài hợp xướng thật đơn giản – Thiên Chúa yêu thương thế
gian đến nỗi đã sai Chúa Giêsu đến thế gian để cho chúng ta có sự sống. Tuần trước, Chúa Giêsu bảo
chúng ta hãy ở lại trong Người, tuần này lại bảo chúng ta hãy ở lại trong tình yêu của Người. Trong một
thế giới đầy dấu tích của chia rẽ và khủng bố, Lời sau cùng của Chúa Giêsu trong Tin Mừng hôm nay là
một thách đố lớn: “Đây là điều Thầy truyền cho các con : hãy thương yêu nhau”

A. Eynieu đã công bố bản thống kê: trong số 432 nhà bác học
thuộc thế kỷ 19: 34 vị không biết lập trường tôn giáo, còn 398
vị phân chia như sau: 15 vị dửng dưng, 16 vị vô thần, 367 vị
tin; như vậy là 92% các nhà bác học tin có Thiên Chúa.
Bác sĩ Dennert, người Đức cũng tuyên bố kết qủa tìm tòi của
ông để biết quan niệm tôn giáo của 300 nhà bác học, tìm hiểu
trong những số lỗi lạc nhất thuộc 4 thế kỷ qua. "38 vị tôi không
rõ các ông quan niệm thế nào, còn 262 vị, thì 20 vị dửng dưng,
242 ông tin. Tức cũng 92% tin có Thiên Chúa."
Nhà bác học ngƣời Mỹ, có ý mỉa mai và đánh giá những chủ
trương vô thần như sau:
- Trong con người có một số nước đủ giặt một cái khăn bàn.
- Có chứa chất săt, đủ làm 7 cái đinh đóng móng ngựa.
- Có một số chất vôi đủ quét một bức tường nhỏ.
- Đốt ra than, có thể làm được 65 cây viêt chì.
- Chất phôt phát đủ làm được môt hộp diêm.
- Và chất muối, hai hoặc ba muỗng nhỏ.
Bán những thứ đó được 95 xu, đó là giá trị của một người vô
thần.

Sometimes we may feel that we are not
even capable of loving as Jesus loved. In
today‘s first reading we see that God is so
eager to enter our hearts and enable us to
love that the Holy Spirit falls upon those
listening, even though they have not yet
been baptized. Ask God to help you love
as Jesus loves.
Algunas veces puede parecernos que no
somos aptos para amar como Jesús amó.
En la primera lectura de hoy vemos que
Dios desea tan ardientemente entrar en
nuestro corazón y hacernos aptos para
amar. El Espíritu Santo descendió sobre
aquellos que escuchaban aunque todavía
no habían sido bautizados. Pídele a Dios
que te ayude a amar como Jesús amó.
Đôi khi chúng ta cảm thấy rằng chúng ta
không đủ khả năng ngay cả việc yêu như
Chúa Giêsu yêu. Trong bài đọc 1 hôm nay
chúng ta thấy rằng Thiên Chúa nóng lòng
muốn ngự vào tâm hồn chúng ta và làm
cho chúng ta biết yêu thương đến nỗi đã
cho Thần Khí ngự xuống trên những ai
lắng nghe lời Người, ngay cả khi họ chưa
lãnh nhận Phép Rửa Tội. Hãy xin Chúa
giúp cho bạn biết yêu như Chúa Giêsu
yêu.

Reflecting on God’s Word
Reflexionemos sobre la Palabra de Dios Cảm Nghiệm Lời Chúa
As a nation, we are a mobile people. Not
only do we travel around during vacations, for special events, and for visiting
family and friends, but we readily move
from one place to another for college,
work, health reasons, and finally retirement. While previous generations usually
stayed with one job and in one house for
practically all of their lives, today it is
common to move from one place to another, to a different state or even to a different country. This mobility carries over
into our relationships. We can find that
our lives take us from one set of friends to
another, from one close relationship to
another.
So Jesus‘ admonition to remain in his
love can sound quite challenging to people whose lives are characterized by
change and impermanence. The word
―remain‖ is sometimes translated as
―abide.‖ The meaning of this invitation is
to ―take up permanent residence.‖ Last
week Jesus called us to ―remain‖ in his
word; this week, to ―remain in my
love‖ (John 15:9).
Jesus tells us how to do this (by keeping
his commandments), why we should do
this (so that his joy might be in us and our
joy complete), what specifically we
should do (love one another as I have
loved you, that is, by laying down my life
for you), and what is to be gained by doing this (an ongoing friendship with him
that bears fruit and gains whatever we ask
the Father in his name).
Not a bad exchange for settling down . . .
in his love.
Como nación somos un pueblo en movimiento. No es que sólo viajemos durante
las vacaciones y para visitar a familiares y
amistades, sino que estamos dispuestos a
mudarnos de un lugar a otro para ir a la
universidad, para trabajar, por razones de
salud y finalmente para nuestra jubilación.
Mientras que generaciones anteriores normalmente permanecían en un solo trabajo
y en una misma casa prácticamente por
toda su vida, hoy es común mudarse de un
lugar a otro, a un estado diferente y aun a
otro país. Esta movilidad afecta nuestras
relaciones llevándonos de un grupo de
amigos hacia otro, de una relación íntima
hacia otra.
Es por eso que la amonestación de Jesús
para que permanezcamos en su amor puede parecer como un gran reto para aquellas personas cuya vida se distingue por el
cambio y la transitoriedad. La palabra
―permanecer‖ a veces se traduce como
algo ―duradero‖. El significado de esta
invitación es ―quedarnos en una residencia duradera‖. La semana pasada Jesús
nos exhortó a ―permanecer‖ unidos en sus
palabras; esta semana nos dice
―permanezcan en mi amor‖ (Juan 15:9).
Jesús nos dice cómo hacer eso
(cumpliendo sus mandamientos), por qué
hacerlo (para participar en su alegría y
que nuestra alegría sea completa), qué es
lo que debemos hacer específicamente
(amarnos los unos a los otros como él nos
ha amado, esto es, que entregó su vida por
mí y por ti) y qué ganamos por hacer esto
(una amistad continua con él, la cual produce frutos y nos concede todo lo que
pidamos al Padre en su nombre).

Cũng như quốc gia, chúng ta là đoàn
người lữ hành. Không chỉ như du lịch đây
đó kỳ nghỉ hè, hay dịp đặc biệt và thăm
viếng gia đình hay bạn hữu, nhưng chúng
ta cũng sẵn sàng dời chỗ này đi nơi khác
vì học vấn, công việc làm, lý do sức khoẻ,
cuối cùng là hưu dưỡng. Trong khi các
thế hệ trước thường giữ một công việc và
ngụ trong một ngôi nhà hầu như suốt đời
họ, ngày nay rất thông thường khi dời từ
nhà này tới nhà nọ, đi tiểu bang khác hay
ngay cả quốc gia khác. Cuộc di động này
đem đến cho chúng ta những liên hệ.
Chúng ta thấy cuộc sống mình đem chúng
ta tới hết nhóm bạn này tới nhóm khác, từ
bạn thân này tới bạn thân khác.
Bởi thế lời khuên của Chúa Giêsu hãy ở
lại trong tình yêu của Người nghe ra có vẻ
thách đố với những cuộc sống hay thay
đổi và không cố định. Tiếng ―ở lại‖ đôi
khi cũng được hiểu là ―tuân giữ” (remain
– abide). Nghĩa là ―chọn cư trú cố định”.
Tuần trước Chúa Giêsu kêu gọi chúng ta
‗ở lại‟ trong Lời Người. Tuần này, hãy ‗ở
lại trong tình yêu củaThầy‟ Chúa Giêsu
dạy chúng ta làm sao để thực hành: (tuân
giữ điều Thầy truyền). Tại sao chúng ta
phải thực hành (để niềm vui của Chúa ở
trong chúng ta và niềm vui của chúng ta
trọn vẹn). Vậy điều gì chính xác chúng ta
phải làm (yêu thương nhau như Thầy đã
yêu thương các con, đó là, hiến mạng
sống Thầy cho các con). Để được gì
chúng ta thực hành điều đó (một tình bạn
liên tục với Thầy hầu sinh nhiều hoa trái
và bất cứ điều gì chúng ta xin Chúa Cha
nhờ danh Thầy) Thật là một trao đổi tuyệt
vời khi chúng ta „ở lại‟ trong tình yêu của
Thầy !
