are homebound and unable to attend Mass. They visit the sick and bring the Eucharist to
patients in hospitals and nursing homes within our parish boundaries. Please contact the
parish office if you, or a family member, are sick or shut-in and would like to receive
communion.

8 de diciembre, 2015 al 20 de noviembre, 2016
This Sunday celebrates Jesus as “the Good Shepherd.” When
announcing this Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope Francis focused on
Jesus’ “lost sheep” parable in Luke. “[Who] among you,” Jesus asks,
“having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the
ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds
it?” (Luke 15:4). A reasonable answer? “No responsible shepherd
who wants to keep the job!” Yet Jesus considers one lost person
supremely important and suggests blaming the shepherd. The sheep
didn’t “go astray,” the shepherd “lost” it. Thus, “when he does find it,
he sets it on his shoulders with great joy” (15:5). That tender image of
Jesus adorns the simple cross Pope Francis has always worn, the
Good Shepherd gently carrying the lost sheep home on his shoulders.
During this Jubilee Year of Mercy, may we, who once were lost
ourselves but now are found, join Jesus in seeking, finding, and gently
carrying home at least one precious lamb.

Este domingo se celebra a Jesús como “el Buen Pastor”. Cuando el Papa Francisco anunció este Año Jubilar de la
Misericordia, se meditó a Jesús en la parábola de Lucas de “la oveja perdida”, “¿Qué hombre de ustedes, si tiene
cien ovejas y una de ellas se pierde, no deja las noventa y nueve en el campo y va tras la que está perdida hasta que
la encuentra?” (Lucas 15:4). ¿Cuál sería una posible respuesta? “Un pastor responsable que quiera cuidar su buen
nombre”. Sin embargo, Jesús considera a una persona que esté perdida, sumamente importante y sugiere culpar al
pastor. La oveja no “se extravió”, el pastor la “perdió”. Así que “al encontrarla, la pone sobre sus hombros,
gozoso” (15:5). Esa es la imagen compasiva de la cruz pectoral que usa el Papa Francisco, el Buen Pastor llevando
sobre sus hombres a la oveja perdida a casa. Durante este Año Jubilar de la Misericordia, que nosotros, que
también nosotros estuvimos perdidos pero fuimos encontrados, unámonos a Jesús a buscan, encontrar y llevar con

Based on academic achievements, 5th grader Olivia Rayson, 6th grader Zachary Plebanski and 7th grader Zane
Rayson were recently named Pop Warner Regional and National All-American Scholars. The Pop Warner AllAmerican Scholar Program requires that the student be in 5th through 8th grade and have a 96% or higher overall
grade point average to apply for All-American Scholar status.
Olivia, Zac and Zane will be recognized at the Mid-America Regional Banquet in Schaumburg, Illinois on April 16,
2016. Additionally, all 3 are invited to attend the National Pop Warner Scholastics Banquet in Orlando, Florida in
May. Being recognized as a Pop Warner All-American Scholar means that academically, Olivia, Zac and Zane are
amongst the top 2% of all Pop Warner participants nationally. This is the third time for Zane, second time for Zac
and first time for Olivia to receive this accolade.
The Northlake Pop Warner program offers a spring football camp (ages 5-15) and tackle football and cheerleading
(ages 5-13) in the fall. Northlake Pop Warner services the communities of Hammond, Whiting, East Chicago and
neighboring communities in Illinois.

Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, for “The Song of My Heart Retreat: Love Cannot be
Silenced,” scheduled for 7 p.m., Friday, May 20, to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 22, at
Providence Spirituality and Conference Center. The retreat will incorporate music, The Men’s Club
meditation, movement and shared prayer. Cost to attend is $200, and the is sponsoring a

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, will host a
“Family Faith Retreat,” from 7 p.m., on Friday, June 10, to 11 a.m., on Sunday,
June 12, at the North Campus Lodge, located at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Renew
the family and share faith together during the retreat. The weekend will conclude

A 50 year reunion is being planned for the graduates of
St. Casimir’s Class of 1966, to be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
Mass at 4:00 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m. at Cavalier Inn, 735 Gostlin, Hammond.
There will be a brief tour of the school following Mass. Cost of the dinner is
