FROM THE PASTOR Dear Friends in Christ, We conclude our Christmas Season this weekend with the Feast of the Bap sm of the Lord. The manifesta on of God’s presence at the bap sm of Jesus is clearly presented in today’s gospel. The beauty of an infant bap sm when the parents, indeed the whole family are living out their Catholic faith in a manner that is a true witness most of the me, deserves the honor of celebra ng that bap sm during the Sunday Eucharist. Such is the case this weekend, when I will have the privilege of bap zing Jacob Eli Reyna, the son of Mario & Myriam Reyna, the brother of Sabrina & Joshua. The beauty of the ceremony itself might be compromised by my lack of facility for Spanish but the manifesta on of God’s presence will most certainly be there. I am very grateful for Deacon Manuel’s assistance and the invita on from the Reyna family to do this bap sm. It also does my heart good that this Feast falls on the second Sunday of the month where we highlight our youth at both the 8:15am and 10:30am liturgies. Next weekend is a holiday weekend on the civic calendar since Monday 1/17 is the celebra on of the birthday of slain civil rights leader Dr. Mar n Luther King Jr. You got a li le taste of what to expect for next weekend if you were at the 10:30am Mass last weekend for the Feast of the Epiphany. While we hear St. Ma hew’s version of the bap sm of the Lord this weekend, next weekend we’ll get a view of that event from St. John’s gospel. This is our fi h annual racial harmony mass and it is my pleasure to introduce an African American guest priest to preside and preach next weekend. Father Stephen Brown SVD is a nave of St. Louis Mo. and is a member of the Divine Word Missionaries. Currently Father Brown is the campus minister at St. Leo University. I am very grateful that he has agreed to come for our fi h annual racial harmony mass. I should at this me also thank Fr. John Luerman from Richmond, IN., the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, who will be pinch hi ng for Fr. Brown and fulfilling his obliga on to celebrate Mass for the Benedic ne Sisters next weekend. Peace in Christ, Fr. Tom J. Anastasia, Pastor Mass for Racial Harmony January 16, 2011 at the 10:30am Mass Please bring a covered dish to share. Food may be dropped off at Cronin Hall before Mass. Jueves San Hilario Heb 3:7-14; Mc 1:40-45 Viernes Heb 4:1-5, 11; Mc 2:1-12 Sábado Santa Maria Virgen Heb 4:12-16; Mc 2:13 17 Domingo Segundo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Is 49:3, 5-6; Sal 40 (39); 1 Cor 1:13; Jn 1: 29-34 Nuevos Feligreses . . .
