He also has a master’s degree in Business Law from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Prior to his current position, Mr. Martans was a Legal Adviser for the Department of Compliance and Development at the Superintendence of Banks (Panama) from 2005 to 2007; he also worked for the Financial Superintendence of Colombia (1997 – 2004)and has been Professor of Finance Law and Securities Market Law for master’s programs at the International Banking Institute, Catholic University Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and Latin University of Panama. Alfredo Monge, President, Grupo Monge (Costa Rica) Mr. Monge was born in Costa Rica in 1973. He is the current President of the board of one of the most important groups in Central America, Grupo Monge. Patricia is Part of Grupo Financiero Improsa, a Costa Rican group present in the Central American region from 2004. Eduardo Nogueira, Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer Panama, Julius Baer Investments (Panama) Mr. Nogueira has been the Head of Panama Business at Julius Baer Group Ltd., since November 06, 2013. Mr. Nogueira joined Julius Baer in February 2013. Prior to this he was a partner at an independent asset management firm in Miami and before 2011 he spent 26 years at Merrill Lynch, holding different managerial positions in several locations in Latin America. Silvana Mesquita, AML Compliance & Onboarding Head, BTG Pactual (Brazil) Silvana Mesquita is the global coordinator for Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions and Onboarding Controls at BTG Pactual. Her role includes supervision of the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America offices. She is also the coordinator of FEBRABAN´s AML sub-committee and coordinator of the FATCA task force in Brazil. She has over 20 years in control related functions at Banking Institutions. Paul Velasco, Director of Social Responsibility, Consorcio Nobis (Ecuador) Mr. Velasco has a long career as a consultant to foundations, family assets, and trusts, oriented to philanthropic programs. for 20 years has led the Fundacion Nobis belonging to the holding of the Consortium and the family business. He is a lawyer and has a doctorate in sociology from the University of Paris. He also holds a diploma in Social Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid and Corporate Social Responsibility by the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He was President of the Network of America, a network of business, corporate and family foundations, Latin America and the Caribbean that includes more than 70 organizations. Recently published book, "Business and Society: 53 facts about Social Responsibility." Jean-Pierre Wegener, Local Managing Director, Lombard Odier (Panama) Mr. Wegener heads the Representative and Advisory offices of Lombard Odier in Panama. With more than 200 years, Lombard Odier belongs to the oldest and largest Swiss Private Banks focusing exclusively on Wealth Management. Jean-Pierre has been advising prominent families in Mexico and Central America for the last 20 years: first as a management consultant with Bain & Company in both its Costa Rica and Mexico offices and then as a Private Banker based in Geneva and recently Panama. Before that, Jean-Pierre worked for Swiss Bank Corporation in Corporate Finance in New York and Geneva. Maria Awilda Quintana, Head of Wealth Management, Banco Popular de Puerto Rico (Puerto Rico) María Awilda Quintana holds a Bachelors Degree Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Marketing from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Masters in Finance from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. During her 23 year career, Mrs. Quintana has worked in various Divisions of Popular Inc., the main financial institution in Puerto Rico. Currently, she is the Senior Vice President and Manager of the Wealth Management Division. Her vast experience developing and designing comprehensive strategies lead to achieving her clients’ goals and managing sales teams with excellent results. Marcelo Suárez Castillo, CFA, Director, Wealth Management, Scotia Private Client Group (Panama) Marcelo is Head of Scotiabank’s wealth management center and serves as General Manager of the investment and trust subsidiary in Panama. He has 22 years of experience in the finance and investment profession. In his previous 12 years at Scotiabank, he was Treasurer, Managing Director of Brokerage, and Head of Private Banking in El Salvador. He is a board member of the Fundación Bursátil and Bolsa de Valores from El Salvador. Marcelo earned his Master in Finance and Economics from INCAE Business School in Costa Rica. He has also lectured on corporate finance, investments, and ethics. He is a CFA® charterholder and holds the PRMTM risk designation. Ivan Estrada, Manager of Back Office Private Banking, Banco Santander (Mexico) Mr. Estrada has been working at Banco Santander (Mexico) since August 2012 where he serves as Private Banking BO Manager. Prior to his current position he had been working at HSBC Group (Mexico and Latin-American) for five years where he held executives positions such as manager in Corporate Banking, Project Management and Risk. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Panamericana, and a Masters in Operation Management and Finance. He is certificated in credit analysis by Moody’s and HSBC Business School. He also is certificated by AMIB as Financial Advisor and MexDer. Rainer Hensel, General Manager, Credit Suisse Asesoria (Panama) Mr. Hensel joined Credit Suisse in 2007. He has been active on the Latin American Private Banking market since 1999. Initially with Dresdner Bank Latinoamérica (DBA), where he occupied various posts until he became a Country Manager at PB México and later UBS when it was acquired by DBA. At Credit Suisse he was one of the founding members of the Latin America team in Singapore, the same team that he led from April 2011 until March 2014, before being named General Manager of Credit Suisse Asesoría (Panamá) S.A. Sergi Lucas, Chief Executive Officer, Banca Privada d’Andorra (Panama) For the last four years he has been developing his career as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Banca Privada d’Andorra Panama and BPA Valores. During this time, he has been responsible for creating and establishing the Panamanian branch of Banca Privada d’Andorra and its brokerage firm. He is also the Managing Director of BPA International Trust, their trustee company. Sergi is from Andorra (Europe). He has a degree in Business Administration from the Escuela de Administración de Empresas (EAE - Barcelona) Gabriel Fabrega, Managing Director, Andbank (Panama) Mr. Fabrega is a Global Wealth Manager with 17 years of Experience. Prior to joining Andbank In 2013 Gabriel served as Executive Director and Principal Executive at UBS Wealth Management (Panama), where he led a very successful team of client advisors covering the Panamanian high net worth and ultra high net worth market. He began his career in 1996 at Citibank (Panama) as a Treasury Management Associate. He went on to be the General Manager of Citivalores and Treasurer of Citibank. He has also been a member of the Investment committees of Panama's two largest pension funds Profuturo and Progreso. Currently he is the Vice President of the board of the Panamanian Chamber of Capital Markets. Sergio Torassa, Chief Executive Officer, Pronobis (Ecuador) Sergio R. Torassa is the CEO of Pronobis, one of the leading developers of Ecuador and Chairman of Wyndham Guayaquil. His 25 years of experience in the Real Estate and the Financial sectors was gained by working in top positions for institutions such as BBVA (in London, Spain and Latin America), Banca Catalana, Banco de Europa and Caixa de Barcelona. He was a Director and Member of the Executive Committee who designed and launched MEFF, the Spanish derivatives market. On the academic side, he lectures International Finance at IDE Business School. Sergio is an Economist (top of class), a Chartered Certified Accountant and earned his MBA from IESE Business School. Nurmy Sanchez, Head of Private Bank, Capital Bank (Panama) Mrs. Sánchez is head of Private Bank at Capital Bank. She began her career as a Private Banker at Panamanian Local Banks such us Unibank and Banco Aliado more than 29 years ago whence she has extensive experience working with Portfolio and Asset Management. Mrs. Sanchez has a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Universidad Santa María la Antigua (Panama) Monica de Chapman, Senior Vice President of Private Banking, Global Bank (Panama) Mrs. Chapman holds a bachelor´s degree in Business Administration from the George Washington University and an MBA from INCAE Business School. Mrs. She has been in charge of Global Bank´s wealth management since 2005 with more than 20 years of experience in Wealth Management and Capital Markets. She was also director of the Panama Broker Dealers Association (1996-2000), the Panamanian Clearing House (1998-2003) getting to occupy the Vice-presidency of the Board of Directors. In addition, Mrs. Chapman was member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Development and Education of the Capital Markets and President of the Board of Director of the Association of Securities Issuers of Panama. Luis Quijano, Head of Financial Services, GFBepensa (Mexico) Mr. Quijano is Director of Financial Services at Bepensa Group and Director of Financiera Bepensa, a division of the Group since 2008. Mr. Quijano also founded The Yucatan Consulting Group, a consulting company. He was previously the Head of Personal Financial Services at HSBC Mexico, in charge of retail banking products nation-wide. Mr. Quijano was also the member of the Executive Committee and the Committees of Risks, Treasury, Assets and Liabilities and Director of Board of HSBC Seguros. He is an Industrial and Systems Engineer and has a Master Degree in Finance and a Master Degree in Philosophy. Carlos Araúz, Vice President of Private Bank, Tower Bank (Panama) Mr. Araúz is Executive Vice President at Towerbank International, Inc. in Panama. Before joining Towerbank in 2007, Carlos worked for two multinational banks, living in Mexico, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, and Panama over 11 years. Born and raised in Panama, he won an academic scholarship to attend Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee where he majored in economics and finance. He received a degree from Nova Southeastern University (St. Petersburg, Florida). He is a Fellow of the sixth class of the Central America Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Miquel Valls, Vice President of Private Bank, Multibank (Panama) Mr. Valls has a long career in the banking industry. Currently, he serves as Vice President of Private Banking at Grupo Multibank since October of 2013. Prior to joining Multibank, Mr. Valls held several positions such as Executive Director of Private Banking at Banca Mora Andorra (Grupo bbva), Deputy General Manager at BBVA Switzerland, General Manager BBVA Miami and President at Banco Credit Andorra (Panama) S.A. . Antonio Moya Roman, Director, Serpa Family Office (Guatemala) Mr. Moya has more than 10 years of experience in the real estate and NPL investment. Throughout his career, he has advised many hedge funds with a specific focus in non performing loan portfolios in Europe. Antonio also was Director for international clients in CBRE Madrid, advising transactions for real estate assets, hedge funds, family offices and developers in Europe and south america. Mr. Moya received his MBA from the IE Business School and his B.A. in economy from the University of Navarra. He has been professor at the European School of Business in Madrid, and he is currently profes-sor of Merger & Acquisition at the ISTMO University in Guatemala. Leonardo Wengrover, Founding Partner, W Advisors (Brazil) Leonardo founded W Advisors, a Multi Family Office serving 30 families in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina in 2005. Leonardo is responsible for advising his customers in the process of Private Wealth Management and Family Governance. He graduated as a civil engineer with emphasis in finance. Before that, Leonardo was in charge of establishing and developing Wealth Management Offices for three different international banks in Southern Brazil. Egbert Wetherborne, Vice President, Trust and Onshore Services, Overseas Management Company (Panama) Mr. Wetherborne is currently VP of Trust & Onshore Services at the OMC Group. He has 10 years of experience in the trust and onshore industry advising clients on the structuring and management of asset planning solutions. Egbert is a lawyer graduated from The University of Panama. He holds an LLM in International Law from The University of Edinburgh and a Certificate in International Tax Law from the University of Leiden. Valentin Ureña, Attorney, Mossack Fonseca (Panama) Mr. Ureña is an attorney at the Mossack Fonseca Group and has extensive experience in corporate law, trusts and foundations.
