Module 2: Measurement using
rulers and yard sticks.
CLASS DOJO
This year the second grade teachers will be using
Class Dojo as a method of parent communication
and monitoring student behavior. The App makes
it easy to keep in touch and to ask/answer parent
questions. Please join us! Teachers will send
home a personalized code number to be able to
connect to your child’s information, please feel
free to notify your child’s teacher if you have any
trouble connecting.

Welcome to the 20162017 school year! It’s going to be
a wonderful year of learning for
your child.
Throughout this school
year your child will become
better readers in both Spanish
and English. Writing will be more
interesting as your child learns
how to write expository and
narrative paragraphs.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Our science time will be
exciting with various experiments,
projects, and lessons about matter,
ecosystems, and processes that
shape the Earth.

about people around the world,
character counts, and various
holidays during social studies.

The at-home projects
are fabulous and will keep everyone

WRITING
Theme: The Government in Action
Spanish: Descriptive Paragraphs
Students will read and
compare readings on the
government to know what it
does and why it is important.
Students will write descriptive
paragraphs utilizing adjective and
adverbs to help create an image
in the mind.
English: Expository Paragraphs
Students will write expository
paragraphs that share information
about science concepts they learn
in class.

usando el sistema de Class Dojo como un
metodo de comunicación con los padres y una
manera de monitorear el comportamiento de los

El alumno será capaz de
identificar y escribir oraciones
completas. El estudiante será
capaz de identificar el
sustantivo, sujeto y predicado
de una oración y aprender a
utilizar adjetivos.
CIENCIAS
Conceptos: Estructuras y
propiedades de la materia
Los estudiantes aprenderán:
 Existen diferentes tipos de
materia y muchos de ellos
pueden ser sólidos o
líquidos, dependiendo de la
temperatura. La materia
puede ser descrita y
clasificada por sus
propiedades observables.
 El calentamiento o
enfriamiento de una
sustancia puede causar
cambios que se pueden
observar. A veces estos
cambios son reversibles, y
a veces no lo son.

Tema: El Gobierno en Acción
Español: Párrafos descriptivos
Los estudiantes leerán y compararán
lecturas sobre el gobierno para saber
lo que hace y por qué es importante.
Los estudiantes escribirán párrafos
descriptivos que utilizan adjetivos y
adverbios para ayudar a crear una
imagen en la mente.
