As you may or may not know, our parish feast date is officially August 21, the Memorial of St. Pius X in the church calendar. Since he is our patron saint, we can celebrate him on a Sunday and it is treated as a Solemnity. That is why our Masses last weekend were for St. Pius X. As part of that celebration, we had a wonderful picnic celebrating our parish (40 years!) and our patron saint (100 years since his death). We included in the celebration what used to be our ministry fair, and let each ministry give information about their ministry while providing a fun activity for the festivities. It really turned out great! We had a great time! There was a lot of food for everyone and many games and activities for young and old alike. People had the chance to celebrate the many diverse ministries we have here in the parish, and several folks commented on how good it was to learn about ministries that they never knew existed! As folks went around to each table and participated in the activities and learned about each ministry, they were able to have their raffle card signed off on, which they could then enter into the drawing for some really nice prizes. Additionally, the ministries even noted that they were able to sign up many more new members! God is so good! Thank you for your intercession, St. Pius X! Happy feast day to all! 8:30 a.m. Jennette Williams & Tim Hayes 11:00 a.m. Ann Johnson & Gwen-Dolyn Cutter 1:30 p.m. Julian Covarrubias & Socorro Esquivel 5:00 p.m. Lynne Sparks-Zantinga Readings for the Week of August 24, 2014 Sun Mon Tues Wed Thurs Fri Sat Sun Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time Is 22:19-23; Ps 138; Rom 11:33-36; Mt 16:13-20 Saint Louis; Saint Joseph Calasanz, Priest 2 Thes 1:1-5, 11-12; Ps 96; Mt 23:13-22 2 Thes 2:1-3a, 14-17; Ps 96; Mt 23:23-26 Saint Monica 2 Thes 3:6-10, 16-18; Ps 128; Mt 23:27-32 St. Augustine, Bishop & Doctor of the Church 1 Cor 1:1-9; Ps 145; Mt 24:42-51 The Passion of Saint John the Baptist 1 Cor 1:17-25; Ps 33; Mk 6:17-29 1 Cor 1:26-31; Ps 33; Mt 25:14-30 Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time Jer 20:7-9; Ps 63; Rom 12:1-2; Mt 16:21-27 WELCOME SEMINARIAN MARK WHITE Mark graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in May of 2012.
