Catholic Campaign for Human Development Collection (collection will be taken Sept. 17/18,
2016) Following are announcements in English and Spanish:

Week of Sept. 17/18
The collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) provides funding for
groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. CCHD’s grants
improve education, support economic development, and create affordable housing in lowincome neighborhoods. Help us continue to defend human dignity and build communities of
solidarity. Please give to the CCHD Collection.
Week of Sept. 24/25
Thank you for your contributions to the collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human
Development (CCHD)! Your generous gifts will help CCHD end poverty in the United States
through better education, improved housing, and economic development. Through CCHD and
its beneficiaries, we demonstrate Catholic social teaching and carry out Jesus’ mission to “bring
glad tidings to the poor . . . to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let
the oppressed go free” (Lk 4:18).

La colecta para la Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano (CCHD) proporciona fondos
para grupos que ocasionan cambios duraderos y ayudan y respaldan a los pobres en los
Estados Unidos. Los donativos de CCHD mejoran la educación, financian el desarrollo
económico y crean viviendas asequibles en vecindarios de bajos recursos. Ayúdenos a

DIOCESAN 50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: A special Mass with Bishop
Bradley for couples of the Diocese of Kalamazoo who are celebrating their 50th Wedding
Anniversaries in 2016 will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2016, 2:00 pm at St. Augustine
Cathedral in Kalamazoo. Couples celebrating their 50th Anniversary any time in 2016 are asked
to contact their parish office rectory so that their names can be submitted for a personal
invitation from Bishop Bradley to participate in this celebration. Invitations will be mailed
beginning August 29th.
Pilgrimage to Fr. Solanus Center for the Year of Mercy
SEATS are still available…Join us for a day pilgrimage to the Fr. Solanus Center on Thursday,
September 29, 2016. We will depart via charter bus from St. Augustine Cathedral Parking lot at
7:00 am, and return by 6:30 pm. Mass, meal and visit to the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral Holy
Door included. Everyone is invited to join us. Married, single, widowed friends are all invited to

GENERAL BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS
Come visit the Diocese of Kalamazoo at the Allegan and St. Joseph County Fairs!
In response to Pope Francis’ invitation during the Year of Mercy to go out and be where the
people are, the Diocese of Kalamazoo is going to have booths at four county fairs this summer!
Next up is the Allegan County Fair, September 9-17. Stop by the booth to chat with local
volunteers, diocesan staff and maybe even Bishop! We’ll have lots of information on the
Catholic faith, the diocese and our parishes available at the booth. Come take a selfie with Pope
Francis to be entered to win a Bible! Also recruitment is currently underway for volunteers to
cover booth shifts during the Allegan (Sept. 9-17) and St. Joseph (Sept. 18-24) County Fairs.

The Pastoral Response in Accompanying Families in Faith
- The Strong Catholic Families National Partnership Invites ministry leaders, teachers,
school leaders, parents and clergy to join together with others around the globe in a
webinar series focusing on the pastoral implementation of Pope Francis’ apostolic
exhortation on the family, Amoris Laetitia. Four Master Teachers will present video
reflections on the following themes, followed by two sets of live panels reacting to the
content and discussing practical applications to various ministries.

CSJ VOCATION DAY
Does loving God and neighbor without distinction stir your heart and energize you for living in

The Sisters of St. Joseph are hosting a Vocation Inquiry Day on Sunday, September, 25, 2016
from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, followed by Mass and dinner at St. Thomas More Catholic Student
Parish. This day is meant for women ages 18 – 35 who wish to learn more information about

Grieving with Great Hope
October 14-15, 2016
The Diocese of Kalamazoo in collaboration with Redmond Funeral Homes is
sponsoring Grieving with Great HOPE - a weekend grief support workshop that offers
a prayerful, practical and personal approach for anyone who is mourning the loss of a
loved one. If you have lost a spouse, a child, a grandchild, a parent, another family
member or a friend, you are encouraged to attend. Presenters will include Fr. Francis
Marotti, Fr. Don Klingler, as well as local witnesses, and John and Sandy
O’Shaughnessy from Good Mourning Ministry, a Catholic bereavement apostolate in

JFM preparation weekends for the engaged
The Joy-Filled Marriage is a comprehensive marriage preparation program rooted in virtues as
well as the Theology of the Body. The program incorporates rich Catholic theology with sound
psychology. If you are planning to marry in the Catholic Church, one of the components for
marriage preparation is experiencing a JFM weekend before the wedding day. Please register
early because spaces fill up fast. The remaining JFM weekend dates in 2016 are September
24-25, and November 12-13. Weekend dates in 2017 are: January 21-22, March 25-26, May

Monthly meetings are on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 4 to 5:30 PM

A report of sexual misconduct can be initiated at the Diocese of Kalamazoo’s Sexual
Misconduct Question and Reporting Line: (877) 802-0115. A caller will be requested to provide
his or her name and telephone number. All calls regarding sexual misconduct will be returned,
usually within one hour. This toll-free telephone number has been established as a part of the
Diocese’s effort to protect children, young people and other vulnerable people in our schools,
parishes and ministries. This line is for reporting suspected sexual misconduct or child abuse
within Diocesan institutions and ministries only. If you have some other concern about Diocesan
schools, parishes or ministries, please contact the appropriate Diocesan school, parish or office
directly.
Trauma Recovery Program en Español: Sexto Grupo
La Diócesis de Kalamazoo continúa con el Programa de Trauma Recovery en español. Si usted
conoce a alguna persona que en el pasado o en el presente sufrió cualquier tipo de trauma
(físico, sexual, negligencia, etc.), por favor remítalo para ayuda a las siguientes personas,

Trauma Recovery Program in Spanish
The Diocese of Kalamazoo continues with the Trauma Recovery Program in Spanish. If you
know someone who has suffered any type of trauma (physical, sexual, neglect, etc.) either in
the past or present, please refer them for help to Lissette Mira-Amaya (269) 929-7084 or Fanny
Tabares (269) 903-0209. Five different groups have benefited from this program. The program
has 10 sessions; one session per week. The new Support Group in Spanish will begin on
September 6, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. It is necessary to make an appointment as soon as
possible with the counselor Lissette Mira-Amaya (269) 929-7084.
