Loverde New Mass Times Announced (Beginning August 14-15, 2010) New Sunday Mass Schedule Dear Father Cilinski and All Saints Parish, Congratulations! You have achieved your goal for the 2010 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA). Your support and enthusiasm for this truly important appeal has brought new hope to hundreds of thousands of people across the Diocese of Arlington. I am particularly grateful for your leadership during this past year wherein we faced economic uncertainty. Your dedication to the BLA, along with your pastoral care, gives our diocesan family members the strength they need to endure any emotional, financial or spiritual crises they may encounter. This year, with the assistance of an extremely generous matching gift, we were able to reach not only our goal in record time, but also to surpass it, allowing some of the over goal monies to go to a Special Emergency Assistance Fund. This special fund will provide a direct line of assistance to parishes for families in need and may also be used for diocesan Catholic School tuition assistance, Catholic Charities response to emergencies and other urgent parish issues. In spite of these challenging times, the people of our diocese have shown remarkable faithfulness and generosity in supporting our parishes, diocesan ministries and services. Please express my deepest gratitude to your dedicated staff and all of your parishioners who were instrumental in enabling your parish reach its goal this year. Giving to others in imitation of God’s boundless generosity to us is a challenge, calling for a deeper trust in the Lord, and truly authenticates this year’s BLA theme, “Charity is Faith in Action.” As we continue to share our God-given gifts and talents, we pray that our Lord’s love will increase within us, so as to be present in the work of our hands and our hearts. Please know that you and your parish family will be in my prayers. I ask you to pray for me as well. With a grateful heart, I remain Faithfully in Christ, Most Revered Paul S. Mass of Dedication All Saints Catholic Church Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:30am Please plan to join Bishop Paul Loverde, Father Bob Cilinski and the members of our church and civic communities as we celebrate the dedication of our beautiful new church building. Check the All Saints website for updated photos of the church interior. The Living Church: God’s Building #62 In a Series - Lighting the Place of Worship (continued) In addition, lighting can aesthetically enhance the architectural and artistic components of the building and its appointments. Lighting for Sunday Mass differs from lighting required for a baptism or for times when the church is open for private prayer. What is appropriate for the chapel of reservation may not be effective in the nave, and what works in the sanctuary at the priest celebrant's chair may not be helpful for the reader or the priest at the altar. Lighting engineers can suggest appropriate options to ensure the light production that will best serve the liturgy. Additional practical considerations include cost and efficiency of various types of lamping, ease or difficulty of replacing burnt-out bulbs, possible computerization, and ease of use and flexibility of the system to meet the needs of a variety of liturgical situations. Planning the building's lighting includes both the exterior and the interior of the building. Illumination of pathways and entries is not only a matter of safety, but also of aesthetic enhancement. In keeping with good stewardship, using lighting generated by solar power is ecologically responsible, and it is an effective form of exterior lighting to be considered. They explain, “In our nation, ‘abortion and euthanasia have become preeminent threats to human dignity because they directly attack life itself, the most fundamental human good and the condition for all others’ (Living the Gospel of Life, no. 5). It is a mistake with grave moral consequences to treat the destruction of innocent human life merely as a matter of individual choice. A legal system that violates the basic right to life on the grounds of choice is fundamentally flawed” (n.22) Please pray to end abortions in Manassas. Peaceful demonstrations are conducted along the northbound side of Sudley Road on the sidewalk between Stonewall Road and Grant Avenue. To help coordinate coverage of these hours, a sign-up sheet can be found in the back of the church. Call Aaron Messier at (703) 754-9712 for further details. NEW CHURCH DEDICATION CHILDREN’S CHOIR INFORMATION June 27, 2010 Dear Families, As most of you know, the new church is scheduled for completion this summer, with a dedication Mass scheduled for Saturday, August 14th at 10:30am. Bishop Loverde will be the principal celebrant and homilist, with all of our diocesan priests invited to attend and concelebrate. A combined bilingual children’s choir from the 9:00am Sunday Young People’s Choir and the Spanish Children’s Choir will play a special part in this Mass. Some spaces are still available in the children’s choir, and I would like to extend an invitation to any interested young people in the parish from grades 4-8 to participate. The Dedication Mass is set for Saturday, August 14 from 10:30–1:00pm. The choir will be called for an 8:45am warm up in the Music Room. There will also be a reception following the Mass for all Parishioners to celebrate! The dedication rites for a church are elaborate and complex, and we will need to practice often prior to the Mass. Please see the attached form for children’s choir rehearsal times and dates. Your child will be required to attend three of the six rehearsals listed in addition to the mandatory dress rehearsal on Thursday, August 12th. If your child is interested in participating in our combined children’s choir, please fill out the attached form and return to the parish office by July 1st. Registrations will be excepted in the order that the are received until we reach a maximum number of 35 singers. If you have any questions, please email me: [email protected].
