Fr. Mike Rieder
Fr. Mike Rieder was ordained in 1994 and is still actively
serving as a priest of the Diocese of Rockville Centre,
New York. He has primarily served as a high school
chaplain, a role in which he organized and accompanied
several groups of students on Unbound (CFCA) service
trips to Latin America. Currently, he is the pastor of St.
Joseph’s in Ronkonkoma, in the middle of Long Island.

El Padre Mike Rieder fue ordenado en 1994 y es sacerdote activo en la diócesis de Rockville Centre, New York.

and Confirmations during August. Please bring birth
and baptism certificates and the health records.

Want to become Catholic? Consider RCIA
Adults who would like to consider becoming Catholic are invited to join the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
(RCIA) program. Designed for those who have participated in other churches or religions or who have not been part of
any formal faith group previously, this is an opportunity to learn more about Catholic beliefs and practices during a
period of inquiry.
Participants may perhaps decide to continue to prepare for receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion
and/or Confirmation during the Easter Vigil in April. The RCIA program is shared with Queen of Angles and Saint
Matthias parishes. Classes are held at Queen of Angels on Tuesdays evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm

The historic tour, marking the 100th
Anniversary of the apparitions of Our
Lady at Fatima, will feature the worldfamous International Pilgrim Virgin
Statue, traveling worldwide for nearly
70 years.

de las apariciones de nuestra Señora
en Fátima presenta la Estatua Internacional Peregrina de la Virgen, que ha
viajado por todo el mundo por casi 70
años.
St. Jude Chapel in the Women’s Center –
5116 N. Cicero Avenue in Chicago is hosting
the tour on Sunday August 28th at 7pm.
It will be an extraordinary occasion of healing, hope and grace. Please join us that day
to hear the story of Fatima and venerate this
beautiful statue that set out from Fatima in
1947 to bring the graces of Fatima to all who
might not ever be able to make a pilgrimage
to Fatima, Portugal. We bring the pilgrimage
to you!
Hundreds of favors and graces, including
cures, and countless conversions are associated with the image. The presence of this
special Statue (created by Jose Thedim in
1947 and based on Sr. Lucia's description of
her encounters with Our Lady) is a great gift
to our community.

Volunteer opportunities! Do you know
how to wash dishes...? Open cans…? Put food
on a plate…? Serve juice…? Sweep the floor?
No special skills are required to help feed the
homeless and working poor. We serve an average of 200
hundred people every Wednesday. Preparation begins at
3:30 p.m.; and we serve from 5:30– 6:30 p.m. and clean
up, which is usually finished by 8 p.m.—if we have
enough help!

Many people ask us if they can help in another way. In
your package of envelopes there is a blue envelope
marked “Soup Kitchen Support”, please use it and give as
much as you can. Change goes a long way to people who
have nothing, especially in these days of a hard economy.
