Monday thru Saturday Closed for lunch from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Lunes a Sábado Cerrado de 12:00 p.m. a 1:00 p.m. Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time August 2, 2015 GOD GIVES US THE STRENGH TO FOLLOW HIM DIOS NOS DA EL ALIMENTO Y LA FORTALEZA PARA SEGUIRLO When the Israelites escaped Egypt and sought a new life. God gave them quail in the evening and manna in the mornings so they could be strong for their journey across the desert. Similarly, Jesus gives us the gift of himself in the Eucharist so that we might have the strength and grace needed to persevere as we walk our pilgrim journey of faith on earth. Exodus 16:2-4, 12-15.God sends manna and quail in response to the Israelites complaint that they are starving in the desert. Ephesians 4:17. 20-24.The letter to the Ephesians reminds us of the importance of turning to the Holy Spirit to be strengthened and renewed so that we continue to grow in holiness. John 6:24-35. Jesus reveals that he is the bread of life. The manna nourished people physically and sustained life temporally. The new bread will nourish people spiritually and sustained life eternally. The bread in question is primarily the teaching giving by Jesus. Only at a secondary level does it refer to the Eucharist. Let’s us feed with this food from heaven.
