HOSPITALS FOR SINNERS
Jesus is the promised one who has
come to save, heal and raise up all in
need of salvation. The sinful woman in
today’s Gospel bends low to bathe the
feet of Jesus with her tears, wipe them
with her hair, kiss them and anoint
them. The woman who sits at Jesus’
feet is a true disciple. In this story,
Jesus contrasts the Pharisee’s lack of
love with the woman’s lavish love.
Today’s Gospel is a story about the Eucharist. This story
demands reconciliation and asks that those who come to the
eucharistic table repent and welcome others. As Donald
Trautman, Bishop of Erie, Pennsylvania, has often said, “Our
houses of worship are meant to be hospitals for sinners, not

HOSPITALES PARA PECADORES
Jesús es “El Anunciado” que ha venido a salvarnos, sanarnos y
levantarnos a todos los que necesitamos la salvación. La
pecadora del Evangelio de hoy se agacha para lavar los pies de
Jesús con sus lágrimas, enjugar sus pies con sus cabellos, besar
sus pies y ungirlos con ungüento. La mujer que se sienta a los
pies de Jesús es una verdadera discípula. En esta historia, Jesús
contrapone la falta de amor del fariseo y el amor de esta mujer.
El Evangelio de hoy es una historia sobre la Eucaristía. Esta
historia requiere reconciliación y que los que vienen a la mesa
eucarística se arrepientan y reciban al prójimo. Como decía con
frecuencia Donald Trautman, obispo de Erie, Pennsylvania,

education and support group, food pantry and the
many more ministries of the St. Benedict Catholic
