Mass and Confessions Schedule
San Pablo Catholic Church 550 122nd Street - Ocean, Marathon, FL 33050 Mile Marker 53.5 Telephone: (305) 289-0636 Fifth Sunday of Easter April 24, 2016 TRUE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Can you imagine a world such as the one put before us in today’s scripture readings? Communities of believers everywhere would support and encourage one another and be identified as Christians by the way they love each other. It would be a world with no tears, no death and mourning, no crying out in pain. “Behold, I make all things new,” we hear the Son of God say in the second reading from the book of Revelation (21:5). Is this world of John’s vision only imaginary? Are these faithful followers for whom Jesus prayed only a savior’s dream? Today they are put before us as a worthy goal. How much closer can we come to this vision of a true Christian community in our lives today? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. Much of the controversy around the Synod was about Catholics who are divorced and remarried civilly receiv‐ ing Holy Communion. But AL does not pronounce defini vely on the issue. Why not? The Synod discovered that arguments with winners and losers were not produc ve. What was produc ve was a deep, respec ul and compassionate examina on of family life, marriage, and the People of God as they strive to live out their voca on in troubled and complex mes. Chapter Eight, Accompanying, Discerning and Integra ng Weakness, offers a very profound look at how general rules do not apply straigh orwardly to every par cular situa on. And so there is need to take the complexity of each situa on into account. The Pope acknowledges that everyone should feel chal‐ lenged by Chapter Eight. It certainly calls pastors and those working in family apostolates to listen sensi vely to anyone who feels wounded, and to help them experience God’s uncondi onal love. ************************************************************************************************************** OPPORTUNITY FOR CORPORAL WORK OF MERCY Do you wish to help the poor and needy?
