My dear parishioners,
My heart has been heavy as of late. It happens when
I continue to see the evil that remains in the world. Whether it
is the execution of women by ISIS because they refuse to be
sex slaves, the senseless massacre of people in the nightclub
in Orlando, the continued street violence, the heightened racial tensions, it weighs heavy on the heart. Then there is the
craziness of the presidential election, slanderous articles in
newspapers, articles and commentators that perpetuate hate
and division. Closer to home, I hear of the evil others to do
one another, whether it is physical, verbal or sexual abuse.
Derogatory comments that tear at one’s soul and psyche also
bring pain into the world. Cynicism, gossip and uncharitable
talk bring a spirit of evil into the world.
The things people say to one another and about another, especially when they do not even really know the person sometimes amaze me. It is bad enough that it happens in
society, but it especially pains me when it happens in our
parishes. We are called to be Catholic Christians who follow
our Lord Jesus Christ and express His love in the world.
When fellow parishioners gossip about one another, it goes
against who we are called to be. “She steals money from the
church; he likes another woman; she is very bossy; he thinks
he is better than everyone else; she is very friendly with men;
he has gotten fat, etc.” It is bad enough when we make comments like that, but some seem to delight in them.
Actions like these come from our own woundedness
and instead of seeking the healing that comes from Jesus
alone, we lash out, we insult, we tear down. This past Saturday, I was told something that truly sickened me. There were
many reactions that I contemplated, but ultimately only one
made sense. I went to the Blessed Sacrament chapel of the
rectory and threw myself at the feet of Jesus. I poured out the
pain to the Lord Jesus and invited him in. The world needs
more Jesus!
With that in mind, I would like to invite you to a
healing service on the feast day of Saints Peter and Paul,
Wednesday, June 29 at 7 pm in our church. We already have
exposition all day on that day, so we would continue to pray
before our Eucharistic Lord and seek his mercy, calling on
the intercession of those great saints to bring healing to our
parish, our city, our country and our world and show that love
triumphs over hate. Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus
imperat! Christ conquers! Christ rules! Christ commands!

Mis Queridos feligreses,
Mi corazón ha pesado últimamente. Esto pasa
cuando continuamente veo el mal que permanece en este
mundo. Ya sea la ejecución de mujeres por ISIS porque
niegan ser esclavas sexuales, la insensata masacre de gente
en el club nocturno en Orlando, la continua violencia en las
calles, las intensas tensiones raciales, pesa mucho en el
corazón. Y luego está la locura de la elección presidencial,
artículos difamatorios en el periódico, artículos y comentaristas que perpetúan odio y división. Cerca en casa, escucho
el mal que se hacen uno al otro, ya sea abuso físico, verbal
o sexual. Comentarios despectivos que rompen el alma y
mente a uno también llevan dolor al mundo. Cinismo, el
chisme, charlas crueles llevan un espíritu de mal en el mundo.
Las cosas que la gente se dicen uno al otro, especialmente cuando ellos no se conocen a veces me sorprende. Basta que suceda en la sociedad, pero me duele especialmente cuando ocurre en nuestras parroquias. Nosotros
somos llamados Cristianos Católicos que siguen al Señor
Jesucristo y expresan Su amor en este mundo. Cuando
nuestros feligreses chismean sobre uno al otro, va en contra
de lo que somos llamados a ser. “Ella roba dinero de la iglesia; él le gusta otra mujer; ella es muy mandona; él se cree
mejor que los demás; ella es muy amistosa con los hombres; él está más gordo, etc.” Basta cuando hacemos comentarios como esos, pero unos parece que les encanta.
Acciones como estas vienen de sus propias heridas
y en vez de buscar sanación que viene de Jesús solamente,
atacamos verbalmente, insultamos, y destrozamos. Este
sábado pasado, me dijeron algo que me asqueo verdaderamente. Hubo muchas reacciones que yo contemplé, pero
últimamente solo una tenía sentido. Fui a la capilla del Santísimo Sacramento de la rectoría y me tiré a los pies de Jesús. Vacié todo el dolor al Señor Jesús y lo invité a entrar.
¡El mundo necesita más a Jesús!
Con esto en mente, les invito a un servicio de sanación en la festividad de los Santos Pedro y Pablo, el miércoles, 29 de junio a las 7pm en nuestra iglesia. En ese día
ya está expuesto todo el día. Así que podemos continuar a
orar ante nuestro Señor en la Eucaristía y buscar su misericordia, pidiendo por la intercesión de aquellos santos grandes que nos traiga sanación a nuestra parroquia, nuestra
ciudad, nuestro país, y nuestro mundo y demostrar que el
amor triunfa sobre el odio. Christus vincit! Christus regnat!
Christus imperat! ¡Cristo vencerá! ¡Cristo reinará! ¡Cristo
dominará!

Thanks Be to God
Today we welcome back Fr. Mark Bristol to
celebrate the 10 am Mass. Fr. Bristol was
ordained a priest just two weeks ago along with
Fr. Melchizedek. Immediately after Mass you are
invited to the parish room for light refreshments
and to receive Fr. Bristol’s first priestly blessing. Fr. Bristol
was with us since November as a transitional deacon. He
begins his priestly assignment on Monday, June 20 at St. Anastasia, Douglaston, Queens. Fr. Melchizedek begins his assignment at Good Shepherd, Marine Park, Brooklyn on the same
date. Please pray for them as they begin their assignments to
bring Jesus to the people.
Welcome Fr. James Varghese CMI
Fr. James Varghese is originally from India
and belongs to the community Carmelites of
Mary Immaculate. He is currently studying in
Rome and will be with us for the summer. He
will arrive Monday, June 27 and stay until the
middle of September. This is Fr. James’ first time to the United
States. His community serves in other parts of our diocese.
Please welcome him and make him feel at home.
Flower Baskets
Would you like to keep our altar beautiful
during the summer? How about donating a
flower basket for the week? Each basket is
$75 and can be donated in memory of a loved
one or given in thanksgiving. Donations
received by Monday of each week will have
the memorial mentioned in the bulletin.

guarantee your requested dates. Forms must be

Daily Mass
A reminder that starting Memorial Day, May 30, we will not have
the noon daily Mass (Monday – Friday) until after Labor Day.
This does not affect the 12 noon Mass on Sundays. We have many
open Mass intentions for the rest of the year, therefore the Mass
book for 2017 will not be opened until September.
Religious Education
There is no registration on Father's Day, June 19th
The Office will be closed during the month of July.
Bus Pilgrimage to the Holy Doors
As Pope Francis has declared this the year of Mercy,
Brooklyn has established Holy Doors at six churches
throughout the diocese. You have read in the Tablet and
Nuestra Voz that other parishes have visited one or some of
the Holy Doors. Now is your chance to visit all six in one
day. The comfortable coach bus will depart the parish on
Saturday July 23rd @ 6:30AM and return at approximately
9 PM. The bus ticket cost is $40 for adults and $20 for
youths 6 -16 and free for children 5 or younger accompanied by an adult or older sibling. Bus tickets are on sale at
the rectory starting Sunday.
Registration for Religious Education classes for the 2016/2017
year will take place in the Religious Education Office
at the following times:

is sponsoring a raffle for JetBlue tickets to anywhere
JetBlue flies: almost 100 domestic and international destinations! Two sets of a pair of tickets (4 in total) will be
raffled on Monday July 4th after the 8:30AM Mass and
Rosary. Raffle chances go on sale at the rectory this
weekend for $20/chance. Don’t miss this opportunity.

Traditional Latin Mass
To the glory and honor of God in thanksgiving for his
ordination to the priesthood, Fr. Evans Julce will offer the
extraordinary form of the Mass (the traditional Latin
Mass) on Monday, June 27th at 7:30PM. All are warmly
invited to assist. Booklets in English, Spanish, and Latin
will be provided.
Wednesday, June 22ND and 29TH between the hours of

Sunday, June 26TH between the hours of

Hoy le damos la bienvenida al Padre Mark
Bristol para celebrar la Misa de las 10am. El
padre Bristol fue ordenado sacerdote hace dos
semanas con el Padre Melchizedek. Inmediatamente después de la Misa están invitados al
salón parroquial para refrigerios ligeros y para
recibir la primera bendición sacerdotal del Padre Bristol. El
Padre Bristol estuvo con nosotros desde noviembre como
diácono en transicion. El comienza su asignación sacerdotal el

El Padre James Varghese es originario de la
India y pertenece a la comunidad de las
Carmelitas de María Inmaculada. Actualmente
está estudiando en Roma y estará con nosotros
para este verano. El llegará el lunes, 27 de junio y se quedará
hasta mediado de septiembre. Esta es la primera vez que el
Padre James esta en los Estados Unidos. Su comunidad sirve en

Canastas de Flores para el Altar
¿Le gustaría mantener nuestro altar hermoso
durante el verano? ¿Por qué no donan una
canasta de flores para la semana? Cada canasta cuesta $75 y lo puede donar en memoria de
un ser querido o en acción de gracias. La donación recibida el lunes de cada semana se le
mencionará el memorial en el boletín.

Peregrinación en autobús a las Puertas Santas
El Papa Francisco ha declarado este año de la Misericordia.
Brooklyn estableció las Puertas Santas en seis iglesias de la
diócesis. Han leído en Nuestra Voz y en el Tablet que otras
parroquias han visitado una o algunas de las Puertas Santas.
Ahora es su oportunidad de visitar los seis en un día. Un autobús cómodo partirá de la parroquia el sábado, 23 de Julio a las
6:30 AM y regresará aproximadamente a las 9 PM. El costo del
tiquete de autobús es de $40 para adultos y $20 para jóvenes de
6 -16 y gratuito para los niños de 5 años o menos y acompañados por un adulto o un hermano mayor. Los tiquetes de autobús
están a la venta en la rectoría a partir de este domingo.
La Despensa de Alimentos de Sor Mary Conroy
patrocinará un sorteo de entradas JetBlue para viajar en

del Trabajo. Esto NO afectará la Misa de los domingos. Tenemos muchas Misa abiertas para intenciones para el resto de este año, así que el
libro de Misas para el 2017 no se abrirá si no hasta septiembre.
