ADULT FORMATION Gospel: Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23 Adults: How do I prepare my heart to receive the transformative power of God’s words? Children: How do I welcome the words of Jesus into my heart? STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS “Be doers of the word and not hearers only . . . .” James 1:22 What do you do to live God’s word? Do you share your time in prayer with God? Do you use your talent to help those in need? Are you generous with your financial resources? If not, what are you waiting for? If you’re spiritually dead, you won’t want to read it. If you’re spiritually curious, there is still hope! A church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So, I think I’m wasting my time and the priests are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.” This started a real controversy in the Letters to the Editor column. Return next week to read the rebuttal! Msgr. Larry CHURCH OF THE PRESENTATION 2015 PARISH RETREAT DOMINIC’S DESIGNATED DRIVER GOLF TOURNAMENT Dominic's Designated Driver (DDD) held its Fourth Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Swenson Park Golf Course in Stockton, CA. Approximately 144 golfers participated in this 18-hole event, and an additional 65 non-golfers also attended the dinner held afterward. Between the tournament, dinner, raffle, and live auction, the event raised almost $16,000. A portion of these proceeds will be used to fund scholarships for students at Presentation Parish School, St. Mary’s High School, Lincoln High School, Lodi High School, East Union High School, and San Joaquin Delta College. The remaining funds will be utilized by the program to provide the community with DDD wristbands, stickers, and educational material. We would personally like to thank you for becoming a part of our change. Your generous donations helped to make the event as successful as we had hoped. Without your support and generosity, Dominic’s Designated Driver would not be able to affect our community and save others from another senseless tragedy. With DDD’s mission to save lives, we believe that our program will educate and encourage all age groups to utilize a designated driver. We are extremely passionate about our foundation and are grateful for any opportunity to get our word out to as many people as possible. Thank you again for contributing to such an important cause that our family holds very dear to our hearts. We look forward to collaborating with you further about sharing our public service to help the safety of our community. Sincerely, Carrie Del Cima, Mark Deiro, Mia Deiro Douglass, and the DDD Board of Directors Dominic’s Designated Driver is an official 501[c][3] organization, Federal EIN 45-4385172. RSVP: Liz Garrett [email protected] or 952-9706 Families in our parish and community need your help. CAN you help? YES, you CAN! Many thanks to all who so generously donate food and funds to the food pantry. Your sharing of your treasure is helping us continue to serve families in our parish and community who are in great need. Those needs are ongoing daily, so please continue to bring canned food and non-perishable foods each week to help with this ministry. One CAN a week CAN make a difference.
